"Once you go deluxe, it's hard to go back."

I'm a deluxe kind of girl by nature but...

We have stayed in all of the Deluxes except YC
Have stayed in 3 DVC properties
Have stayed in all the mods
Have stayed in Pop and ASSp for values

There is something I love about every single resort~
There are only 2 properties out of that list I would not stay at again.

So, different trips call for different purposes of resorts, that's why it's so great to travel back to Disney!

I have stayed at Values, Moderates, and Deluxe...have enjoyed them all. However, if I had the money I would always go Deluxe. I just love the whole atmosphere of the Deluxe resorts I have stayed in...Beach Club is my absolute favorite. My next trip is in two months...I will be staying at Pop Century...just don't have the money for Deluxe this time.

Here's a funny twist on this -

We love deluxe and there are 7 of us. I had always assumed a 2BR Villa would be the BEST but now I realize that it means 3 people are sleeping on sofa beds as compared to renting adjoining rooms (where there are 4 queen beds).

So I guess not only do we prefer deluxe to mod/value, we prefer it to 2 BR deluxe villas!

We've been DVC'rs since 1993. However, we've stayed at CSR, CBR and what used to be called Dixie Landings. I loved all these resorts so much!!! I especially loved taking a morning jog at DL. The landscaping was so pretty, and dd loved the pool. The pools were also great at CBR and CSR, with nice playgrounds for the kids.

We still have a young child, and for me, nothing beats a food court at the end of the day. I still don't like sitting around restaurants waiting for food, trying to entertain small kids, etc. We've not tried the values, but I'd probably be fine with them too.

I've been spoiled in that all my trips have been at deluxes (and now DVC) I'm not knocking moderates or values but I know for me, I could never go down a level

I'd have to agree. My mom and I stayed value and then we stayed at POFQ and we LOVED it. And then last time we stayed at the GF and we LOVED it :lmao: Now as we think about our next trip, we both agree that it would be hard to go back to a mod and we still love POFQ :upsidedow

We used to always stay at the mods but stayed at BWI once and were hooked. Now we have DVC and stay at the BWV usually. It mainly just boils down to convenience for me as the main advantage.

We had mostly stayed at moderate resorts (6 stays) and deluxe (2 stays).

The last time we went was over spring break (had previously said that I would never go to WDW during spring break!!!!). We ended up staying at a value resort for the first time. We were at POP and had a great time! It was just as clean and the food court was better in every way than all the other resorts we had experienced.

Our thoughts when at Disney...
We go to WDW to do Disney. We don't go to lounge around the pool. We don't go for fancy restaurants. We don't go for the fake beaches and man-made lakes. We go to experience the parks. We just need to a clean place to sleep!!
My parents live in Florida on a golf course. We can relax, swim, etc.. at their place. I feel like I am at a resort when I'm at my parents'!!

If I was going to pay good money for a true "resort", it is going to be directly on the ocean or gulf, not on a fake beach at Disney.

If I drove an Acura, could I ever go back to driving a Honda? Absolutely!!

I too feel that staying on property is required, no matter which level resort the budget dictates.

But...I've stayed in 3 deluxes, 3 mods and 2 values and I like them in that order. You can't compare a deluxe to a 5 star in NYC or another major city, it is called deluxe because it's the most deluxe of Disney's offerings (that's why there will soon be a Four Seasons on property). The deluxes have better decor, amenities, rooms, and dining than the mods and the mods have more than the values. It's totally logical.

Our most recent trip was in Oct. at Pop. We're a couple (34 and 40) with no kids. We stayed at Pop because the theme appealed to us and the budget was tight. We were there for a wedding so we wouldn't be in the room much anyway - we figured it was the best time to try a value together (I had stayed in AsMu in college and liked it then). We wanted to love it and discover that value was a great match for us, but we didn't and it wasn't. I couldn't help but compare it to the other resorts I've stayed in and it didn't hold a candle to CR, AKL or WL or even to CSR, POR or CBR. I want interior hallways for the afternoon rain storms, great TS restaurants, and a little luxury on my vacations. We spend a ton of time in the parks, but I want my down time to be just as great and a relaxing change of pace.

All that said, the budget my past two trips hasn't allowed deluxe, but I know now that the cost difference from value to mod is worth it, even if we have to leave a day earlier. I'm glad we tried Pop, I love trying new wdw resorts - that's half the fun, but our next trip, assuming we can't afford deluxe, we'll try renting DVC or maybe Swan/Dolphin.

I have stayed at all deluxe resorts, except for the GF and every moderate, except CB, but, if you look at my signature for my stays for the past 3 years, my heart belongs to POP. No matter where we stay, we always like to stay at POP for a couple of days, it's just fun for us a family!! So, not only is it possible to go back, you can actually enjoy it and have a great time too! Disney has different resorts, that offer different things for everyone in the family, IMO you might as well enjoy the variety that Disney has to offer...

:goodvibes

We've stayed at AKL,CBR and for the past 4 trips Swan/Dolphin. I think it would be hard to NOT be at the Dolphin. We love the EPCOT area and with a teacher discount we can't go wrong!

For us, it is simple. We have no problem with values (enjoyed Pop and As Movies was ok) for weekend trips. If we spent 1-2 weeks there, it would be too cramped. We own DVC so for our longer trips, we want the extra space, and quiet that you can get at the deluxe resorts.

For me, it's all about location. Anything I can do to stay off a bus as much as possible, I'd do it. Having said that, I know that the deluxes offer the most transportation options. I've stayed at all levels, and while each has a certain charm, I do enjoy the deluxes the most.

Deluxes only in WDW....do not care for the motel feel, set ups of the rest Moderates and values)....

If we go anywhere else, and have no choice other than the motel.....we'll do it but will look for a hotel just for the amenities and options they offer..inside corridors and better dining....

We don't go overboard on the deluxes, what we like about WDW is having different options in the deluxe catagory....bottom line cheapest of the deluxes is AKL and WL.....and for us being MK fans...WL wins every time...
