Planning a trip for September, but a bit nervous...

I've also heard people claim that there are more cockroaches in the parks post-covid than before. Have any of you witnesses an increase in creepy crawlies?
ah seriously, really??? come on now be real. "people say " first peeling paint and now cockroaches. sounds to me you dont really want to go and are trying to get all of us to validate what the big bad interwebs is saying about the parks so you can go to your mom and say, look, I was right Disneyland is not a good place, lets not go.

Not at all. My mom and I just booked our trip a few days ago. I'm just trying to be prepared for anything, to ensure my mom and I have the best trip possible. Full disclosure, I'm on the autism spectrum, and I tend to be VERY detail-oriented. I've become a bit of a worrywart over the past few years, I admit. A person's intentions can not always come across right online.

I guess as it takes so much effort for me to get to the parks, I have to fly 10 hours from half way around the world and international tourists were banned from entering USA from March 2020 to November 2021, I sometimes feel Americans take the parks for granted. Going to Disneyland is a privilege and coming up with these so called excuses that you see people on the internet say , to me is a bit much.

Look, do whatever, go or not go, all I know is that I was there a few weeks ago and I have been there 4 times since 2022 and I dont take going there for granted. There were some dark times in 2020 and 2021 and I was one of those people watching YouTube live streams who just wanted to be able to go to the parks and was not allowed to by the USA Government. When things get taken from you by something out side your control, it gives a very different perspective.

Fair enough. Believe me, my mom and I do not take the parks for granted at all! I definitely agree that it's a big privilege to go to Disneyland and it shouldn't be taken for granted. If anything, trying to be prepared for any potential hiccup is my way of making sure we get our money's worth and have the best time possible. I hope that makes sense.

I, too, am on the spec and here's what I recommend: take with you that which comforts you (mine is a variety of plushies), try not to obsess about every little thing, especially those you can't control, find YOUR happy place, do what you feel like you can handle (not what others or a guidebook says you should do), andwhen it all seems like too much, go and take a break, either have a nice cup of tea, a cool drink, find a wuiet place (and there ARE quiet places at the park). Listen to your inner voice, it will never steer you wrong. Also, take breaks in the afternoon...it will clear your mind and refresh you for the evening.

I know it's hard but let go of the things you can't control.

I usually go a few years between Disneyland trips. When I was there last May, some of the Main Street shops had that musty kind of odor that you smell in antique shops. I think it's more of an age thing, not a maintenance issue, but it was the first time that I ever noticed it.

Luckily that particular thing wouldn't bother me too much, as I love antique stores and doll shows ;) I have a large vintage doll collection, and I know the smell you mean, I call it the "vintage-y odor", kinda hard to describe, but anyone who's handled vintage objects quite a bit knows it.
