One or Two DDE cards?

Do you or will you purchase the second DDE card at a cost of $25 or would one card work “just fine”?

Last November during our three week stay, I don’t believe my wife had the chance to use her card. I believe our room key reflected that we were DDE cardholders when we offered our key as a means of payment.

Can anyone tell me if the card was in my name and we accepted charges on out room key, (providing that the DDE was reflected on the key) why it would work for my wife if such occasion would present itself where I was not eating with her or she was going out to pick something up?

Hi, I just renewed our DDE card and opted for two cards. One for myself and one for my DH.We USUALLY travel together but just this past February I went down to WDW 6 days ahead of him with just my youngest DS and used the card EVERYDAY! So for us and the way we travel I felt that having a card in my name was a good idea! Also this summmer myself and the 3 "kids" will be spending 4 nights at the HRH. My DH really does not care for Universal so I asked if he would like a studio on Disney Property(we are DVC owners) and he was quite happy with this arrangment. So he will have his DDE card to use at WDW during the day and join us for dinner at City Walk! Sorry I do not know if DDE card holder is put on your room key?? But I always gave my DDE card to the server at each restaurant and they took it (they DID NOT just look at it) and brought it back with my 20% off guest check. Joan

The DDE is not noted on room keys, the pre-paid Disney Dining Plan is.

I did not get a second card this year. Last year I was allowed to have the second card in Mom's name (I understand that isn't allowed anymore, even though we are the only two adults living at our address and we both have APs). Either way, I only got the second card last year for convenience, as we usually always dine together at WDW. It was nice to have the second card in case I misplaced mine. I would not pay for a second card this year.

If you and your spouse often dine seperately, or travel seperately, then it would be worth the additional fee. I imagine more locals opt for the second card than those of us that have to travel far to get to WDW.

I just renewed ours yesterday over the phone. We opted to just keep one in my husband's name, mainly because we will always dine together at WDW and his AP was handy to read off the numbers.

We were told that the card would be mailed in about 2 to 4 weeks and will have a May 31, 2007 expiration date.

Still a nice value at $60 that pays for itself very quickly.

We renewed ours, but only requested one card--in my name. I am often there without DH, but he is never there without me.

We'll be just getting one DDE card when we renew. I did actually go to WDW without DH and did use the card this use year, but I missed him, and don't expect to go without him next year!

We are only going to get one card to renew. In my name only as my mother and I are taking a trip in October.

We opted to one card as well, as we think we'll probably be travelling together this year (last year DW did take DD #1 on a solo trip).

Unless you think you'll spend over $125 (before discount) on meals alone without the cardholder, one card makes more sense.

We always dine together at WDW.... with the exception of our last trip when I was working. DP had to eat breakfast/lunch on his own then we met up for dinner. We didn't get a 2nd card for him because it would only be this trip and the discount doesn't apply to most CS anyway.

I'm still debating whether to switch and use the DP for our next trip! I could use the DDE for our drinks, but it would be about the same $$$ either way but we'd end up "experiencing" more food choices using DP... although we'd also gain a few more pounds!

Just remember that $125 is the number for breaking even on that 2nd card...

We're only getting one card, too. It will be in my name since we're going as a family in July. And I am going with dd17 in December.

I just can't see spending the extra money. We always eat together anyway.

That's the story for us too--so just one card.
We saved several hundred $$$$ with just one use--and we're going two more times before it expires!!
