OMG- Zhu Zhu Pets are they the new Cabbage Patch Kids????

Has anyone seen the Starter Set with Patches anywhere...except Ebay?? I have never seen it in Walmart, Target or TRU....so I am wondering where people are getting them from :confused3

Huge disappointment this morning :( A friend called me @ 10:10am and told me they were in stock on TRU.com.... I went on and sure enough-the hamsters were all listed as in stock! I ordered 2 (it was a 3 maximum) and it kept saying "no items in your cart"... I persisted and it finally went through-1 white one and 1 brown one.... I put all my info in... credit card, address, etc.... it processed and said to click for a receipt. The receipt page said "Some items are not in stock and will not be included in your order. You will not be charged for these items...." It was BOTH Zhu Zhu pets :( :( Bummer :( :( I was not a happy camper and tried calling (not that it would have made any difference I'm sure...) but after 40 min. of being on hold, I gave up and hung up. I'm guessing a lot of other people must have run into the same issue as well since the phones were jammed????? Oh, and by 10:24, they were back to being listed as "Out of Stock"

I'd like to know too..

Me too! :thumbsup2
I thought I was done until the new stuff comes out, but it looks like I missed something. :headache:I had forgotten all about this set, since I had never seen it.
Anybody, please let me know where this retails at.
I stalked Target, TRU, and numerous Wal-Marts for several mornings a week for months, and got everything else available, but I never seen any of these.:confused3

What time of day are people having luck finding everything at the stores? I was thinking about hitting the 24 hour Walmarts tonight in hopes that they might have stocked the shelves.

Also, did I see someone post the CVS sells them??

TRU started showing stock on all hamsters around 850 this morning. I was checking the site, it was out of stock, when I hit refresh it showed in stock and you still could not load it in your cart. Called in and girl said they sold out. :confused3

I used the link that someone posted the other day to preorder the giant city. Does anyone think we'll actually get it? The $3.49 filler that I added posted and they charged me over $7 to ship that! I think my shipping was a little over $11 total so they had better ship the giant city for only $4- if it ships at all. I won't believe it until I see it on my front porch step.

Well I just went out to three Walmarts and two CVS's. NOTHING, well other than one of the Walmarts I found an extremely rude employee. I asked him where they were (because there was NO spot for them in the entire toy section) and he was very rude and stern and let me know I was the 5th person to ask him in the last 15 minutes, that they are a hot toy and when they put them out, usually the first person who sees them buys the entire end cap. I was like aren't you limiting them and he was like nope. I was ticked off because he was so rude. I told him I understand that they are hard to find, I was asking where they were so that the next time I was in there looking I would have to ask! JERK

Then I called and asked my brother if Walgreens was going to get them and he rambled on how they are a waste of money and if they had them no one would buy them...oh if he only understood!

Hopefully I will have better luck online. So far none of the TRU alerts have panned out.

I was also able order from the link, I am just praying it comes. My dd is so hard to shop for this year! Keep me posted when yours arrives...I am confused bc the blurb said presale for 11-23, but if I review my order it says on on hold 11-12 and makes it sound like it will ship sooner. I will be super po'd if they oversold I don't get it.

Can someone tell me what age of child the Zhu Zhu's are for? I have a friend who is on a mad search for them for her daughters who are 10 and 12 (almost 11 and 13). I even asked her if the girls asked for them or was it her idea (she tends to baby them big time), and she said they both asked for them. I just thought they looked for younger children, but maybe I am way out in "left field". LOL! She isn't too computer savvy and I have been checked the boards daily to find out who has them for her.

Yeah, if I paid $11.63 to ship a $2.99 Lego, I'm going to be pissed. I got the email that my lego filler shipped, but nothing about my Zhu Zhu pet giant city, too. $11.63 is the total shipping charge for my entire order, they didn't charge me part of it.

It really depends on the child. I would say they are best suited for the 4-8 age group, but in my case I'm shopping for DD8 and DD10. The youngest one asked for them first, and then she showed her sister the commercial later, and she told me it would be really cool to have some of those, since I never let her have the real hamster she always wanted.
DD10 may tire of them quickly, and will probably never admit that she plays with them to her friends, who will probably have them too and not admit it either, since they are all trying to act grown up here lately. :rotfl2: But, since this is probably the last year she will actually ask for a "TOY", other than video games, I'm trying my best to humor her, and let her get what she wants. They grow up so quick.
Maybe your friend is in the same boat, her girls are at that age where, this may be the last year for toy shopping, next time it will be make-up and clothes, which isn't half as much fun.
My girls didn't ask for everything Zhu-Zhu related, just a few hamsters and some accessories, but I have had so much fun, on the "HUNT", that I have ended up getting nearly everything that they have released so far, (except the starter set with Patches, and I can't find that thing anywhere!:confused3) Sure the little critters will be thrown under the bed or in the closet after a few weeks, but oh well. Mom's had fun, DD8 will know that Santa really is real,:woohoo: if he can get his hands on these things, and DD10 will know that Mom really will do anything for them.:goodvibes

I know I was one of those kids who had a last hurrah with toys around that age. I got a whole set of My Little Ponies when I was around 11 or 12. I just thought they were so cute! I didn't tell my friends about them, but I really enjoyed playing with them. I bet your girls will be the same with the Zhu Zhu's. I think it is cool that they asked for them!

BTW, I'm heading to TRU this morning for more hunting. I'll report back later!

From what I understand, you don't need the 'starter set' for the hamster village to work. You could also use the 'fun house' as the main building then have all the accessories off of that. So you really have two options as the hub of the city..... HTH!

Same thing has been happening to me yesterday and again this morning! I don't think the Toys R Us site can handle the pressure. It keeps saying In Stock and lets me add to cart, but on the next screen says there are no items in my cart. Once it did let me get to the checkout point and then I got the same as you. Very irritating!

The same thing just happened to me. The site is showing availability for the white hamster, but when you add it to your cart and try to chekout, it says that your cart is empty. I called CS and they said that they are out of stock but the system had not been updated yet.

I have been able to get one pet, one accessory thing (bed I think it was) and a car. Will those work together without anything else if I don't find anything else? Will the car run on it's own on the floor or do you need the whole set?

I got up at 3 this morning and surfed all the ads, when no one had them I wne tback to bed. I called everyone when they opened this morning and no one had gotten andy in. Glad I didn't go out. I will be out early on BF but don't have my hopes up for then, and I will be surfing the ads early every Sunday till Christmas, but just in case I wonder if what I have will be an OK start or not. :confused3

The car doesn't actually 'go' by itself, the hamster pushes it. You should be ok. :)
