On the 2013-2014 Armed Forces Salute Watch!!!

That's prob right.. WL put me in a bunk room so I bet AKL have the discount on Savannah room... Cost more money... Bummer:(

After the discount and everything it worked out to about the same price that I'm paying now on the standard view. Like I said for the about the same price I'm paying now I can get the savannah view I'm in! Getting it for our disney moon so want to make it as magical and memorable as possible!

Does anybody know if the military discount applies to the standard rooms at akl? Yesterday I tried to have the discount put on but somehow it ended up being a little more money? Unfortunately I didn't have time to figure out what was going on because I was suppose to be back at work. I know she mentioned something about savannah view so I'm thinking that is where the extra money came from. If I need to upgrade to savannah to get the discount I will be more than happy too because that is where I wanted to stay originally!

Thanks

Yes. I booked akl and was given the option of standard, pool, or savannah views. This was yesterday.

Thanks a million Steve!!! Has anyone been able to book a Std or Garden View room at the Beach or Yacht Club? I had existing reservations and they said the starting level for the Military discount was Water View? Anyone else experiencing restricted levels with the code?

I Just booked a standard view room at beach club for over the princess half marathon weekend with the military rate so I guess it's simply due to availability as opposed to military discount restriction.

I totally agree with you about availability.

My experience in the past couple of years is that occasionally a phone CM will interpret lack of availability at that moment as some kind of "restriction". Availability changes frequently.

If there's something a guest is looking for, they should watch online for trends, and also call. No guarantees, but it really helps to keep an eye out. Being flexible on room category/level, helps, too-more options.

That is a perfect observation gwynne!

I just got off the phone for the second time! First CM was irritated from the get go so I had him check and was very gracious with my thank you for your help and called back. The second CM was the best! Even though he could't apply it to a Garden or standard room he went out of his way to check that it was done correctly yesterday as I had a Garden Level to start with for June 2014. Oh well, thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll keep trying!

We are going for the W&D half marathon in Nov. I already had a room and 3-day park hopper tickets booked using the RunDisney discount, but decided to call last night to see if the AFS discount worked out better. It wasn't a drastic difference, but it was about $170 cheaper. We had to change our reservation to the CBR, but that's fine with us. And we will now get an extra day in the parks. :)

We stayed at cbr a few years ago for the January marathon. A favorite of runners. The were tons there.

After looking again at the bed configurations at AKL, I decided that we really need to make sure that one of our rooms has a daybed, so I decided to call and see if CR w/theme park view was available for our dates.

The first CM, Blair, was not at all helpful...said "You want to change an existing reservation? I guess I can try". Then when I explained that I only wanted to switch if I could get the 40% military discount, she told me that she could only check one room at a time, and that discounts might not be available for all three rooms.

Then she started asking why I wanted to switch...wouldn't two queens be the same as a king and a daybed? What was the big deal? So, I thanked her, hung up, called right back and got a great CM who take care of it with no issue at all.

Has anyone been able to add the AFS discount to a room at POR or AOA for the first week of December? We have 3 kids so would prefer POR. They are showing no availability for the discount. The CM also checked the family suites at AOA for me and there is no availability there either. Hoping that something opens up or we will be going back to our offsite plan!

Witches - I was the one with the name on the reservation at the Contemp. in 2012 with the military discount on the room and had no trouble checking in with my ID (spouse) of active Army. They just verified I had a military ID.

HI witchesbrew, Yep same as before, you'll have no problems. Have fun!

Awesome! Thanks to both of you!!! :goodvibes

Just booked two woods view rooms at Wilderness Lodge for the end of January. SOOOOO excited!!!!

I know the Military Discount has 40% off deluxe, 35% off Mod and 30% off Value, but is there a list somewhere that tells you what type of room it covers cause its not on all of them evidentially.

Room type all depends on availability at the time of your travel. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for all you do, Steve!!!

We had to give up our 2 bedroom at BLT, since there was no discount...

However, we did get two CL TPV rooms at the Contemporary! A little more than I was hoping to spend, but we are celebrating my parents 40th anniversary! They will be SO surprised!:)

Ok. I have a dilemma. I was booked for Poly (standard room). I had two reservations, one room for my parents, one for us.

I called to have the military rate applied. They had to upgrade my parents room to a Theme Park view to apply the rate, but then she said there was nothing left available in that category for my room so she upgraded my room to Club Lagoon View.

Problem is, with these two rooms we will be in completely different buildings and that isn't going to work for us.

I asked to have same building and was told nothing was available.

Now what? Do I keep calling and hope someone cancels??:confused3

I should probably add that my parents are staying 5d 4n and we are staying 8d 7n.
So the other dilemma is where can I find the cost of the park tickets? I only see the 4 day tickets nothing beyond that.

Thanks for the updates, Steve! I was so excited to see your email with the 2014 Armed Forces Salute announcement! We booked standard view Boardwalk Inn for the last week of February with the discount! So excited! :yay:

I sent WDW an email today to ask about adding the armed forces salute tickets to the MyDisneyExperience account and this is what I got in response:

"Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

You are able to link the Military Salute tickets to your online account.
Once MyMagic+ is rolled out to everyone you will still be able to get
MagicBands and use FastPass+.

I would recommend keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for any future
updates. Please visit: www.disneyparks.com/blog

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

Haha! Love the little disclaimer they put at the end of the email! So I guess we will be able to link our discounted tickets.
Unless of course, for some reason, we won't be able to. LOL

I have salute tickets that I linked last week. No problems, they show up in my reservations list.
