Two questions:

I am sailing with my mom next week. We will be in the same cabin. Can we each book a placeholder for the 10 percent discount?

I can book Monday for the newly released dates, but I don't have an OBB discount to transfer. Do they allow holds on opening day; and if so how long? We are boarding on 5/17, but not sure the desk is open that first day to allow me to apply the OBB discount.

As long as you and your Mom have separate household addresses, each of you can book up to 2 rooms. For each of you, that means 2 rooms on the same future cruise (not that all 4 of your rooms have to be on the same cruise).

When you make an onboard booking, it's on the prevailing price of the cruise at the time of booking. If you reshop an already existing reservation (or hold) the discount is not on that price. Because, essentially you are cancelling the first reservation and making a new one while onboard.

So you could book on the 17th (Silver booking day opening). I looked at a recent Fantasy Navigator and the booking desk was open that evening for a short time.

Okay, my mom and I have different addresses. So I can book a cruise and add her as second passenger, and she can book a different cruise with me as the second passenger, and both cruises would have the OBB discount? Just want to be sure I'm understanding.

Yes.
