One thing better then Disney/DVC...

It makes me sad to hear about the lose of employment that so many people are in. I wish all of you pleasant job hunting.

Same thing has happened/happening to us

In '08 I got laid off 2 days before we were to go to WDW for 8 days...We went, everything was all paid for..DVC is all paid off too...Had all my spending money put aside, I was just more cautious in spending it.

Now my fiance has been laid off, and I make crud money at the moment, we desparately need a sit by the pool getaway.

Sorry for those that are out of work right now:grouphug: Theres a reason for everything, even if we cant see it right now...Stay strong, good things will happen!

That happened to me on Dec 31, 2009....said they didn't need me anymore. :scared1: Still looking but getting closer every day. :thumbsup2 Hang in there and it will all work out for the best for you. :cool1: I know that there are great things out there for all of us in this situation.

I may be unemployeed this week still, but that doesn't mean that we are not having a great time!

And, on a side note, when we were at the lake, we got stopped by a reporter and photographer of the Des Moines Register who intervied us and took our picture that might run in next weeks Friday or Saturday paper about the local beaches and lakes... :thumbsup2

Have had a couple more interviews since then and even a shadow day to see if I like the job...

My most recent is with a company called "Eli Lilly" as a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep. Does anybody here have any position like this or some insight for me? I love you DISers, I know someone(s) here will help me out!

Thanks

Don't know anything first hand about this company but our DS is looking at job prospects although he won't receive Masters degree until next spring (these days it is never too early to start) and he has mentioned glassdoor dot com posting employee reviews.

Wishing you quick success on your job search :goodvibes

The one thing that I am so lucky for is the love and support of my wife and kids through all this! The feeling of being totally loved and supported through the good times and bad is just awesome...

So, while I love Disney and our DVC... my wife and kids are MORE amazing!

:thumbsup2 Absolutely. DVC is terrific and super fun but not nearly on the same scale as the love and support of family and friends. :goodvibes

:) Eli Lilly is a well known company in the medical world. Good luck to you!!

Here's wishing you all the best. It sounds like your priorities are in the right place and that makes a HUGE difference in weathering this storm. I know from personal experience. Years ago, the company I was working for was purchased by a foreign firm. Within 1 year, the new owners filed for bankruptcy protection and laid off 95% of the staff including me. I was blindsided. I was out of work for 4 months until I found a new job. We had to move away from both our families and I was making only 2/3 of what the previous job paid. It turned out to be a very positive thing for us. We had the same attitude you have and we learned real quick to make lemonade out of the lemons that we had been served. Keep the positive attitude going because it shows up in interviews as well. Good luck to you and your family and may God's blessings shine upon each of you.

Sorry to hear of this set back but it's great that you have your priorities straight:thumbsup2

DH and I always say no matter what happens or where we are, as long as we're together we'll be ok. Family first and everything else will fall into place.

Good luck on your interview turning into an offer:)

GOOD NEWS...GOOD NEWS!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I got a job offer today! Took a little longer then I was hoping, but got to take the summer off (1/2 with pay) and spend it with my kids! I was being very selective as far as what I applied for and accepted (actually had a previous offer, but didn't take it). Financially, its very comparable to what I had and has a few extra perks!

That's wonderful, I'm glad it's working out for you.

I never in a million years saw this coming... I didnt do anything different than I have done in the past 4 years (since I had this particular job)... No warning (written or verbal) just told I couldn't do it that way and was let go...

So... Yeah, you never know!

Truly you do never know, it has happened to so many recently that have done a great job for over 20 years then suddenly, we just don't need you anymore.

Congratulations on the job offer! and glad you had such a good summer with the family.

As I read all the posts, I kept thinking about all the layoffs that have occurred since '93 in my company....my husband being one of the victims! But fate is funny and usually works for a reason. I'm so very happy you found another job! You know that old saying - when one door closes another opens and I'm so happy that happened for you.

Yay! That's wonderful news! Wishing you the best in your new job.

Awesome news :yay: I just got a new job too after being unemployed for nearly 8 months! So glad that things have worked out....but it sounds like with your attitude it was just a matter of you finding the right fit! :thumbsup2 I hope it all works out great! :dance3:
