Onboard Reception

That’s what they have been for a while though right? Didn’t they offer them on all cruises 24 years ago? So the Dream never had one then? Maybe they have sailed a few 7 day cruises by now though.

I don't remember that far back as to whether there was a reception or not on the shorter cruises. Least experienced with the Dream. We have only sailed her twice due to the short cruises. @PrincessShmoo knows all and probably has picture!

Well, I've only done one 4 night cruise and I don't recall whether there was a reception or not. I'm thinking at one time it was cruises of 7 nights and longer only. Then it was changed to 8 nights.

In 2014 we did our one 4 night Dream cruise. There was a Castaway Club Captain's reception

I just looked through some Personal Navigator’s on Disneycruiselineblog. I couldn’t find Captain’s Cocktail Reception/ Party in cruises shorter than 7 nights.

They don’t seem to change from year to year. Free drinks available (Fruit punch or a variety of alcohols). Photos with officers. A photo back-drop available.

As for Castaway Club Party (where we sit down and actually hear from the Captain), those were previously held on shorter cruises (my second cruise was a 4-night). We all fit in Fathoms. The next time we sailed, one year later, it took Fathom's, O’Gills and Keys locations to hold us all. 2014 PC was held on the pool deck and last week on the Magic was in the Walt Disney Theater. At some point along the way, they had to stop inviting the Silver (just too many people). The canapés were not served last week; champagne or apple juice to start, Rice Krispie Mickeys (plain or chocolate dipped) as you exited the theater. I had hoped for some number info (how many Pearls onboard, most cruises, something to recognize them. But just hand raising for your level.)

The interesting news was that they would be hiring 13-16,000 new cast members over the next few years to cover the upcoming new ship launches. All the ships should be sailing by 2026 (he may have said 2025). No news of new itineraries (other than the World Dream ship being based out of Singapore. But he hinted at S America. Years ago, the Captain talked about Alaska and Bermuda. You know how that turned out.)

Glad you're having a great time. Once you are back on land, you'll have to begin a new countdown until your next cruise.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the reception was only on 8 night and longer cruises. I had one recently but it was an 8 night cruise. I don't recall having one in the past few years on the Fantasy 7 night cruises

Hmmm..... could be an issue. Some countries in South American require a Yellow Fever immunization.
