One day car rental while at WDW

We are staying at the GF for 5 days and using ME to an from the airport so no need to have a car.

We would like to rent a car for one day to head on over to Cape Canaveral, but what is the easiest way to do this ? I know there is the car rental center just a few miles from the GF, but do they pickup and drop off to the resorts ? If not then do a get a cab ? How about getting a cab back to the GF later in the evening ?

When we stayed at AKL we just rented from the Alamo at the Car Care Center on property. We went down to the front desk/concierge about 30 minutes before we wanted to go and they called the shuttle for us. I also think you can prearrange a pick up yourself by calling the car care center, but you have to do so 24 hours in advance. And yes, they will also drop off after return, but I am not sure about hours.

Shades of Green and the Dolphin also have rental counters. Shades of Green would be the closest.

We usually pick up our car from CCC part way through our trip. They send a shuttle to your resort to pick you up and one will take you back after you drop it off. But.... you need to book the shuttle at least one hour in advance and we've never been able to get them to pick us up at a park.

hmmm...we didn't have a problem calling 30 minutes before, and we only did it that way because it was suggested on another disney website (that I won't mention here-not sure its allowed) but to be safe, you may want to just call the car care center to ask beforehand.

Actually the Car Care Center is closer to GF it less than a mile from GF and the CCC will pick him up at the GF and take him over to rent the car.

Word of advise plan you day at the Cape for a weekend day. Car rentals for one day are cheaper on the weekends!

You can walk from GF to Shades of Green to pick up car, there is a walkway. As stated above you can get a shuttle to Car. Center to pick up car. Check pricing at both locations, they are both Alamo/National I believe.
