One Veggie and One Not Eat The Whole World....Showcase, That Is! *UPDATE 6/4*

I never thought I would eat at Le Cellier. I always read reports here on the DIS about it, and how great it is, and how pretty it is. Knowing that I was touring the World with a vegetarian, a steakhouse didn't seem like a high priority. And when I started booking ADRs in late October, Le Cellier was nonexistant. Then in early January...poof! :wizard: All of the sudden it was available all the time. Okay, cool...they have a veg entree, let's give it a whirl!

So we arrived to lunch a bit early and checked in. They were turning away anyone without an ADR. We did have to wait a bit past our ADR time, but that's not a big deal to me. All an ADR is to me is that I will get to eat at that restaurant that day. It's strange to me when people complain that they had to wait past their time. Anywho, back to the matter at hand...lunch!

Here is a nice picture from the waiting area:

IMG_4932.jpg

Now I will apologize ahead of time that the food pictures are a bit dark. It's a dark restaurant, and we had close table neighbors, so we didn't want to blind them with our food picture taking.

I started with a smoothie, the Red Maple. It's raspberry puree and sprite. Delicious! Here's me with it:

IMG_4934.jpg

Both mom and I decided to go a little crazy and order the lunch prix fixe menu. It included an appetizer, entree, and dessert for one price. I did this mostly because I wanted the SOUP! Duh. My appetizer was the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup.

IMG_4936.jpg

I could have just eaten this and been happy. In fact, that's kinda how lunch played out. I don't usually eat big meals, so I inhaled the soup and could hardly eat my entree, lol. We'll get to that one in a minute.

For her appetizer, mom got the mixed field greens with white balsamic vinaigrette. She got it without the bleu cheese because she doesn't like it. It had very thinly sliced apples around the corners.

IMG_4935.jpg

And for her entree, mom got the Sautéed Potato Gnocchi, "roasted butternut squash, apples, and maple sage butter with cranberry and pumpkin pesto". She loved it!!! It was her new favorite dish of the trip. She offered me a bite, but I was struggling to finish my own food so I didn't try it. It was another hit for her with the veggie dining!

IMG_4938.jpg

I opted for the Le Cellier Houseburger, which I got without the mushrooms. It had cheddar, maple bbq sauce, pancetta, and crispy onion pieces on it, and came with fries and a pickle. Holy smokes:

IMG_4937.jpg

To start, I gave mom the pickle. I despise pickles. I know, I'm strange, but that's okay! Next, the fries. YUM! Thick cut, very potato-y (yes, I can make up words ) fries. They were so good. Even when I got full, I still kept eating them. They got the mom stamp of approval too!

And the crowing glory: the burger. Wowzas! It was a steakburger, so it was super dense and juicy. I cut it in half to start because it was so big! It was messy to try and pick up to eat, so I ended up taking the bun off and cutting up the burger. I ate about half before I felt like I couldn't move anymore.

We decided it was a great idea to take our desserts to go since we were both full. The options with the prix fixe for dessert were creme brulee, canadian chocolate moose, or seasonal sorbet which was mandarin orange that day. Mom wanted the moose, and I was going to get it too, but something told me to get the sorbet, so I did.

100_2049.jpg

I ended up eating it pretty soon after lunch though, because it was melting pretty fast in the heat. It was served with a little cookie/brittle type thing which was also delicious! The sorbet itself was refreshing and very good. It was half melted when I ate it, so I half ate it, half drank it. It was kind of like having another smoothie!

Mom got her moose all the way to Hollywood Studios before she decided to eat it. It took the boat ride over with us, so I have to show you the before and after pictures of the moose. The before was taken in Epcot when we were still in Canada, the after just inside the entrance of HS before it was eaten.

Before:
IMG_4944.jpg

After:
IMG_4976.jpg

I guess mooses don't hold up in the heat too well either, :lmao: It was a melty moose, but it was still good. I tried one bite of the moose and it was good. Mom told me to eat more, but I'm not a huge chocolate fan, so I just ate the eyes and tongue of it. And I got a little silly with the moose tongue.

IMG_4977.jpg

And of course I had to joke with mom that, as a vegetarian, she should not be eating a moose! It's just not right! She laughed and ate it anyways.

Overall, despite leaving so stuffed it wasn't even funny, Le Cellier was a hit with both of us!

This was a night that my mom and I split up at Downtown Disney. I was meeting friends that I work with in Ohio, who were working in Florida for the winter season (not at Disney, but other area parks). This meant mom was off to explore on her own, and I was gonna do whatever with my friends.

I apologize, but mom didn't take any pictures of her food from this night. I wasn't there, so I don't know exactly how it went down either. Mom says she had some kind of veggie chili from Pollo Campero, but I don't see it listed on the menu. But that's what she had, and she really didn't tell me anything else about it.

She got some yummies from Babycakes to go, but I guess when we got back to the room that night, we were tired and didn't take a picture of those either. She got two different kinds of bread, one was a blueberry bread with like a sugar on the top, and the other was a pumpkin bread. I tried a couple bites of each. I didn't really like the pumpkin bread, it was too dry for my taste. I did like the blueberry bread though!

This wasn't really a fun, picture filled update, but there you have it!

I met up with my friends Natalie, Tom, and Dan at Downtown Disney. We didn't have any plans, but when I found them in the Lego store, we decided to find somewhere to eat!

100_2057.jpg

T-Rex was close, and none of us had been there before. We put in our name and they gave us a wait time, I can't remember what it was, maybe 20-30 minutes? They seemed pretty busy, but we looked at the Build-a-Dino shop and gift shop until they called our name. Which just meant we had to stand in another line, off to the side. And then in another line by the inside podium until our ticket came up. No big deal, we were catching up anyway.

We were seated by the octopus bar, which looked super cool! Again, my pics are a little dark, but hopefully you can see them okay. We got the Supersaurus Sampler to share. It had spinach and cheese dip, bruschetta, onion rings, and quesadillas. Between the four of us, we ate it all. Here's Natalie modeling the sampler:

100_2060.jpg

For dinner, I got the Footprints Flatbread, which is technically an appetizer. I knew I didn't want to get anything too expensive so that's why I went with this. It had different kinds of cheese, chicken, and balsamic glaze. I got it without the caramelized onions. I forgot to take a pic until after I started eating, but boy was it huge!

100_2061.jpg

I could only eat one third of it before I was full since I had eaten some of the sampler goodies. I ended up sending the rest home with my friends. I really had no way of reheating it, and I knew I was going to be at the parks most of the days and nights coming up. Plus it was nice of them to drive up and see me, so I'm sure they were happy to have free leftovers!

After dinner we took pictures with some of the dinos and such and played in the shops until they closed. They were nice enough to drive me back to Riverside as well so I didn't have to take a bus! Score!

Okay, so since we were eating around the World Showcase on this trip, today's lunch was 2 countries for the price of one! (Well, technically, we paid in both countries so I guess that expression doesn't really apply here,) Technically we "ate" in Morocco, but I purchased my lunch in France at the Boulangerie Patisserie! I've been here before for desserts, but I wanted to try the "real" food here too. For the food, they have sandwiches, quiches, and tartines which are like a french bread pizza. I decided on a ham and cheese sandwich and a sprite. I was going to get a dessert, but I had my eye on a snack for later (you'll see it in the next update) so I passed on dessert this time.

After we got my food, we headed a hop, skip, and jump away to Morocco to the Tangierine Cafe for mom to buy her lunch. While she went in, I found a lovely seat out on the patio. Sigh, lunch views like this are amazing:

100_2083.jpg

Mom came back with a falafel wrap, served with a tangierine couscous salad and lentil salad. Last mother daughter trip when we ate here she had the vegetarian plate, but this time she wasn't that hungry so she tried out the wrap. When I started writing this dining report, I sort of panicked a second...I didn't really eat in Morocco! But then I remembered I took one bite of the falafel wrap, and in my world, that counts! And between the two of us, we had it covered!

Here's my meal, complete with early stage colored Duffy Bear:

100_2081.jpg

Mom's falafel wrap and sides:

100_2086.jpg

The consensus on the meals? Another win! My ham and cheese was just what I was expecting. A crunchy french bread with plenty of both the ham and the cheese. I dressed it up with a little mayo and it was tasty. The bite of falafel I had was good as well. Mom liked all of her meal, and ate it all. It was a nice day in the World Showcase, and this lunch made it even better!

When planning out the trip, I was reading some menus on allears.net and when I read the Fife and Drum Tavern, I knew I had to make a stop here at some point on the trip! What exactly was my eye on? Why, The American Dream, of course! Who doesn't want to live the American Dream? Lol, in this case, I was going to drink/eat the American Dream! :rotfl:

It was funny when I went to order it, because the gentleman working the counter asked what I would like, and I said, "I'll have one American Dream, please!" and then I laughed to myself. But for those of you who have not gotten this delicious treat, I present to you.....THE AMERICAN DREAM!

