I have read HydroGuy's thread about Fantasmic, and have one question:

in the seating area up front, does the seating area slant upward the further back you go?
Just wondering because the recommendation is to sit back 10-15 feet to avoid getting wet and also because the railing can block the view some. But, if we sit further back, if people in front of us are sitting on the same level, concerned about the view for our 2 and 5 year olds behind people.

Also, we are hoping to see fireworks at 9:30, then head to F! for the 10:30 showing, I read to try to see fireworks near the Frontierland side of the hub to get to F! easier---is this a good view for fireworks, specifically for seeing Tinkerbell and Dumbo flying?

I guess that is two questions.

Thanks for any info!

We watched the fireworks from the front of the Mark Twain Riverboat and saw Tinkerbell, but not Dumbo. We've also watched the fireworks on the trail between Thunder Mtn RR and the Ranch, but didn't see either Dumbo or Tink.

As for getting wet, we have sat close to the railing and haven't had trouble with the spray, unless the wind blows in the wrong direction. The railing didn't obstruct our view.

At the front railing area of the sitting area, the sidewalk slants up a little bit towards the rope off area. I would sit at the back of the rope off area since you won't have anyone behind you and you can sit tall. Also, you can have your stroller up at the back of the rope off area where you have to fold it up if you are in the front or middle of the sitting area.

The left side of the Hub right by Frontierland is a good spot to see the fireworks and a good spot so you can head on over to the RoA for the 2nd show of F!. You can see both Tink and dumbo fly from that spot.

We were allowed to stand on top of the bridge over the Pirates of the Caribbean. Are you normally allowed to do this? This was a great spot and we are planning on doing it if it's okay.

Thanks, this helps with planning for the shows!

IT is good to know we have a few options, that way we can find maybe something that works when we get to the Fantasmic area.

Abbie, I think I read that the POTC bridge is a valid spot. Did you feel that you were far away from the show, or were you still close enough to see the characters come by? (We are specifically looking to have a good view of the princesses come by on the floats and boat at the end.)

Yes it slants. If you sit back away you can see fine. Your two year old can stand up during the show. I suspect your 5 year old can see fine when sitting. There are gaps between people. It's not like it is wall-to-wall people with guests packed like sardines. Yes the spaces are all filled, but there are gaps and kids can see fine.

Yes you can see Dumbo and Tink from the left side of the hub.

We sat as far back as possible in the lower section on Friday night. We all could see fine including my 3yr old niece. As mentioned above, people are not packed shoulder to shoulder. It was a great spot, right infront of the reserved dessert package seating. The wind was blowing toward us so we got a little spray at times. View of characters floating by was excellent.

The wind caused the fireworks to be cancelled which was sad. A local gave us her tip for judging if the fireworks will happen: she looks at the flag in New Orleans from her F! spot and in her experience if the flag is being blown out straight in gusts = no fireworks.

DiggleBelle-
Was that first or second show? What time did you have to get there to get that spot?

thanks for the info--now I feel prepared to see Fantasmic, and not so lost like before last night.

DiggleBelle--thanks for the tip on the fireworks go/no go--the flag in NO square!

It was the first show on a Friday night. I got there at 6:15pm and there were quite a few people already there but most of them were up by the railing. I would say by 7pm most of the back row was taken. I had a picnic blanket big enough for 4 people.

I found a perk of the back row was I could sit on the wall behind my blanket while I waited which was way more comfortable than the cobblestones for that long. You can't sit on the wall for the show but once I explained to the CMs working there I was by my blanket they said it was fine to sit there during the wait and agreed it was more comfortable. They will come by often because it is the walkway and people will try to sit on the wall for the show which isn't allowed so the CMs had to ask them to move.

For the second show I'm not sure but I would say be in the area by the end of the first show.

We were close enough I thought to see the characters. But this was the first time seeing the show. I was happy with being up there not with all of the people crunching in to see.

We saw F! last night and had a great view. Show was at 9 and we got to the viewing area about 8 and after looking for about 5 minutes found a rail spot directly behind one of the F! dessert package areas. No obstructions at all. DW took DD on HM and then came back and it was getting packed (about 8:40 when they came back). Show was great and DD fell asleep after the show this time instead of just before.
