We have reservations for Napa Rose for one night of our upcoming vacation. Looking for suggestions for a similarly nice place for one of the other nights. We're staying at DLH if that matters.

I hear conflicting reports about Steakhouse 55. Some love it, some have had poor experiences there. We are partial to Yachtsman Steakhouse when we go to WDW so I wonder if somebody that's familiar with both can compare/contrast.

Appreciate the help! Only two weeks to go...

Honestly there is no other places as good as Napa Rose. Steakhouse 55 is good, but not the same caliber as NR. I would either do NR twice because if you sit at the Counter they would have no problem creating a completely different experience, or perhaps consider a Downtown Disney restaurant like Ralph Brennan's or Catal.

Ralph Brennan's...good food, nice fine dining restaurant. There is a current thread on here talking about their bananas foster.:thumbsup2

We had a great experience at Steakhouse 55. It's a beautiful restaurant--you feel very pampered there. I thought their food was good, too.

I've also had great experiences at Jazz Kitchen, as others have mentioned.

You could also do Blue Bayou inside Disneyland. Not as good with the food, but the ambiance is really special. :thumbsup2

I'm one of those with conflicting opinions about Steakhouse 55, we've had an amazing experience for breakfast (and really yummy food) but for dinner we felt that the quality drop, service is always excellent.

Like pp, I would also suggest Blue Bayou, food is ok, but the atmosphere is one of a kind.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Ariel's Grotto. I maintain that the cioppino was the single best thing I've had in a public restaurant at Disney.

I'm one who will say "do Steakhouse 55." We have thoroughly enjoyed every meal we had there when we were still living in So. Cal and heading to DLR every weekend. We were always looking for a great spot, and this never failed us. I've read some of the reviews from folks and what I seemed to glean from many of them was that it was too long of an event for most people. That could be a generalization, but that was the jist of many posts. Now, marceme did say that they felt the quality drop between a breakfast and the dinner, but that was never our reality; not saying it didn't happen for them, it just wasn't ours. (Went to the breakfasts when it was Granville's; VERY nice!! But our dinners never failed us either.)

We went to Yachtsman's Steakhouse but one time, and we won't be back there. My steak definitely wasn't to my liking and my partner's lamb.....well, he said there was absolutely no flavor to it; and it's pretty hard to mask the flavor of lamb!

Food is always so subjective. What works for one is sometimes another's bane.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody!

Blue Bayou isn't going to work this trip because its closed while Pirates is down.

You've got us seriously considering Brennan's. My wife is from cajun country and is very particular about that style of food. Up here (MA) if something is advertised as "cajun" we stay away from it because we know its going to be a poor substitute. Do we need reservations at Brennans for a Saturday night?

I think she might like Brennan's! :thumbsup2 And yes, I would definitely make reservations for a Saturday night. If you want a more peaceful dinner, sit outside or in one of the fancy dining rooms. If you want loud and some Cajun/Jazz music, then sit in the bar area. It's more crowded and not as nice in there, though.

My 2 cents:

We have eaten dinner at Steakhouse 55 many times and loved it - the filet was tender enough to cut with a fork. We also ate at the Yachtsman a few months ago and were not impressed.

Another suggestion would be Wine Country Trattoria - either WoC dinner or just off the menu

Ralph Brennan's - hate to be a downer but I am from the south (Texas & Louisiana) and found the food to be more of a Californianized (yes, I made up the word) version of Cajun. Now to be fair, it has been several years since I ate there so it may have improved.

In DTD - I also love Catal.

My top two choices would be Steakhouse 55 and WCT.

Ohhh! Wine Country Trattoria sounds right up our alley too! We love wine! I'll have to look into that one. Thanks. :goodvibes
