We have a SSR contract and are looking into either an add-on at SSR or a OKW resale of 50 pts. I have a question that would help in making this decision. If we were to book at SSR using the SSR points and the OKW points, how do I go about this? Book at 11 months for whatever SSR points we could use for however many nights and then at 7 months add on the remaining nights using those points? Or would we wait and book at 7 months - that would be easier? I want to point out that this would not be for the busier/holiday times of the year....Probably Sept/Oct/Nov or May. Just not sure how one goes about this. It seems confusing to me.

I would book at 11 months with the SSR points, then try to extend the vacation at 7 months with the OKW points. However, unless you want the OKW points for a specific reason, like banking and borrowing to stay at OKW every couple of years, it would be much simpler to have all of your points at one resort. Also, if you are adding on resale, it is a good idea to get your points all in the same use year, and request DVC at the time of closing to put all the points in the same membership number.

One thing you couldn't do if you had two different UYs, would be to make a single night reservation by combining the points without doing a transfer. Even if they were the same resort.

So getting a second contract through resale can be less expensive, but a different UY can make it a bit more difficult.

Thanks. I was thinking it would be a bit more difficult with two different UY's. The incentives for add-ons are enticing but not sure if we will be able to take advantage of them. Looking at the resales, it's hard to find 50 pt contracts with our UY.

Contact any of the resellers you are considering and ask to be put on their call list if the contract you are looking for comes in. Sometimes they don't even make it to the website because they get sold quickly.
