Sprinkles, definitely.

I know what Jimmies are, but call them sprinkles. Like soda instead of pop, just not the word we use in Minnesota.

We drink pop and put sprinkles on our cupcakes. :cake:

Never heard of Jimmies before.

Grew up in NY - called them sprinkles.

Live in Maryland now - still sprinkles.

I grew up in California and now live in Colorado and almost everyone calls them sprinkles. I was aware that they're called jimmies in some areas and would not look at someone like they had two heads for referring to them that way.

CT = Shots
Now, that's a new one to me! If I worked at Baskin Robbins and someone asked for shots, I'd tell them the bar was down the street. ;)

Growing up in the New Haven, Ct. area as a youngster, we always asked for some "chololate shot" on top of cones.

I call them Sprinkles. always. nothing else. I've been known to get confused easily so when people say Jimmies I never get it. and I live in MA. but it seems the people from MA say Jimmies. weirddddd...

Jimmies. Spent my early years in South Jersey. Then we moved to Seattle and everything was so different. No jimmies, soda was "pop," and the pizza was :crazy2:

Sprinkles. I never heard the term "jimmies" in reference to an ice cream topping until I was in my 20's.

Hmmmmm....maybe it has to do with where in MD you live....

When I was little I lived in DC...we didn't have either, we had the Good Humor man and you took whatever ice cream type thing he pushed out of the bars of his window. Then my mom moved just over the line in MD and we had sprinkles. When I was in Pittsburgh, they were Jimmies. I call them sprinkles.

Possible. :confused3 I'm in Baltimore. :goodvibes

I grew up calling them jimmies. DH told me the only people who call it this are people who grew up in SE PA. The DIS has proven him wrong bc other people not in PA call them jimmies.

I grew up in NE PA & have never heard of jimmies in 36 years!

DH grew up in the Wilkes Barre area, Plains specifically and he calls me weird for calling them jimmies. But hey he lives down here now so when in Rome...

Jimmies! :thumbsup2

I grew up all over the country (navy brat) so I can't help on the origin of calling ice cream toppings 'sprinkles' or 'jimmies.'

I live in NJ and we used both terms.

We always called the chocolate ones Jimmies and the multicolored ones sprinkles.

I'm pretty sure *Jimmies* is a brand name.

It also depended on where you bought your ice cream cones.

Mr. Softee and Mr. Tuscan ice cream trucks - Jimmies

Dairy Queens - sprinkles

South Jersey people including myself call them Jimmies:cool1:

Grew up in western NY calling them sprinkles. I don't know why, but the word jimmies annoys me.

Really? I got "jimmies" from my great grandmother we are in NEPA, maybe it comes from the older generations?? :confused3

I call them Jimmies.. Dont think any of my friends did, but we always spent a lot of time in Boston and the Cape and in my youth that is where I ate the most ice cream..
