OMG- Zhu Zhu Pets are they the new Cabbage Patch Kids????

I found 4 accessories today at a Walmart in Fayetteville, NC, but no hamsters. They only had 1 of each of the following 4 accessories (Hamster Wheel & Tunnels, Adventure Ball, Hamstermobile & Garage, and Surfboard & Sleep Dome).

So, I'm keeping my receipt in case I can't find the hamsters. I actually will probably donate a couple accessories and a hamster (if I can find one) to my daughter's school silent auction at the end of the month.

Not so sure the accessories will be of any use without the hamster , but I was afraid if I didn't get them, they wouldn't be available to get later.

I checked amazon today and they are one pretty penny.. Im not paying more than $30 for the little hamster and his house personally..

I ordered 1 set from Target because their shipping is outrageous! Confirmation page said it's due to ship 9/17. Also read an article where Target will have them in store in October. Maybe they are just now hitting shelves & will be plentiful in time for Christmas. Fingers crossed......

It kind of defeats the purpose of a small pet.
A great alternative I saw in a family magazine (don't remember if it was family fun or family circle)
Get together with a few friends, and purchase a hamster/ guinea/ whatever and all the accessories (cage, ball, etc.) together, and each household gets it for a week. Then the kids won't get tired of it so quickly, and they'll look forward to all of the responsibilities of pet care because it will finally be their turn again.

Am I the only one that thinks these aar kinda odd? They look like the rat that I bought my cat. Hey by any chance can you run one of these critters in a regular hamster tube? Just wondeing since I have so many hammy parts and I KNOW my sisters will want these!

I have never seen the commercial but watched the video when I saw it posted here. I thought "my DD4 would love that." Sure enough the next day she must have seen the commercial, because she is bugging me nonstop about wanting a toy hamster! I knew it was coming... Guess I'll be joining the crazy pet hunt!

I find it hysterical that my DD (4) just saw this commercial today and asked for one. Now I see that they're going to be the next "Tickle Me Elmo" and "Beanie Babies" and "Wii"

Amazon says they're out of stock.

Checked TRU today but didn't find any. The one person I asked had no idea what I was talking about so I'm not sure they have gotten any in yet. Or he was just clueless. I may check Walmart tonight. I think we should make a wishlist and pick up some for others and ship at the lowest cost so none of us get stuck paying ebay prices.

I contacted the company and was told they just started rolling them out (daily) to Walmart & Toys R us. Starting Oct 1st Target will get their orders. If you check Walmart 1st thing in the morning, they will likely have a case or so of items. The customer service email also stated that there are limited supplies but that inventory is going to increase as we move closer to the holidays. The one Walmart I shop at told me they get about 2 shipments a week (beginning and end) so just call and ask. In two days I've gotten almost every item including all the hamsters. I'm in NJ -- good luck to everyone on the mad quest for hammies

It was family fun. I think it was longer than a week, but yeah that sounded like a good plan to me.

Our walmart had the hamsters! They had about 20 of them too And a few accories (lots of the hammy beds)

I somewhat lucked out today. I called around the local walmarts today and the one about 35mins away had some in stock so I jumped in my car and rushed over there. When I got there, a woman was in front of them and had some stuff in her cart, I grabbed the last 5 hamsters, 1 blanket and 2 tote bags. The other woman had the house starter kit and some hamsters and blanets. I am so excited that at least my daughter and niece will have these if I get nother else. I will keep calling and will certainly be hitting the targets on Oct 1st!

We have a new Target opening in our area Oct 11th, does anyone know if Target gives away any giftcards or anything when they open a new store?

Our local Walmart had them stocked too- the different "pets" and then the plastic habitat/trails. You could always order online and have them shipped to store if your local store doesn't have them in stock, and don't forget ebates gives a 1% rebate for Walmart purchases online- it isn't much but it adds up!---Kathy

I think they're adorable , but they do look like a cat run around toy.

Are they expensive ?

The hamsters are about $8, and the house accessories run about $10-20ish...the beds and carriers I think were about $5 or $6.
I gave the kiddo one early for her bday and she was thrilled. My cat likes to lie around and watch it go . I can see this not being a long lasting play with toy, but then she could surprise me.