100_2090.jpg

Red, White, and Blue, and tasty too! Hey, that rhymed! I'm so clever, lol. Anywho, this concoction is both red and blue Fanta slushie (or as I call them, Icees, but they aren't technically that brand at Disney) layered with vanilla soft serve. This literally is my dream because I love both soft serve and Icees. Oh my. I was happy. I did share a little bit with mom, because I'm nice like that. It was refreshing and did not disappoint! We worked on coloring our Duffys some more while sipping on this. Mmmmm, when I grow up, I want my very own Icee machine in my house :lmao:! Nah, not really. I can just run to Target when I need my Icee fix!

Ahhh, the 50's Primetime Cafe. There's really nothing quite like it! It wasn't on our original agenda, but I added it a couple weeks before the trip because I wanted to eat here again! I love comfort food and silly antics, so this is the place to go for that.

IMG_5187.jpg

Our "cousin" was quite nice, he had a southern drawl and kept calling us "hun" or "sug" (as in sugar). He didn't really pick on us too much, but the tables all around us made for some entertainment. To start, we ordered the beer battered onion rings for two. We were so hungry that we forgot to take a picture before we dug into the onion rings. So instead, mom made a hidden Mickey out of the ones that were left by the time we remembered to take a pic.

IMG_5190.jpg

The onion rings were super yummy! The dipping sauce that came with them was good too. Sometimes I skip this kind of sauce because its too spicy, but this one wasn't, it was just right!

For entrees, mom got the spaghetti and "meatballs". Yes, it's listed in quotation marks on the menu like that, because it is meatless meatballs. A younger boy at the table behind us wanted to order this, and his waitress was like, "Now you know those are soy meatballs, not real meatballs. You might want to get something else..." Mom was already eating her meal by this time and she was like, "Hey, they are plenty good!" It was kinda funny. I ordered the Mom's old fashioned pot roast, which I have had before and it is good!

IMG_5188.jpg

IMG_5189.jpg

Again, this was one of those nights with a huuuuuuge portion! It didn't look it at first, but since I had the onion rings it was way too much food. I tried my best to eat it all, but there was a ton of pot roast. And not to be gross or anything, but this time the dish had a lot of chewy bits on it. I was pulling it off the good meat and putting it on my appetizer plate and by the end, it was a good amount of chewy bits on the side. I didn't think it would be so much but it was. :confused3 The rest of it was good, but it just seemed like a hassle to have to pick through all the meat the way I did. Oh well, it was still good. Neither of us could finish our meals because we chowed down on the onion rings to begin with. I would for sure come back here again, because I love the style of this place.

Oh my goodness, that spaghetti looks AMAZING!! I'm hungry again! I hate it when people try to get kids to eat meat. It's so much healthier not to! Can't wait for more updates. :)

I'm all caught up and loving your reviews :goodvibes

I love the veggie platter at the Tangierine Cafe but now I have seen the falafel wrap that your mom ordered, that is going on my list :thumbsup2

Yeah, I'm not sure why the waitress was pushing him to order something else. To be completely honest, the kid probably wouldn't have noticed or maybe even tasted a difference if he wasn't told to look for it. Give kids the chance to choose for themselves!

You're in luck, more updates coming right up! Well, after I have dinner that is. Writing dining reports is hard when you're hungry!!! :lmao:

Yay, thanks for reading along. Hopefully these reviews are a good mix of food pictures and my hilarious commentary (Okay, they are hilarious in my head at least, :rotfl:) Well, funny a little I hope!

Mmmmm, I love falafel too! There is a restaurant chain in NE Ohio called Aladdins, and they have spectacular falafel there too. Great, now I want to go there, but it's quite a ways away for me, lol.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the falafel wrap either! From my bite, it was delish!

I did it! I finally got to go to Beaches and Cream! And what didn't I do? Get ice cream, lol. We didn't plan to eat here, and the story is a little dense, so I'll save it for my TR. But we were here for lunch, so here goes...

First of all, the place is tiny! And kinda hard to find. Pretty sure I walked between a tree and wall that wasn't meant to be walked between  I don't know how they would ever handle peak season here, since there are only 3-4 booths and some tables and the counter. But it sure is pretty inside! Retro!

100_2123.jpg

100_2124.jpg

The food choice for both mom and I was pretty straightforward. I wanted the cheeseburger, she wanted the veggie burger. Not much to look at, but boy oh boy, delicious! Now I know why people say this is their favorite burger on property!

