My wife and I (and 3 sons) bought our first DVC contract a year ago. We have made one trip so far with points, and have another in December (with a 4 night cruise) and another in April.

Then ... WHAM ... June 1st, I lost my job! Totally unexpected :confused3 ... My wife believed that it was simply that I made too much money for the position that I held, (it would save the company over $15,000 this year alone)...

Luckily, we own all our cars outright, have very minimal credit card debt, own 2 DVC contracts, (1 paid for, 1 financed)... We have been very big savers lately... THAT IS SO IMPORTANT!!! I could be off work for many months and we would manage just fine...But I will find a job! (Actually had a GREAT interview yesterday!)

The one thing that I am so lucky for is the love and support of my wife and kids through all this! The feeling of being totally loved and supported through the good times and bad is just awesome...

So, while I love Disney and our DVC... my wife and kids are MORE amazing!

Awesome attitude. Glad to see you've got a positive outlook and great family support. Best of luck to you.

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your job that is just awful. But on the other hand, your family sounds amazing...

:grouphug:

Best wishes and I hope you find a job sooon!

Bobbi

 so sorry to hear this. I hope you find something soon. Hang in there.

Sending you :grouphug: I know this is a BIG bump in your road, but you have your family and a much better sense of managing $$$ than most people in our country. Good luck. :thumbsup2

My wife and I dont look at it as a "bump in the road" but rather a change for new and better opportunities. I worked in retail and had terrible (long) hours. Pay was good, hours were bad.

Thanks everyone for there support!

You sure have your priorities straight and with your awesome attitude I'm sure something great will come out of this. Wishing you all the best with your job search.

Best of luck to you and your job search. You are blessed with a wonderful family. With your positive attitude, good things are sure to come your way!:goodvibes

I'm sure it'll work out for you. Your situation is why some of us harp on buying and not financing since you really never know what will happen either with a job or health.

hey kinow the situation.

got retired ( really laid off) from work last year. the pension is very small, about half what would have gotten at 62 and 1/3 what would have gotten at 66 - when I was going to retire.

right now trying to move to Florida (which I have been trying since last Sept) and don't want to work until then. although the way things are looking will have to find a job soon.

so praying for you that you find a job shortly that you will love!!!

good luck! not that you need it.:thumbsup2

I never in a million years saw this coming... I didnt do anything different than I have done in the past 4 years (since I had this particular job)... No warning (written or verbal) just told I couldn't do it that way and was let go...

So... Yeah, you never know!

pixiedust:to you for a successful job search! You are so right -- the love and support of a family is the most important thing. Please keep us updated.

With a great attitude like that, not only will you get another job, you'll get a BETTER on. :thumbsup2

DVC is what made it possible for us to still vacation after my DH got laid off. People were surprised that we were still going on vacation. We own our DVC outright & had APs at the time. Owning DVC has meant we still vacation. We also have a similar $$ financial lifestyle.

DH made a career shift is going back to school to become a nurse.

Good luck w/ your job search!!!!

I have very much thought about going back to school for my Pharm.D. But, as of right now that is option J!

Still no luck on the job front. Alot of progress, but no offers! :confused3
