? on Use Year if I get points transferred

If we "purchase" points for transfer to our acct, do the transferred points go by our use year or the use year of the original contract for those points? Are transferred points treated the same way as our points if we need to cancel or change our trip?

I believe that you have to specifically request from the person transferring that they need to go into YOUR use year, say if it's Dec. 06. You need to make sure of that from the getgo.

Technically transferred points are to retain their original use year and resort.

If you have an OKW June UY, and transfer points to your account from someone else, say BWV August UY, and the person transferred from their 2006 UY, you would receive BWV points with an August 2006 UY.

In reality the computers have some difficulty assigning transferred points, so they could end up as Aug 2006 BWV points, or June 2006 BWV points, or possibly even OKW June 2006 points.

DVC has been working on the computer issue and reports are that transferred points do not morph from one resort/UY to a different resort/UY like they use to in the past.

At this point, no one knows for sure what would happen.
