We were originally planning to drive down to Orlando for our 3 days at WDW and one week cruise, but after crunching some numbers today that may change.

I priced an one way car rental from Port Canaveral FL to St Louis, MO and the cost was $66.00. Now to my surprise it didn't show a one way fee so I called Budget to ask them if the price I see is the price I pay. They told me yes it was.

Has this ever happened to anyone? That seems really low to me for a one way car rental. If it is right, Yay because that means that we will probably fly down and then drive back, but I don't wanna get to the car rental desk and then have sticker shock.

To be honest, that does seem incredibly low (to me) for a one-way rental. But maybe St. Louis is short of cars? I would probably call again, maybe asking to speak to a supervisor and being very specific about the pickup and dropoff locations.

One time I had to do a sort of emergency one-way rental when a hurricane shut down MCO for 3 days and I had to get back home for work. I was given a one-way rental for the price of a normal rental. Still had to drive home in 60+ MPH winds through some areas, but it allowed me to get home relatively quickly. But the woman at the counter said very plainly that this was a special deal just because of the unique situation I was in.

I have see recently that a number of the car rental agency are offering little to no drop off fee's for folks driving cars out of Florida. So it could be that you got in on this special.

Very interesting. I guess they're trying to distribute their inventory around the country a little better.

I hope this lasts a while. I'll have to check into this for a WDW trip sometime. Combining this kind of one way rental pricing for a trip home with a cheap flight to MCO makes some sense where I live.

Well I called and they said it was correct. It was a special rate. I'll take it. :cool1:

The big rental car "drive out" happens in the spring in Florida. For select weeks car rental companies will offer discount rates and no drop fees to move cars to northern cities. It works in reverse in the late fall.

You just lucked out to be transporting rental inventory between two locations that are included on their list!

Lucky you. Just found this thread looking for advice for one-way car rentals as we're considering that during Spring Break and I'm looking at least at $400 for a 2 day, 1 way rental it seems from Texas to Florida  Flying may not be unaffordable after all (we'll wait and check Southwest flights when they release their March 2014 dates)
