Once Upon A Time

The opening says "only one knows the truth" but they don't specify WHAT truth.

What we DO know:
(1) EQ/Regina definitely knows who she is in both worlds. I'm pretty sure Regina knows the Storybrooke and fairy tale identities of everyone.

(2) Snow/Mary Margaret, Jiminy/Archie, and the rest of the people of Storybrooke don't remember their fairy tale lives. (Except for poor Sheriff Graham who started to remember and is now dead.)

(3) Somehow Henry (who, so far as we know, did not have a prior life in fairy tale world) thinks he can match up the Storybrooke people with their fairy tale identities

(4) Emma is Snow & Prince Charming's daughter, who escaped the curse via the tree/cabinet

(5) Rumpel/Mr. Gold also knows who he is in both worlds, AND knows the Storybrooke and fairy tale identities of everyone. (I'm guessing this by the things he has in his shop and the things he's said to some of the Storybrooke residents)

(6) Since Rumpel knows that Snow's daughter is named Emma, and Rumpel is the one who told Snow that her daughter would come back to break the curse on her 28th birthday, I'm 99.9% sure that Rumpel knows that Emma IS Snow's daughter.

(7) EQ/Regina doesn't know what happened to Snow's daughter; hence, she doesn't know that Emma is Snow's daughter. I think this is the one fact that Rumple/Gold knows that EQ/Regina doesn't.

So I'm thinking that when the opening says "only one knows the truth" they mean that only Rumple/Gold knows the truth about Emma being Snow's daughter and the one who can break the curse. Regina doesn't know Emma's true identity - she just sees her as competition for Henry (and I guess competition for Sheriff Graham).

Just wanted to add that I don't think Regina knows that Gold remembers his fairy tale identity - she might think he's also affected by the curse like all the other Storybrooke residents. I think she has some suspicions that he might know more than he should, but she's not positive he knows both lives.

ITA and well said. :thumbsup2

I have to agree. It's got to be Mr Gold who knows the truth. Regina doesn't seem to know who Emma is at the very least and she's the key to the whole curse being undone. If Regina knew that I'm sure Emma wouldn't be around anymore.

I believe Regina knows about the curse and whom is whom. I just don't think she's sure about who Emma is other than Henry's mother.

I believe Henry knows stuff because of the book.

I believe Mr. Gold know some stuff for the reasons I've already stated before.

4. I am still torn on Gold. Watching the pilot episode again, it looked like he was really struggling to get the words out when he was telling Snow White about Emma ending the curse. Almost like he didn't want to tell, but had to since he made the deal. As far as what he was doing in the woods, I almost thought he was burying a dead wolf until the wolf showed up in town again, so I was relieved and forgot about it. Otherwise... maybe he has his own passage back to the old realm? Otherwise why would Regina give him all of the stuff from there that he has- like the dolls and Emma's crib mobile? You would think that she wouldn't want anything that could potentially break the curse or spark a memory in her new kingdom.
How do we know Regina gave Gold the things he has in his shop?

Wow just watched the end. I was reading here and realized that I had to have fallen asleep for the ending. Poor Graham. :guilty:

At least now we know the Queen knows who she is, so that question is answered and with the preview, I am assuming Gold knows who he is.

Can't wait for next week!:yay:
It won't be a new episode next week. I think someone said the next new one is Jan. 8.

I think Mr. Gold was in the forest covering the secret HATCH...

Just kidding. To all my Lost buds:lmao:

And the wolf is TOTALLY involved in the final battle- he is the one that started it by keeping Emma in town!

I totally forgot about that. She saw the wolf, swerved and crashed her car. Do you remember if the wolf she saw had one red eye?

How do we know Regina gave Gold the things he has in his shop?

Right - we don't know if Regina gave Gold/Rumpel the things in his shop.

Maybe she did - she wants to rule everybody and keep them beneath her, so if she thinks Gold/Rumpel is affected by the curse and doesn't remember his fairy tale life, she may very well have given him the shop and its contents as an inside joke for herself. Sort of "ha ha - he had all this power in fairy tale land, and now *I'm* the one with all the power over him!"

OR - maybe at the time the curse took effect certain things "crossed over" into Storybrooke and EQ/Regina had no control over it.

OR - Gold/Rumpel has enough power that HE brought the stuff with him. He could be pretending that he "found" the knick knacks for his shop in Storybrooke and EQ/Regina believes him. After all, we don't know how much contact EQ and Rumpel had with each other back in fairy tale land. EQ may not know about Emma's crib mobile or the dolls or whatever.

One thing I'm sure about: EQ/Regina and Gold/Rumpel are the only ones who remember their fairy tale lives, but EQ doesn't know that Gold/Rumpel remembers. She might have some suspicions, but she's not certain; she thinks he's under the spell/curse.

For the record, I'm sort-of glad that the show won't be on this Sunday - it's the Survivor finale, so I won't have to choose which of my favorite shows to record and which to watch live.;)

What if Gold/Rumpel was in the forest looking for more fairytale stuff for his shop? If Fairytale land is actually beneath Storybrooke, then he'd have to dig for the items. I don't think EQ/Regina knows the significance of most of the things in Gold's shop. She'd have no reason to know about the dolls or Emma's mobile. I think she put the windmill in the shop on purpose (perhaps with a curse on it to cause the "memories"? ) Rumple likes chaos - maybe he's looking for items that may help Emma break the curse. He definitely knows who Emma is.

This is what I think too. I think he can freely go back and forth and he's the only one who really knows what the things in his shop mean.

I've been mulling over Gold's shop. When the prince sees the windmill in the shop, he becomes enchanted and "remembers" his Maine life.

Even though Emma was through the tree before the spell was cast, do you think that if she sees the mobile, she'll be put under the spell, too? She's already not able to leave the town.

I really like this theory though the butcher apron would be a bit overboard for this purpose.

Honestly when I saw him wearing the apron and digging in the woods my first thought was that he was out there burying a body...lol. Hopefully they fill us in before too long.

Two thoughts:

1) Mr. Gold is DEFINITELY outside of the curse. He seems to be the only one that can leave Storybrooke (other than Henry who was born outside of the curse). He had to have left at some point to procure the baby Henry for Regina...

2) That windmill is bugging the heck out of me. I think David/Charming remembers it from his previous life, not the modern one like Katherine would like to believe. I went back and watched the shepherd episode CONVINCED that I'd spot the windmill on his mother's farm, but it wasn't there. Has anyone been able to find it or mention of it in any previous episodes??

I think Gold is allowed to leave because that is what he requested. Remember when him and the evil queen made the deal he said as long as I am able to get whatever I want from you. ( The episode where Emma took down the tree)

I don't want Graham to be dead.

I think the "one" that knows the truth is Henry. Especially after he told Graham who Emma is.

I went back and watched that episode looking for the windmill too! I was so hoping it was on his mother's farm, but I think it's simply a device to make the curse start working on Charming.

I really like the idea that Mr. Gold/Rump was either digging up artifacts from the fairy tale realm or a secret passage to it in the woods. Interesting theory.

I also think Regina could be the Miller's daughter. I never thought of that, but it makes total sense. Great theories everyone.

Oooo, I like this theory!

Keep 'em coming!

I watched the pilot again this morning. When the EQ first walks into Snow White's classroom (in Storybrook) Snow White calls her "Miss Mills." So that goes towards the theory that she's the Miller's daughter.

ETA: The wolf in the pilot doesn't have a red eye.
