I would also double check with your guide what the min direct purchase is for BLT. We are in the process of buying 75 points direct for BCV, but on the site it says the min is 160.
I was curious about the discount for the annual pass..I haven't been able to find that anywhere.
The discount is $100 off the regular price.
DVC only saves you money if you normally vacation at WDW every year or every other year in a deluxe resort.

True, but I would like to add the following: Good for you even if you visit yearly or every other year and stay at a Value or Moderate too. You are pretty much upgrading to a Deluxe/Villa for the same price. Also, thats only with the Disney sales they are offering (free dining, 40% off etc) now. If, like Disney brass suggests, that they are going to ween the public off of deals, then DVC becomes an even better value.
Its not a good investment. However, its a great value, if you vacation, or want to vacation at least once every two years at Disney.
The first contract you purchase will be a "master" contract with a contract number and a ".000" extension, for example: 123456789.000. If you add on more points with the same Use Year (either through Disney or via resale and at the same resort or a different resort) it will be a separate contract but tied to your master contract. It will have the same base number but a different extension: 123456789.001. Each contract has identifying information including the home resort for that contract and whether it was a direct or resale purchase. If it is a resale and was purchased after 3/20/11, Member Services will see that those points are restricted and cannot be used for cruises for example.
When booking at a DVC resort, if your master and add-on are for the same resort they function like one big contract. If you are booking in the "home resort" window (11 months to 7 months plus one day from check in) you can use points from either or both contracts to make your reservation. If your add-on is for a different resort than your master, you cannot combine the points when booking in the home resort window because they are for different home resorts. You can use points from resort A to book at A 11 months out and use points from resort B to book at B 11 months out but you cannot use points from A to book at B until 7 months from check in, even if you are an owner at resort B.
The home resort booking window should be called the "home resort points" booking window since it doesn't matter where you own, what matters is having enough points for resort X in your account if you want to book there 11 months out.
great!! thanks so much!
We have stayed in a moderate once..my husband didn't care for it. The last 2 years we did rent points and stayed at AKV...and I know that this is a gamble fortunately it did work out well for us on both occasions. I would love to stay at the Poly but I refuse to spend that much money just for a room...
Could someone possibly tell me the benefits of buying a small resale of points? I am not really sure how that works..
It gets your foot in the door without buying Disney's minimum. You can't do too much as far as staying at resorts for one years worth of points, but with banking and borrowing you can use 3 years worth at one time, so if you only go every 3 years it can work very well for a little amount of money. Using my 25 point OKW resale..banked and borrowed is 75, and a week at OKW, Studio, Value season is 80, so almost a week every three years for only owning 25 points. Just remember that resale points now have restrictions on them outside of DVC.
