I think they are buying them back and they hold them. They now wont sell VGC until the UY starts so no free points when people buy VGC direct.Yeah that is weird they use Grand Californian points.
Last year we called for MMB OTUP and the transaction wasn’t completed because we tried to do it on resale membership. It did show VGC as a home resort on that contract after the call. Later we called to buy on our direct contract, and again VGC was added as a home resort.
We just bought OTUP again last week for our Sept 2026 UY and this time it was split between SSR and VGC.
Why are they using VGC?No wonder they needed to raise the price!
I had canceled my original OTUP reservation and was trying to book something else with the OTUPs. I knew that they are only usable at the 7 month mark, but I miscalculated by 1 day and got the most useless error message ever as I was trying to make the reservation. It took me a while to realize my mistake. The next day, everything went fine.Unrestricted but only usable at the 7mo mark.

In a way, it may be a good thing since it means the are not using them to book rooms and renting for cash, which takes away from owners.

Excellent point that makes me happy as a VGC owner but I'm also shocked where all these points are coming from-- they haven't taken THAT many VGC contracts in ROFR that anybody knows about and my VGC points are the very very last ones I would trade back to Disney for cruise, Sorcerer's Pass, etc. Makes me wonder if some lunatics are defaulting or deeding their VGC contracts back to Disney, etc.In a way, it may be a good thing since it means the are not using them to book rooms and renting for cash, which takes away from owners.
I asked this in a different thread about the increase and the consensus was pretty much "no" it will likely stay at $20/pt.So is the Magical Beginnings price now $22.50?
For those in the buying process, it's worth rewriting a contract for that - an extra $2.50 on 200 points is $500...
