On to healthy living......

Your Mom is probably right. I was in a wedding this past weekend and there were 5 bridesmaids including myself. 2 of them were very tall like 5'6" or taller and extremely thin and 2 of us were short 5'3" or shorter and about average weight and another was a in between height wise and is what I call spoon shaped (her weight resides in her hips, butt, and thighs). The fact is that all of us wish we looked like the other ones. The thin one's were jealous of our breast and how full we looked in the dresses - while the average one was jealous of their height and tummy and we all agreed that we wish we had more curves like the 5th girl. And she wished that she didn't have them! We all just laughed because none of us were really happy with the way we looked - even though we all looked great!

We are constantly plagued by what seems to be perfect women - they are everywhere in magazines, billboards, and commercials. The problem is they are not real women! No real women looks like that without professional help! I use to work for an advertising agency and graphic designers can do amazing things with computers - I've seen it! That is why I like Tyra Banks and Jenny McCarthney because when they go on talk shows they will actually point out what was covered up and changed on their body.

Not to mention sizes are so off - do not pay attention to the sizes of anything! I went to kohls and bought 2 pair of size 12 pants and they fit great! I have a pair of size 12 pants at home though that I can only wear on "skinny" days. My advice - ignore the sizes and concentrate on how you look and feel in the clothes that you buy. No one needs to know that you bought an X-large shirt!

Hi Wilderness!

Oh, I can sooooo understand the distorted body image! I struggle with it everyday. I cam from a very tight size 24 (should've been in a 26--I was in extreme denial!) to a size 6 (except at The Gap where I'm a 4--YEAH GAP!), but still look in the mirror everyday and think I'm overweight and unattractive. I pick out every little imperfection: my thighs are too big, I still have cellulite, loose skin, blah, blah, blah... Amanda's right, we can't compare ourselves to other women--especially those who have the advantage of airbrushing! Try to focus on feeling fit and healthy--the fact that you exercise is awesome! :)

I hope you and dh are better soon. My dh and I just yesterday made up from a fight nearly two weeks ago. Of course it was ALL HIS FAULT! I'm NEVER the butthead! :teeth:

Have a lovely Wednesday! :sunny:

 Wilderness,

I hope things were settled with DH. Whatever it was, it was his fault. I know that when I am upset, I always feel bad about myself and how I look. You are a beautiful wonderful woman. I know that pictures don't lie, but our eyes do. I cannot look at a picture of myself now, and I don't see any change from a year ago. We can't be objective about ourselves. Listen to your mom, husband, and most of all your kids. Kids will tell you the painful truth.

Keep up the good work,
Beth

 Hugs to you Wilderness. I really hope tomorrow is a better day for you. I'll be thinking of you.

 wilderness. I hope that today is a much better day for you filled with :sunny: & :teeth:. Take good care of you!

Hi Wilderness,

How are you feeling today? I hope you aren't working tonight, so you can just relax. Have a good one.
Beth

Hi Wilderness- I hope your spirits have lifted since your last post. We all have those moments. And yes- Mom's needs always come last, don't they?
Chin up as you head into the weekend-
Mary:D

Hi wilderness,
thanks for stopping by my journal, i hope you are feeling better about yourself, you shouldnt put yourself down, remember its whats inside that really counts & thats what makes you feel good inside & out. I know its easy to say & we all have our down days, just hope i have made you feel a little better & that your relatives comments have shown how well you are really doing.:wave2:

Hi Wilderness,

It must be tough going to a wake and seeing people you haven't seen in awhile, but obviously from the comments, they're noticing that your body is different!! That's great! I can't wait to get those comments again...so you are moving in the right direction!

I just pulled out my winter clothes and found all my size 10 jeans from 2 years ago when I was at goal weight. I hung them up in the closet and said, I'll be in them by spring....or else!

Sounds like you are keeping up with the all important exercise. I am starting up again after this cold. No more colds now for the rest of the winter!! I need to stay consistent with my workouts!

I am going to go sip on my water bottle now...as your posts have reminded me to do so...I even keep it beside my bed, so I can sip if I wake up during the night!!

Have a great weekend!

Went to the gym this am and lifted lower body weights and did 255 sit ups. I will feel this tomorrow for sure. I am doing at least 240 situps a day to get rid of this gut. I will go back later to do 60 minutes of cardio. The pizza last night was yummy! I will push more water today. I had a bowl of frosted flakes after my workout. Not the best choice but I don't think I can follow as low carb as I was before. I just don't want to. I will eat a salad for lunch and then pizza again tonight for dinner. Exercise and water are my keys and of course smaller portions. We'll see how this pans out.

WOW!!!!:earseek:

Did you say 255 sit-ups?! That is great wilderness! How do your abs feel today? I have been doing some extra ab work lately too. Hopefully, we'll both see some awesome results soon!::yes::

Have a great Sunday!:sunny:

My abs are a little sore today but I will be back at the gym later today to do more. I am starting to see a difference in my abs so I think I am heading in the right direction. I took my measurements last week and this week my hips are down an inch. No more movement on the scale today though. That's ok, at least there is movement on the tape measure.;)

Hi wilderness, wow you must be really fit, i count running up the stairs without losing my breath good!!!
I think inch loss is better than losing it on the scales, i will have to buy a tape measure & i'm gonna go for a long walk tomorrow you have inspired me!!:teeth: Take Care

Hi Wilderness! :wave2:

OMG 255 sit ups???!!! :faint: Congratulations on doing such intense and challenging exercise! WOW--you are *really* working hard and I bet you'll be seeing that six-pack in no time! And no, not the Budwiser kind!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Have a wonderful week! :sunny:

Hi Wilderness-
Good job drinking your water in anticipation of Chinese food. Like a pre-emptive strike. Hope things are going your way today.
Mary:D

Hi Wilderness,

Thanks for the PM. I will take your suggestions seriously. I promise.

You are doing a great job. I hat crunches, so I make all sorts of excuses. I am very impressed.

How was the chinese last night? Great job pushing the water. i hope you aren't too bloated today?

Congrats on losing an inch off your hips. That is awesome. I need to get my tape measure out again.
Beth

The chinese was good last night and again today. I must push push push my water as my rings aren't spinning so much on my finger and my face feels bloated!

I have to work today so no gym.:( Unless of course I get called off again.;) Really we need the $ so I shouldn't wish for that.

Have a good Monday. I am having some problems with my computer so I probably will not get to any journals today. It took me soooooooooooooo long to even be able to post this that I am frustrated.:(
