Apple, NBC starting to resemble Dunder-Mifflin

Computer maker Apple Inc., stung by the announcement that NBC Universal would not renew its contract to sell content via the iTunes music store, has thrown a counterpunch.
Instead of waiting for the contract with NBC Universal to expire in December, Apple is pulling the media conglomerates shows and music from iTunes much earlier.
In a news release issued hours after NBC Universals announcement, Apple said it prefers not waiting until December because NBCs new fall TV lineup would be airing by then, thus putting iTunes customers at a disadvantage by allowing them only a portion of the season available for download.
Apples short statement, released Friday, laid blame for the contract dispute at NBC Universals feet, saying the media company wanted to raise prices of its iTunes downloads from an average of $1.99 per episode to $4.99.
Apple believes this would reduce consumer interest in NBCs downloads and subsequently diminish profits passed along to NBC Universal, instead of raising them.
We are disappointed to see NBC leave iTunes because we would not agree to their dramatic price increase, said Eddy Cue, Apples vice president of iTunes, in the news releases only cited comment. We hope (NBC Universal) will change their minds and offer their TV shows to the tens of millions of iTunes customers.
NBC shows were among iTunes most popular downloads, accounting for 30 percent of the stores sales, Apple said.
Media analysts accuse both sides of being childish. NBC Universal is considered foolish for eschewing iTunes over a price point that would not bring the media company a profit and opening the door for rivals ABC, CBS and other networks to sell more shows.
Apple, meanwhile, is labeled as infantile for pulling NBC content early and costing NBC Universal millions of dollars it could have gleaned from iTunes sales between now and December.
Regardless, NBC Universal provided iTunes with a third of its most popular video downloads, whereas iTunes is behind only Wal-Mart and Best Buy in media sales nationally. Right now, it appears that Apple, basking in the glow coming from iTunes popularity, holds the better cards.
But the whole situation makes one wonder if maybe both companies are being managed by Michael Scott.

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 4th Season 3 is released on DVD!!!!![]()
We've been counting down the days!I'm trying to decide whether to buy it at Target or Best Buy.
Target is selling an "Exclusive Deluxe Edition" that comes with an episode script, and a cast and crew question and answer session from the Museum of Radio and Television.
Best Buy is selling a "Welcome Aboard Kit" with nifty gifties. The DVD set comes with a Dundie Award and a Dwight Schrute mini bobblehead.
I'm leaning toward the Target set. Then again, the mini bobblehead might be kind of cute. But, I have a regular Dwight Schrute bobblehead already.
Decisions, decisions...

Creed Thoughts
I have this computer at home. A friend needed to get rid of it fast and he needed a vacuum, so I traded him. Anyway, I dont even use it that much. Sometimes if Im going to a coffee shop to look at women, Ill bring it with me to look busy, but thats about all.
The other day, I overheard some dudes at work and they were talking about some internet video of water buffaloes fighting lions. I dont know about you, but thats the kind of thing I can build a whole night around. I stopped at the supermarket on the way home and picked up some things to get me in the mood: Buffalo jerky, buffalo wings, Frosted Flakes, some cupcakes, and a bottle of white wine. (Side note: I couldnt find any lion-related items at the store, so I settled for the Flakes because of the Tiger. It was the best I could do.) When I got home, I was really jazzed for a good old-fashioned jungle fight. I turned on my computer and boom nothing happened. Just a weird clucking noise and a black screen, so I did what anybody would do. I punched my computer and then I called tech support.
