Omg!!! Go White Sox!!!

The Stos are not playing well. 5-6 times having a man on third, and not getting him home. Wrong pitches to the wrong players. mistakes in the field, highlighted last night by what should have been three errors in the 2d. The Stros do not look like a ws team right now. Maybe home park will help. If Roy is on his game, we will have Tuesday's game. Wednesday is iffy, but, if Bakke is on, they could pull it out. Thursday is scary, but, looking at the Rocket's history, if he is well enough to pitch, he will probably be nasty and unbeatable. If, of course, he is well.

But, even before the game started, I commented that the games should be played in conditions that don't suck. last night, they sucked....I think its BS (and not sour grapes) that baseball is played in the rain at 40 degrees. I know both teams endured, etc., but, for the biggest games of the year, for both teams, MLB should ensure that either the parks can guarantee a stable weather environment, or, if they can't, the teams play elsewhere.

And where is there such a place where you are guaranteed a stable weather environment???? :confused3 :confused3

These guys are paid how much money, so they should be able to suck it up and play in different conditions. Otherwise, maybe they shouldn't be playing professional baseball... Just my opinion...

Regarding the rule that the roof is closed if it's under 80 degrees. Ok. Sounds reasonable.

I don't believe there is a precendent for when it's colder than a certain temperature though. This issue hasn't come up before to my knowledge. I thought a major purpose of the roof is to make the fans comfortable.

The retractable roof is opened so that the sun can grow the grass and for those days where the weather is beautiful. It's closed when it's raining or too hot (or too cold!)

And what's wrong with using our stadium for home-field advantage? (loud fans)

I agree with others that this should not be used as an excuse if the Astros lose, but it is irritating to not have the perogative of making the choice ourselves.

All I know, if I were the guy that maintained the retractable roof at Minutemaid Park, who's fault would it be if the roof were to become stuck in the closed position? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Stranger things have happened in other sports (New England snow plow plowing the exact spot where a field goal was to be kicked from?)

I'll admit that I am as passionate as the next fan.

LET'S GO ASTROS!!!!!!!

noise or no noise i don't care... i just think that if we want it closed then that's how it should be. does the dps tell you that you have to drive with your top down in your convertible? Why would they allow us to build a retractable roof? So that WE had the option of opening and closing it.We played in your crappy weather, so u can play in our climate controlled stadium.... and if the astros lose it is not about the roof so don't go there

Oh boo hoo!!
Again...according to MLB, the Astro's (yes, that's right) say they only keep the roof closed when it's ABOVE (key word) 80 degrees! MLB is just keeping that rule in place...You seem to not want to comprehend that...

Oh, and i'll "go" anywhere i want! :rotfl2:

okay i understand that but there is no policy indicating that they HAVE to keep it open. They WANT it closed so they should get it closed. MLB just wants an aerial shot of the game, but what they should do is give us a real home field advantage. We closed it for a majority of our games so we should keep it closed.

You know I am gunna put something out there just because MLB seems to be in control of the issue. It's all about dollars and since the noise factor is supposed to be crazy loud do you think that would make for a good broadcast? & the pics. Has anyone heard that the WS want the roof open.

Are the Astro's the only baseball team that plays in a dome?

I am really excited for the game tonight I have heard so much about your pitcher and well Garland let's see what he's up to tonight. I just like all the personalities of all the players.

Now to figure out what we are eaten tonight in front of the tv Hmm....of course that's the best part!! :rolleyes1

YES! Snacks, Snacks, and more Snacks along with a couple of cold ones!

Ha Ha Oh MY!!! I think I'm outta cold ones :earseek:

The first thing we did when we got to the park Sat. was get a hot dog and ate it before we even went to seats. That had to be the best hot dog I ever had!!

I really thought I would never see this day. 2 games to go. :cheer2: :cheer2:

OK, so close the roof if it will stop the Astros fans from whining. I don't think the White Sox will be scared if it is noisier when the roof is closed. The Sox have the best road record in baseball, including 4-0 in the postseason. Boston fans are pretty intense and the Angels fans get into it when the Angels are doing well with those thunder sticks. I don't see the Sox playing possum just because its too loud. Closed roof might help the Sox, they can hit the longball........so close it so the fans of the Astros will have one less conspiracy to cry about when the champagne is flowing in the Sox clubhouse.

I agree!!! One less thing for them to complain about!! Please - did they really think they can only play in perfect weather conditions??? Boston and New York are also cold and rainy right now--would they be complaining then too or only because they're LOSING??

GO SOX!!!!!!!!!

Dang, such hatefulness on this thread. Strange but this didn't happen with St. Louis.

oh good god, it's baseball talk!!! Thank god people in Chicago have a sense of humor!! :rotfl:

If you say so.

I'd say the Asro's fans have been just as nasty on this thread....and the title of the thread says Go White Sox so what did you expect.

On a lighter note.....GARLAND HAS TO HIT!!!!!!!! :earseek:

I never commented on who was being nasty on this thread. But if it's only "baseball talk", sorry for saying anything. Carry on. :goodvibes

I would have to say that the Texas people have been making a bigger deal out of the weather and the roof than any of the Chicago fans. We are just rooting for our team. If you have a problem with that then don't post on a Go White Sox thread!

GO SOX!!!!!!!
