the southwest flight schedule released today has moved the only nonstop flight out of buffalo (oct 1st) from 6:10 am to 12:20 pm
which means we lose most of our first day (staying at CSR)
considering adding one night room only either to beginning or end of our package. (room only sunday, pkg mon-sat / pkg sun-fri, room only friday night)
cheaper to do the night before (sept 30) because the end of our trip runs into columbus day weekend.
wondering though how much of a hassle it will be to NOT have tickets etc when we arrive.
would it be worth the extra $$ to pay higher rate for the room on oct 5th
(making our departure day sat 6th a "resort" day....our flight out not until 4pm)

Hi,

We have done this before at the beginning. Just call and ask what kind of deal they can give you. For us we were staying at all star music and we got a deal of $50 per night for a standard room and then just transfered to our family suite the next day. But, keep in mind depending if there is a park open late that you will be at the resort at about 2 pm and then could go right away. Balance out what the extra cost really is when you factor in buying your meals...for us we arrived at 10 pm so we weren't going anywhere anyways. Just another idea...if you were planning on doing Mickeys Halloween party and it ran that night, perhaps you could do that instead ...it allows you access at about 5pm I believe and it is alot of fun if you have kids.

You can get your park tickets up to 3 days prior to the start of your package :). You would just go to any park's Guest Relations and request early ticket pickup. We did this on our December 2010 trip and it worked out great. You will be able to access your park tickets early, but if you have the DDP on your package, those credits will not be available until you actually check in for the package part of your trip. HTH :flower3:.

I would go the day before and just use that time to get settled in the room and then go and enjoy the pool or spend some time at DTD. We do this every trip and it makes for a nice relaxing start.

it looks like we have decided to add another night to our package
making it sun sept 30 - sat oct 6
i just can not imagine that we will be able to resist a visit to MK on the evening of our arrival OR blow our entire saturday hanging by the pool waiting for it to be time to catch ME (i alreay have 1 resort day figured midweek)
i also don't like the idea of maybe having to change rooms after that first night...i know it's sometimes possible to keep the same room....but as with all resort requests there is no guarantee!

the added day will also allow us a day at epcot (which i had planned to skip) and a morning at AK (safari?) on the day we fly out!

thanks for the input!!

Just get a room only and spend the day exploring the hotel and Downtown Disney. Lots to see there and do. First time we did that stumbled upon a Disney Vacation Club kiosk. Talked the gentleman running it and decided to take the tour. At the end got 5 $10 gift cards that were good anywhere on Disney property. Paid for dinner that night since our meal package didn't kick in till the next day. Of course this was a few years back and not sure if they have that offer for listening to their sales pitch but was a nice surprise and a good way to kill an hour or two out of the day.
