We'll be taking a 4-day cruise in Dec but will be flying down early Saturday. Does it make sense to consider staying one night at Vero Beach before the cruise? This is just one possibility but I'm wondering if it's a good one. We will be coming back to WDW for 3-4 days after the cruise.

IMO I would stay at a DVC resort at WDW or at the Raddison in Port Canaveral.
We are doing the exact thing in Feb for our cruise. Staying at OKW for 1 night then driving to the port in the morning.

If you did go to VB the night before.....you would have to drive 96 miles(MCO-VB) ...then get up and drive another 45-55 minutes to get to the port.

We stayed at the Radisson last January before our 4 night cruise and it was so convenient to be right there at port the next morning. We enjoyed looking at the ships the night before. Can't believe it was a whole year ago! Wish we were going . . .

Enjoy!

I hope it's a good idea, because that is what we are doing in April! We are actually flying into Fort Lauderdale on Good Friday; our plane lands around 9:15 am. From what I have looked up on Map Quest, I'm guessing we'll get to Vero some time around noon. We have never been before, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to check it out! We'll have the day there to relax, then plan on leaving around 8:30 the next morning. Hopefully we'll arrive at the port around 10:30, which will give us plenty of time to drop off the rental car and get checked in. I'm just hoping that I don't totally fall in love with the place and decide that I need to do an add-on!:earsboy:

If you can get to Vero early in the day, like Mouseclick1 is doing, it is a fine plan. If there is any way you can arrive a day or two early, it is even a better plan. Vero is a wonderful way to relax before the cruise, so when you board the ship you are already in a relaxed and Disney mood.

Mouseclick1 - Get ready to add-on. You will LOVE Vero!!!

Our family visits VB often. In fact, last summer before a seven day cruise we stopped at VB for the character breakfast on a Saturday morning on our way to the ship (we live south of the resort) . After breakfast, we took a leisurely ride up A1A to the ship. This was a very easy ride with few signals from the resort to Melbourne and some very pretty scenery. We got to the ship very relaxed and very full from the breakfast.
