:guilty: How do I tell this story. I can't believe its really happening to me. A little back story. My dh is working in another state. He's due to arrive home tomorrow afternoon. About a month or two ago I got a new puppy. I just finally told him about the dog. He wasn't to thrilled about it but oh well. Dog is here to stay.

Fast foward to today. I put said puppy in the kids bathroom (we're still potty training). I leave to school (my third day) around 9 am . I have a whole day of classes from 930 to 230pm. So the puppy stays in the bathroom for about six hours. She does real good and doesn't have any accidents. Well today when I pull up to the driveway I see water coming out of my garage. Umm ok a water heater pipe must have broke. So I go inside and head straight to the garage. When I open the door I hear water POURING Down. I look up and sure enought water is coming from the ceilling!! OMG!! I run upstairs and the carpet is soaking wet in the hall and my dd's bedroom. I open the door to the bathroom and water comes gushing out the door. I'm so shocked by all of the water. I hear what sounds like the shower is on. Nope not on. Wheres the water coming from. I look at the toliet.

The said puppy chewed a whole in to the hose that runs from the wall to the toliet!! I'm freaking out. I get a hold of a wet vac but yeah like thats gonna help. I call my neighbors husband and he rushes over. So here I sit with my carpet pulled up and drying out the padding is outside drying.

The best part of all is that I think dh is on his way now!!!! Uggg. I'm so upset I don't even know what to do.

I think I'll go and dig a hole now so I can be burried in it! Anyone got a shovel I can barrow?

Oh man, you're toast :sad2: This doggie better be cute.

Seriously, you need a crate immediately. Six hours is a long time for a puppy to hold their urine and be alone--you wouldn't expect that of a 3yr old :confused3 I'm really sorry your pup decided to entertain himself this way, but really, you must put ihim safely in a crate when you cannot have your eyes on him. He could have choked or bitten through an electrical cord and burned the house down. A whole house flood is bad enough!

:grouphug: Here's a hug for when your DH comes home. Good luck

:grouphug:

Depends on your policy. I worked for an insurance company for years and we covered a lady who 'accidentally' dumped a gallon of paint in the middle of her floor. She got new wall to wall carpeting out of it.

Flood they wouldn't have covered, but thankfully this isn't a flood or back up of sewer & water (here you need special coverage for that too)

Good luck!

:grouphug: depending on your policy it should cover it I think ( Im no expert though)

Good luck!

Uh-oh...bad, BAD puppy!!!

I hate to say it, but I did laugh a little bit reading your description...I can only imagine your horror.

That said, take a deep breath....it is going to be ok. Someday you will laugh about this. Until then, get a crate for the little monster.

I can tell you a similar story, if it makes you feel better. My sister got a boxer puppy and he was an adorable little thing. He had just gotten to the point where they could 'trust' him alone in their apartment for small periods of time.

They left to go to a convenience store for about 20 minutes...yes, 20 minutes. When they returned, he had somehow found a small area of carpet that was loose at one end of the living room and systematically ripped a 3 foot strip of carpet up from one end of the living room to the other. Like 30 feet of carpet ripped up...carpet they did not even own. They could not even open the door because it was all bunched up in front of the door. What a mess! And it's not like you can just replace a strip of carpeting in the center of a big room like that. It ended up costing them several thousand dollars to replace.

They laugh about it now. But man, my sister told me she could have thrown up when she saw it.

{{{hugs}}}

Oh, no! I'm assuming that insurance will cover you and everything will work out ok. Of course it's a pain in the rear, but you'll get through this. I agree that you need to crate train the puppy--that way you won't need to worry about any more damage. Of course you're really going to have to make this up to your husband... Remind me to tell you my Texas flood story tomorrow when I have more time.

ugg! thanks for the story.

Yep, we tried to bathroom our Boston puppy. He tore a hole in the middle of the linoleum floor..........right in the middle, brand new linoleum we had just installed before we got him. We went right out and bought a crate and have used it ever since!

Ouch. I would check my policy if I were you. I agree get a crate.

They covered my basement when my Grandpa did almost the exact same thing!!

:lmao:

Ummmmmm....I meant he flooded the basement, not that he chewed the tiolet hose.

LOL...I swear, puppies go into some sort of freaky frenzy when they are alone. I mean, the destruction they can cause is amazing. Who would think a puppy could tear a hole in the MIDDLE of a linoleum floor?

LOL, boy...that story would be worthy of it's own thread if your grandpa chewed a hole in a toilet hose.... :rotfl:

Should I be taking pictures of the carpet and ceiling in the garage now? For proof. I wonder if they will cancel my insurance for making a claim? Anyone have experience with Geico's homeowners insurance (travelers)?

I'm living a nightmare I just wanna wake up now.

Definitely take pictures, never a bad idea. Just call your agent in the morning, they will tell you what you need to do and if it could affect your policy.

i would like to see a pic of the BAD puppy!

Sounds like you need to get a crate! I'm a big supporter of the crate, for the safety of your dog AND your house!

Good luck with your DH...
