One time use points

We are planning our next trip for next August and I am short 10 points for a whole extra night at a 1 bedroom at BLT.

We had planned on booking tomorrow with purchasing the one time use points from DVC.

However, I had a strange question. My wife wants to switch to Beach Club at the 7 month window if it is still available (I am almost positive it won't be). If we ARE able to switch over can I bring those points with me or do I lose them?

You can only purchase one time use points within your 7 month booking window.

You can't purchase one-time-use vacation points for a DVC Reservation until 7 months from check-in.

As noted, one time use points can be purchased only within 7 month window. If you are considering what you need to reserve at 11 months out, be aware of the following: (a) you have a high chance of being able to get a BCV 1BR at 7 months out for any time in Aug (such was available during all of Aug at 7 months out for Aug 2012 and 2013); (b) the same chance exists at 7 months out for BLT 1BRs except for standard view which can disappear long before 7 months out.
