Has anybody ever used Once Upon A Child ?
We've purchased from them before and while DH was in there the other day he asked about how their business works.
They said they purchase the items outright and that it's not consignment.
Ok, I called the store 2 days ago and they said bring everything in. They call you in 1 hour and when you come back they give you a quote for what they will pay. She said it's all computerized so it dosen't matter who accepts your order, it's all the same prices.
She said bring everything in baskets, or boxes and that if something is a set try and have it matched up. Not to bring anything in bag.
OK, I spent a few hours yesterday, sorting, washing clothes, matching sets, folding everything nice and neat, cleaning out stuff, etc.
We had already had a pile of stuff from when we cleaned out DD room a few weeks ago. We found tons of stuff, new, unopened, never used, still has tags on, etc.
I took in a nice Graco Quattro double stroller, a matching Graco pack n' play, with a bassinett, and changer, a rocking glider, a crib mattress, a full baby room emsemble (I mean everything) all of the stuff from DD room (video games, movies, DVD games, DS games, computer games, all new unopened, un-used) 1 box of girls clothing, some new with tags and 5 moving boxes of boys toddler clothes 2-4T, all name brand Carters, Tommy, Childrens Place, Gymboree, etc. of the 5 boxes about 2 grocery bags worth still had tags on them.
it took me about 15 minutes to haul everything in the store. I came back an hour later and they offered me $41 for everything.
I was floored to say the least. I told them that was extremely low and they just kinda scoffed at me. DH and I agreed not to take less than $50 for just the stroller alone.
They were slightly dis-pleasant with me when I said I'd pass. Another girl came over and was like " Oh, did they go over the quote with you ?" I said yes, they did and she replied with " So you don't want the $41 ?" no, I didn't.
So then, it took me about 20 minutes to haul everything back to the car, since it was all dis-shuffled and not all pack up nice and neat how I had brought it in.
Was I just like wwwaaaayyyyyyyyy off thinking they would offer more. I mean when I called and asked about prices, there were no where near close to what they explained over the phone.
