A friend of mine is going to San Diego in July (I'm sooooooooooo jealous) and she called me yesterday because they couldn't find a nice hotel under $250 a night (people always call me when they have this problem), so I got on-line and found her a special rate at the Omni Hotel in San Diego for $139 a night. She was thrilled and booked it, but I was wondering if anyone has stayed there? It looks beautiful on the website, but you know, I just thought I'd double check.

Now I gotta go back and listen to the Disneyland show for Pete's recommendations of what to see in San Diego.

Some of my friends actually just stayed there this weekend for a wedding ( I opted to stay with my parents, the price was right!). Overall they liked it a lot. The location is fabulous, right in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter downtown. Their rooms were nice; the only complaint was that the beds were small. They won the Omni on Priceline, so I don't know how that affected their room assignment. $139 for a downtown hotel during the summer is fantastic! I'm sure your friend will love it!

I've stayed at the Omni Austin and it is a lovely hotel. One tip. Have your friend join their free Select Guest Program and they will get free internet access. As well you get juice and coffee delivered to the room every morning. Very civilized.

I have stayed at the Omni San Diego about three times. I love the location!! Its right in the heart of gaslamp. The rooms are very nice. Bathroom has a unique feature. It has blinds you can open up to see the view when your getting ready. It has a bridge to Petco Park if your going to a baseball game. I know the red trolley is right next to it as well for transportation. The pool area is small but upscaled. The restaurant in the hotel was very good. Can't remember but I think its a chain.

ok I have a vague recall of the Holiday Inn right across from where the cruise ships dock being resonable in price, and nice. On price I have no clue.

And there is a motel near the gate of the navy base that was both cheap and crappy.
