I love doing it! Plus I to have used the great discounts so many times over the years myself. It's hard to remember the days prior.

You can see in my signature, all the trips since Jan 2009.

My family prefers the Disney resorts over Shades, so before the Salutes we used Shades' overflow rates at the Disney resorts all the time. That was about 20% off. Not bad, but the Disney Armed Forces Salute rules!!!

I'm planning a late Oct Food and Wine trip right now...

I am waiting too! DH and I are going in September so will have use of the special tickets, but I am going again in February so am hoping for the special tickets then too. The trip in Feb. is extra special because I am taking a friend who has never been to the World. As a matter of fact, she has never been much of anywhere. She was born and raised in Baltimore and, at nearly 50, has not even been down into DC. So we are scrimping and scraping and pinching every penny to be able to go and these special tickets will be a huge help in getting us there.

Now, getting her on that plane is going to be a trick!

I have been stalking Steve's fb page - every year - waiting for the new deals. The 2009 deal was the best and our family is so thankful Disney offers these for us. As many have said, without these, we never would be able to afford a trip. Now we're looking forward to our Sept trip and this time taking advantage of MNSSHP military discount (which I had no idea about until Steve posted! Again a HUGE thank you!)
If only they would do Disney Cruise deals that were more than a few weeks prior to departure

We are from WA state and have a Navy reunion in Jacksonville this October. Of course, we have to take advantage of being in Florida and going to WDW. We have reservations at SoG and sooo hope there will be a renewal of the special tickets. SoG does have other ticket packages available, but not as good. We're on the email list for Steve and really appreciate that we'll know right away when the news comes out.

I have been blessed over the past few years to have been able to use the amazing Armed Forces Salute discount. We have been able to take some amazing vacations that we might not have otherwise because the discounts gave us the ability to upgrade our stays.

I, for one, am incredibly thankful to Disney for offering such an amazing opportunity for us military Disney families. It certainly makes those deployments a little easier knowing that when my DH comes home, we can go off to Disney.

So, I am anxiously waiting for the 2014 rates to be released and sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for word on whether the discount will be renewed. I have been stalking the Military Disney tips website (which is run by an AMAZING Dis'er SteveTLT) hoping for a renewal. Last year we didn't hear until August. I'm hoping for earlier this year, one way or another.

Yeah for this thread!! We are going 10/16-10/21 and are praying for the discount!! We were able to use the discount on our past 4 trips and have been blessed to stay at the deluxe resorts!! Now we are spoiled!! I think the reservation line will be SWAMPED when the discount is announced ( I'm claiming it!!). We were not able to get he military MNSSHP tickets due to the date we are going, so we need this!!

Now we are also waiting for the Disney cruise line to offer discounts!! Come on for summer 2014!!!!!

We are anxiously waiting also. We are currently book at POR for March 2014, it's Mardi Gras break for us. I cannot wait to see my 5 YO daughters face when she sees a REAL princess. I am deployed right now and vacation planning gives me plenty of mental distractions. I have Military Disney Trips bookmarked and I am on the mailing list. Facebook helps some too.

I have a question. Can you park hop with the 4 day tickets? Is that a new feature? We went last year for a short trip and thought that we were confined to one park each day.

The Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets come in 3 varieties:

Park Hopper $156
Water Park Fun and More $156
Both Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More $184

The park hopping option goes back to 2009, the WPF&M option started later (2010 I think) as an add on, then later an alternate.

Now we are hoping to go in November and would LOVE for them to have the same discount offered. If not, then I may talk DH into getting annual passes since we plan on making another trip soon, but we'll see!

We plan on staying at Shades and I'm just so excited to make plans!!! Until then, I'll just preoccupy myself.

Have you priced out the difference between SOG and the Disney resorts at all?

I know that with the 30, 35, and 40% offered at the Disney resorts, we can stay cheaper onsite rather than SOG (because my DH rank bumps us up into the higher rate tier at SOG )

This is a great point I have run into this too, alot of times I can get the value for same prices and mod for not much more. For bigger families though you cannot beat the price
