I am really thinking of buying into DVC. I have not got any of the info from disney yet. But my one major question is if I take a one week vaction to disney how many points would I normally use if I stay at my home resort.

Thanks so much
Sarah:)

It depends on what size room you want, your travel dates, and your resort. For instance, to stay at AKV 2 bedroom savanna view for a week during the magic season it costs us 360 points (361 next year).

Like PP stated it all depends.

Here are some questions you need to ask yourself

1. How many people are traveling in your group will determine on what size room will you need. DVC offers Studio (up to 4), One Bedroom (up to 5), Two Bedroom (up to 9) & Grand Villas (up to 12). This is based on AKV rooms

2. When are you planning on traveling, different times of the year use different points.

3. What is the length of stay?

4. Do you plan on making a trip every year? You have the ability to bank and borrow points from previous or up coming yr which enable you to book larger rooms.

I will happy to answer more questions if you have them.

This is the current Incentives going for purchasing the DVC through Disney.

New Incentive effective 4/1......

New contracts:
$8. discount off $112. for GC & BLT
$10. discount off $112. for AKV
$13. discount off $112. for SSR/THV

These "new owner" incentives are good only with an "existing member referral"..

Existing/New members: (same as the previous incentive)
existing members Add on 100 pts: a 3 night cruise for 4 (160 for newbies)
existing members Add on 125 pts: a 4 night cruise for 4 (200 for newbies)
existinf members Add on 200 pts: a 7 night cruise for 4 (270 for newbies)

OR

These "new owner" incentives are good only with an "existing member referral"..

Newbie..
Take an additional $$ off the already discounted price....
160 pts take $6.
200 pts take $8. etc...

Existing member...
Buy 100 pts take an additional $6. off the discounted price.
Buy 125 pts take an additional $8. off the discounted price.

So...buying into BLT as a newbie...there can be a $14. discount off the original $112. price.

As always call your guide for more "official" answers.

One other thing - if you're considering having anything but BLT, AKV, or GCH as your home resort I seriously recommend looking at the resale market.

You can click on the link at the top of this page to see some of the current listings at TTS to get an idea of where prices our.

As an example, with the currently incentives SSR costs $91/pt buying direct thru Disney, we just bought resale (officially got in the system today :cool1:) and paid $68 per point. Resale was over $3600 cheaper than direct for SSR. For what you would pay buying 160 SSR direct thru Disney you could easily get over 200 points in the resale mkt.

Good luck,

Chris

You can visit the The Timeshare Store and sign up to recieved emails for new resales. They will send you email updates on an almost daily basis.
