This may be a dumb questions But just wanted to make sure this is correct. You can transfer points after the closing date on a contract. Or does transfers only apply to contracts paid in full. I will have 40 points left (SSR April UY) and am going to rent or transfer if allowed. I am sending in my payment to pay off contract in full but not until end of month.

I probably have this in wrong forum, Can a MOD maybe move it to the DVC Rent/Trade Board. I'm sure this has already been answered but for some reason I can't get search feature to work. Thanks

DVC forum is the right board, so we're in the right place. As for your question, ability to transfer has nothing to do with the payment status, as lots of ppl take out 10 yr financing, and are able to use and trtansfer their DVC points for all of those years.

The critical issue here, I would imagine, would be whether your SSR building has opened or not. Check with MS about when you points are usable/ transferrable. Perhaps ouir SSR experts can help you out here (there are a growing number here).

You have to be closed to transfer the points from what I'm told. Why not just bank the points to next year if you don't need them.

I already closed and my building is open. You make a good point on banking except I know that I am not going next year. I go on 1 or 2 trips a year, and next year it will be Australia only (Too far to fly and not stay at least 2 weeks). My Disney trips will be every 3rd year on average. I would love to go every year (love Disney) but don't have the time, and there is more to see in the world than just Disney. Although this is my third year straight at Disney, The reason I am going this year instead of somewhere else was because of DVC SSR purchase Timing was right, had money and am very happy because I bought at the $79 per point. No way I was buying into DVC and then not going for a couple years. Thanks for your replies

Then advertise them for rent or transfer but if you approach your banking window, go ahead and bank them then you'll have more time for a rental. You just can't transfer banked points.

By all means, use the Rent/Trade board to rent your points, since you are not going to use them. Sounds like you could also rent next year's points, too, so that will be helpful to have some $$ toward that Australia trip!! I don't think I would advertise those points as a transfer, though. Just say that you have points to rent, and if someone wishes for a transfer, they will ask you. Just make sure you plan ahead for how you want to be paid(upfront), and how far ahead(at least 31 days before arrival). Good luck!