IMG_5264.jpg

Close up on the veg burger:

100_2128.jpg

Pretty sure I gave mom my tomatoes and maybe some lettuce since I wasn't feeling those this day. My burger:

100_2129.jpg

The burger was the best! And the fries were delicious as well. Nice and hot, and the food came out fast. They cook it right behind the counter for you. Unfortunately, we were both too full for ice cream at that moment, and never made it back for any later either. Our nice waitress even took our picture! It's so sweet when they offer to do that, because as a party of two, you don't always get a lot of pictures together.

IMG_5266.jpg

And since this little guy only has one thumb, I'll post him twice cause I give Beaches and Cream TWO thumbs up! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

This was my third time eating at The Wave, and mom's second. Both times I have been I have loved my meals! I'll be upfront here, this was my least favorite time eating here. Don't get me wrong, the service was great and my food was still good, but out of my three meals here, this ranks third.

If you've never been to The Wave, the menu changes quite a bit. I'm not sure how often because each time I went was about a year apart each time, but every time it's different.

Also, The Wave has low light, so the photos are a bit dark. First up, we got some bread. It's multigrain and yummy!

IMG_5282.jpg

Mom got the Fall Harvest salad and a side of jade rice. Along with the bread, she had this as her entree. The salad had heirloom apples, candied walnuts, midnight moon cheese, and ice wine vinaigrette on it.

IMG_5287.jpg

I got the oven roasted chicken, served with savory potato waffles, black-eyed peas, and rice. The black-eyed peas and rice were mixed together. And I dunno, maybe I was tired when I ordered but I thought it was going to come with waffle fries. Nope, it came with waffles, made out of potatoes. Mom kinda laughed at me when I was surprised, but my brain didn't read "savory potato waffles" to mean actual waffles. Nonetheless, the waffles were awesome! Probably the best part of the plate. I tried the peas and rice, but didn't care for them. The chicken was moist and had a little breading on it, and it was quite tasty too. Here's a couple pictures so you can see both the chicken and the waffles:

IMG_5286.jpg

IMG_5285.jpg

We both had a good time here, and even took a pic of the entrance on our way out.

This will be the world's shortest post. Four words:

Sunshine
Seasons.
Strawberry
Shortcake.

Oh yeah baby. We got two because who could share? Took them to go and ate them in bed back at the Beach Club. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

100_2130.jpg

100_2131.jpg

Ow wow those strawberry shortcakes look wonderful :cloud9:

Is it a cake or a pastry slice sandwiching the whole thing together?

They are amazing! That's for sure. It's probably my favorite dessert in all of Disney!

It is in layers of berries, cream, and shortcake. The shortcake is kinda like a biscuit-like cake, I guess is the best way to explain it. It's light and fluffy and you hardly need to chew it. Haha, I hope that explained it???

This option of having broccoli with the fish is VERY exciting to me! I know I will get tired of fries everywhere and I love me some broccoli! Woo hoo! Now off to continue reading!

Yeah, it's cool they are offering new sides at some restaurants. Eating fries everyday is a yucky idea to me! Luckily, I didn't have to do that much at all. Hope you are enjoying the reviews!

Whew, man oh man, I got a little busy! I've now started working six days a week and I had to travel 4 of those days last week for a work seminar. Needless to say, I've been a little tired and have not had much time to update! But I will be able to get in a couple updates a little later today after I finally get some cleaning done around my house. So no worries, more yummy food pics coming up soon!!!

I am a self proclaimed pasta lover. I was actually disappointed that Tutto Italia was closed during our visit. So Tony's Town Square got added in towards the end of our ADR planning. We watched the end of Lady and the Tramp on their TV in the waiting area until we got called in for lunch. We were seated in a half booth/half table right near the fountain.

IMG_5392.jpg

We decided to share the zucchini fries with sun-dried tomato dip as an appetizer. These were amazing! They were hot, the breading was crispy, and the zucchini was cooked well. The dip was really tasty too. It was a fairly large portion and between the two of us, we ate the whole thing.

IMG_5385.jpg

For my meal I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. What can I say, I was missing eating pasta!!! At home pasta is one of my go to side dishes. I'll eat it plain, with sauce, with cheese, whatever! So I was craving a more "basic" meal if you will.

IMG_5386.jpg

Again, served just right. I couldn't finish all the pasta, but I did eat all the meatballs because they were fantastic! It was yummy yummy!!! Mom got the eggplant with pasta. She eats eggplant quite a bit when we go out to eat at home, and she said this one was really good as well!

IMG_5387.jpg

We debated on dessert, but nothing was really calling out to us, so we decided to skip it. We were taking some pictures and our waitress offered to take ours.

IMG_5390.jpg

IMG_5393.jpg

It was another great meal for us, and right when we were leaving the afternoon parade was going on, so we watched it from the porch of Tony's.
