My husband will be attending a meeting there this summer so I am thinking about joining him. Does anyone know anything about this hotel? I felt like the website did not tell me much. I can't figure out how transportation to WDW works there. Should I plan on using the shuttle bus or drive myself? Thanks for any help you can offer!

We stayed there in 2005 and loved it. Very quiet hotel with a great pool. There was a nice slide and a wonderful lazy river. We had a car and used that to get back and forth so I am not sure about shuttle service. I would recommend a car anyway, since the resort is not close enough to walk to any eateries outside the hotel. The hotel restaurants were expensive, although the poolside service was good and the prices were bearable. We found it to be a nice diversion from the parks and really enjoyed the pools.

Tortoni,

Thank you for the response. It sounds nice! Do you remember how long the drive to WDW takes? Thanks!

Good Morning,
We stay 3 months just north of Champions Gate and know the area pretty well. To get to Disney, hop on I-4 East right outside the front gate and it is about 5-8 minutes to the big Disney exit...figure and another 5-10 minutes to get into the World and to your parking lots. Very slick, you miss a lot of the traffic hassles on 192 and I-4 east of Disney.

To exit Disney, follow the signs to I-4 and go west to the "Kissimmee/Poinciana" exit. Kissimmee goes forever east and West...this is the very far west end of Kissimmee.

Not sure what you are doing for most meals, but we fell in love with a great little British Pub just west of you off I-4 on Highway 27 south...It is called the PUB. If you get off I-4, take 27 south about a mile or so and it will appear on your right...Green Building with a big sign...They have GREAT Shepherd's Pie (one is enough for two!) Fish and Chips and Kidney Pie...All pretty new to me, but I loved them...the Kidney Pie the least!!

The Omni itself sits out kind of the middle of nowhere and you can see it from miles and miles away as it is the only huge hotel any where around...The new big hotel at Reunion is a few miles away, but the Omni is still the dominant structure for miles...

There is nice little strip mall that has been completed in the last year that you will see as you drive in....It has a Publix, Sub shop, nice little Chinese Restaurant, and there are two big C-stores with gas and stuff...

You will definately need a car, as even the walk to the mall is pretty hefty...

I would ask for an HONEST answer from the desk if they offer transportation to Disney...Is the trans on schedule, or would you recommend we drive to the parks so as not to get stuck waiting and waiting on the trans??"

Enjoy...Ted

My husband and I stayed there in December 2005 and enjoyed it. I recommend joining their Select Guest program. It is free and it entitles you to complimentary beverage service each morning.

The restaurants at the hotel are pricey, but everything I tried was pretty tasty.

Thanks for all the information Ted! The PUB sounds great, my DH loves eating in the pubs when he is in England.

Thanks for the mention of the Select Guest Service, Hettie. Sounds like a great idea!

Hi. Just came back from Omni Resort. I ONLY have wonderful things to say about it.
We took our own vehicle to Disney only because of the convenience. I like to get in my car when i want and be able to drive away (as opposed to waiting for a bus to come get me). But I am sure the bus works well for others.
We went to publix one night to get some fruit for the room and then grabbed subs from subway.
The front desk was SO NICE!! They gave the kids bags filled with toys, refillable cups to have drinks during their stay, the pool was neat, clean, & very relaxing. Their lazy river was a LOT bigger than the internet made it out to be.
The herb garden outside was beautiful. The grounds were kept immaculate. We saw different animals roaming around close to the golf course.
The view from our balcony was worth the stay (in my own opinion). It was breath taking. We got up at 6am to just look out at the golf course, the pool, the sky.....just lovely.
Every member of their staff always had a smile and was willing to help you out in some way.
The coffee at Starbucks is in their lobby and YUMMY!!!
My kids loved the little snack shop with all the candy and chips (go figure)?

Well, enjoy your stay....

There is also a small pizza restaurant in the strip mall (they have other stuff as well) that makes excellent pizza. There is also a Walgreens.

My DH works at the front desk at the Omni. He recommends taking your own vehicle to the parks.

If you take I4, it should take you only about 15-20 minutes to get to Disney (assuming there are no accidents on 4). There are back ways though if there are any backups on the interstate. Just take Ronald Reagan Pkwy to Highway 27. Take that to 192 and go into Disney that way. It will take about 20-30 minutes if you go into Disney this way.

Another way to Disney without using I -4 is by going east on 532 when you come out of gates by the Publix strip mall, keep going until you get to the intersection with Old Lake Wilson Rd. (There's a CVS pharmacy across the intersection.) It's about 2 miles. Turn left and go up OLWilson Rd until you get to 192. (about 7min). At 192 you can either turn right and take the main exit for Disney, World Drive or you can turn left on 192 and at the next set of lights turn right on to Sherberth Rd and then right at the first set of lights. You will be on the Osceola Parkway right beside Animal Kingdom. Then follow the signs for whichever park you want. We take this shortcut when we stay in Windsor Hills which is near 192 but on OLWilson Rd. We also used OLWR to get up to 192 when we stayed down in Davenport. This way would be much quicker than taking 27 up to 192 then to Disney.
When you come out of Disney and want to go back this way to the Omni follow the signs for Animal Kingdom Resort area. As you get closer to that area follow the signs for Animal Kingdom Lodge. When you get to the Sherberth Rd intersection turn left and go back to 192, turn left and at the next set of lights turn right on to OLWilson Rd and follow that back to the intersection by CVS and turn right on 532 and you're back at the Omni.
It sounds complicated but it's easy.
