On the 2013-2014 Armed Forces Salute Watch!!!

Im doing my annual training in San Diego this fall. Going to fly the family out for a few days, and do a quick Disney Land trip one day. Just a little taste to get me through until the DW vacation!

Resort and room categories available are based on occupancy rates. My dates were 10/16-25 split between AoA and BC. Tried calling again to see what was available on my AoA (10/16-20) part of the trip and got a jerky impatient CM (until it was time for him to give his spiel on the survey). Said thank you and called back. Third time was a charm because i hit the jackpot of CMs. He knew exactly what I was looking for and spent 45 mins searching every available option. I ended up getting a BWI sv for three nights, checking in one day later on the 17th. If you're looking for options on 10/17-20, there were rooms at AsSp, POR (royal rooms only), YC (don't remember room category), and BWI sv and lv. Weekends in Oct are definitely limited but are available. I would guess that if you are booking for later in the promotion, you would have lots more options because their reserved occupancy is lower this far out.

we have a January trip planned with my ILs. FIL is retired military. do they have to call to adjust our reservations or can i call? i know they'll have to show their IDs on check-in, but do they have to provide specific information just to book? we aren't booking SOG.

I have a quick question for Steve. I will be traveling May 2014 with my DD. My husband is active duty Army but he will not be coming with us. I know in the past I was able to check in to the resort with my military spouse ID without my husband present. I want to make sure this was still true for the 2013-2014 discount. I know I can activate the tickets without him, I just want to verify that we won't have any problems checking in to the hotel.

Thanks!!! :)

Witches - I was the one with the name on the reservation at the Contemp. in 2012 with the military discount on the room and had no trouble checking in with my ID (spouse) of active Army. They just verified I had a military ID.

Thanks a million Steve!!! Has anyone been able to book a Std or Garden View room at the Beach or Yacht Club? I had existing reservations and they said the starting level for the Military discount was Water View? Anyone else experiencing restricted levels with the code?

I got a Std BC last night for the first week of Oct.

HI witchesbrew, Yep same as before, you'll have no problems. Have fun!

Just got off the phone with Disney. I tried to book AOA mermaid room and she couldn't get the discount to work. I was put on hold for almost 15 minutes while she got on the phone to try and trouble shoot and figure out why. She finally came back and said the discount wasn't available for AOA, the campground and somewhere else (I don't remember the third one) I was able to make a reservation at Pop for the end of Oct. I know the discount was good for AOA last year so if anyone has any luck booking it this year please post and I will call and try to switch the ressie.

Just checked with my travel agent and she has booked AoA non suite rooms at the AFS rates (new offer).

Can you only get bunk beds with the new military offer at WL? I already had a reservation and called yesterday to have the discount applied. They canceled my old reservation and put me in a bunk bed room. I told her I really didn't want bunk beds cause its just me and my husband on our 30th anniversary. she said call back in the morning and change it. also what I had paid didn't show up. Called back this morning and he told me that they shouldn't have canceled my old reservation but just applied the discount to it.
They reinstated my old reservation and put the money I had paid on it but I still have bunk beds.... :( I read somewhere else that maybe that's all you can get. Can somebody maybe help me with this? :listen:

I know I had a time with CRO yesterday, I was patient, but their computers were pretty much a mess.
I called today, and out of the blue they offered me a WL Honeymoon Room for dh and me at the Mil rate. Maybe it depends on your dates, how busy they are?

Man that would be awesome!!!!!pixiedust:

It seem at the WL it is hard not to get a room without bunk beds any more. My experience only. When I stayed at the club level no room was there with two queen beds, just one with bunk bed. I took the honeymoon room which had a king size bed. I was talking to the club level manage & he told me they converted most of their rooms over to bunk beds. Dumb I know.

But I do know they can't just give you a discount because you already have a ressie. It has to be there in their system. Maybe others had luck with doing this but in the past two years they wouldn't apply the discount to mine & I did talk to GR. I could change resorts but did not want to as I like the BWI.

I had to change my dates this year so I could use the discount. Plus it worked out better as my DH can get more leave built up and it will be my birthday during the stay.

This is my view only and good luck to those who was able to do that.

That they were. When I call at 11am got through really quick. She told yes the military was out but the computers were down and she could not book anything discount or regular rate. Told me to call back after 1PM and hope for the best. When I called at 1:15PM got straight through (thinking since it was that quick to get to a CM . Figure it was still down) I was able to make my trips. Just had to change the dates in December. The CM member was very nice trying different days at the BWI until she found dates that would work for us as well. She also said the wait time now was over 25 minutes.

When I called DH to tell him and then he asked me to add another day lol. This time it took me 45 minutes to get through lol

They did have my dates for the garden suites but due to health issues I can't do it.

Awesome! We should have a wine at the World Showcase.

I would love that! :goodvibes

I just got off the phone and yes, I was advised that the AOA LM rooms are included in the new AFS! :cool1:

I modified our food and wine stay to include the military discount, which was a process because our 1st two nights are in the old promotion and the last 3 nights are in the new one...so now we have 2 continuing reservations but military discount applied to all! pixiedust:

And, I booked our August 2014 discount at the Contemporary!!!! I only booked garden wing because of the whole stupid furlough thing and not knowing how that will play out in 2014 :rolleyes2 but I am happy with the reservation! ::yes::

Does anybody know if the military discount applies to the standard rooms at akl? Yesterday I tried to have the discount put on but somehow it ended up being a little more money? Unfortunately I didn't have time to figure out what was going on because I was suppose to be back at work. I know she mentioned something about savannah view so I'm thinking that is where the extra money came from. If I need to upgrade to savannah to get the discount I will be more than happy too because that is where I wanted to stay originally!

Thanks
