Wore my Dunder Mifflin t-shirt to the grocery store yesterday and no less than 5 different people commented on it. Note to self - do not wear shirt when I want to be left alone.
I enjoyed the marathon last night - they were actually episodes that I missed in the past.![]()
Dwight: You know you can always refinance your mortgage. We had a 15 year on our beet farm. We paid it off early.
Michael: Yeah, well, you know what? Nobody cares about your stupid beet farm. Beets are the worst.
Dwight: People love beets.
Michael: Nobody likes beets.
Dwight: Everybody loves beets.
Michael: Nobody likes beets, Dwight. Why don't you grow something that everybody does like? ...You should grow candy. I'd love a piece of candy right now. Not a beet.
Dwight: Let's get this roof going.
Michael: Stop it! [smacks Dwight's arm]
Dwight: Ow.
The "Old School" quotes thread had me thinking--it might be amusing to post favorite Office quotes somewhere (be it here or elsewhere). Since I'm watching Season 2 right now, here's one of mine, from the Office Olympics episode, when Michael and Dwight are driving back to the office after closing on Michael's condo:
By the way, there's a site that has full transcripts of ALL episodes, which is awesome.
Michael: Can I have everyone's attention please? Phyllis, Oscar, Ryan, who's supposed to be dead, can I ask you all a question? Do you all know what it's like to be disabled? Oscar?
Phyllis: Um, I had scoliosis as a girl.
Michael: No, never heard of it. No, a real disability, not a woman's trouble.
Creed: When I was a teenager, I was in an iron lung.
Michael: Wuh, how, how old are you?
OK, I have some way-cool news to share! A prop manager for The Office has been in Scranton since Monday meeting with businesses that would like to be mentioned on the show.
Our marketing person went and we were selected to be the official bank of The Office! Whenever someone has to cash a check or make a deposit, etc., they'll mention us. We have to send them fake checks, etc., and they may show our website on someone's computer screen.
I figured that you guys would be more interested in this than anyone else I could tell about it.
The beauty of it is that our main branch is across the street from Cuginos, where they've mentioned going to lunch on several occasions, so I guess it makes sense to have the bank right across the street.
I'd love that, but my DH who doesn't even watch the show would probably get to be in one of the scenes as an extra or something. We both work for the same bank. Me for 19 years; him for 18 years. Yeah, we like it here.Oh how awesome!!!!!!!! Maybe they'll film some stuff at your bank and you can get an autograph of Jim or something!

Yep, Poor Richards, the bar that they go to is in the South Side Bowling lanes. They've shown a Wilkes Barre/Scranton Peguins ice hockey jersey that Dwight gave to Michael for his birthday. Didn't it have "from Dwight" on the back? That is really coolI didn't know that shows did the tie-ins with local businesses....how cool for you guys!

They also have Froggie 101 stickers and Rock 107 stickers posted in their cubes. They've mentioned the Coal Mine Tour and Scranton Travel.
Lake Wallenpaupack does have booze cruises (in the summer.)![]()
We don't have a Hooters, although Hooters Airline did fly out of our airport for awhile.
There was an article in the paper the other day saying that in the past they've gone to one of my friends who works for the Scranton Chamber of Commerce for tie in ideas. They decided to do more by actually making it open to everyone.

The coal mine tour is actually very interesting. They take you on a coal car into the mine shaft and show what conditions were like for our grandparents and great-grandparents who worked in the mines. It's really an eye-opener. Young boys would be used to open and close the doors that contained air in parts of the shafts. Older boys (8yo's) would climb into the monkey veins to collect the coal that they couldn't mine in traditional ways because these boys would fit into these small veins.Thats a real thing ?!?! Too funny...
Well I never knew that they did all that...I will have to pay more attention to the names of places and the subtle advertising...it all seems to go over my head.![]()

They have a comments book at the end of the tour and the first time I was there I wrote that this was a good tour to prove that you needed an education in that era so you wouldn't have to work in the mines. I stressed the importance of education when we took our kids there a couple years ago. It was quite an experience for them to see what life was like then.
