I put this in my reply to someone, but i also wanted to share this with others. Once the Wilderness Lodge built the villas, we as dvc members could not stay at the Wilderness Lodge hotel anymore. Now they are building villas at the Yacht and Beach Club, per our newsletter. I inquired about this and was told that the same thing will probably apply, so if you want to stay at the yacht and beach club hotel before we can't, i believe the villas we will up and open by the end of 2002.

If any of you have any info. on this, please share. My goal is to stay at every deluxe resort, so i need to get moving!!!!

Oh my gosh! Are you serious?? I can't believe this! I thought that we could use our points to stay on any Disney Resort property as DVC members!! I mean, I know it takes a whole lot more points but that the option was still available to us!!

Does anyone know anymore?!!

OH NO!

This is no big deal. Once the BCV villas are built you wouldn't want to stay at Y/BC hotel. Point wise it would be cheaper to stay at the villas. Also you've never been able to stay at BWI since it was built.

Oh I see!! Is there much difference then from staying at the BWV or the Boardwalk hotel? I mean, other than the number of points, why would someone want to stay at the hotel rather than the villas??

Does that make sense?

Thanks,
Rima

As far as I am concerned, the Villas are like a hotel. It's one of the reasons I don't stay there. I do agree that there would be no reason to stay at the hotel from any site that has a DVC since it would cost more points and be less room. WE loved our stay at Wilderness lodge prior to DVC ownership, but HATED the long halls. I would much rather stay at the villas. I am sure BCV will be similar.

If we own at Y&BC Villas will we be able to use the Stormalong Bay pool whenever we want or would that be considered pool-hopping?

Every indication has been that BCV will have it's own 'quiet' pool, and also have access to SAB. Same situation as at WLV where the villas have a 'quiet' pool, but also have access to the WL main pool.

My only question about every indication (so far) would be - since SAB is SO overcrowded now (no, this is NOT another pool hopping thread ;) ), how will they possibly handle all the additional traffic from the villas? It doesn't make any sense.

They don't necessarily have to declare BCV to be part of Y&B.

Actually, I'm curious - I know the POS for BW includes the 'feature' pool in it's common elements - does the POS for WVL do the same?

I just consider the 1 bedrooms so superior to the standard rooms, I don't see this affecting us at all!! You will be staying at the Beach Club, just staying in the Villa side.... It's still a deluxe hotel!

My only dream is that they will convert some part of the Floridian over for DVC Villa's... I can dream can't I???

Here's a quote from "Disney Vacation Club Reveals Plans For Fourth Ownership Resort at Walt Disney World Resort," dated May 25, 2000, at Themeparks.com:

quote:
Further development plans call for the construction of connecting walkways and full access to Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts; the addition of a pool, as well as enhancements to the existing lobby/retail space and other select guest areas within Disney's Beach Club Resort.[/quote]
The way I read that, the Beach Club lobby and desk will also serve the Beach Club Villas, just as the Wilderness Lodge lobby and desk also serves the Villas at Wilderness Lodge.

The new pool will provide additional pool capacity to the entire Beach Club resort. Although there will undoubtedly be a net increase in demand for Stormalong Bay from the new Villas, some people from the Villas and from the Beach Club itself might actually prefer a more conventional swimming pool, at least some of the time. For example, a conventional pool is better for people who swim laps. And for someone who primarily wants to read by the pool and take an occassional dip in water, the quiet pool might also be better than Stormalong Bay.

There's really not an issue of "declaring" the Beach Club Villas to be part of the Yacht & Beach Club Resort -- the Villas are part of the resort.
