Wow, never heard about the hairpulling, only the asking of WS fans to see if the Astro's fans had sox on. That was hilarious because it was freezing. But I think all were sockless. I was in the Stadium Club with my special needs son, but DH said the Astro's fans were cool.

Now you should be there during the Crosstown Classic, not pretty.

I just think its a shame that a game that is important could be tainted by weather. Not that it was last night, I am not blaming the loss on the weather, etc. But, it is a shame to see the conditions so bad for a game so important.

Re: The bad call, I don't think it lost the game. Plus, these umps are better than the ones we had last series. And, if the Sox couldn't get bad calls to go their way, they probably would not be in the w/s.

Re: Roy, he has a fastball that is about 95-97 for the game, with change/curve etc. that is about 20mph slower. His control is usually excellent. Plus, he is a fast pitcher, no lag time.

I hear mlb will make the call on the roof. I think that's bs too. Astros stadium, Astros call. When the roof is closed, you can't hear yourself think. When open, its almost there, but not all the way due to the open roof.

The wind when the roof is open swirls more, as the stadium is closed in.

But, I can almost guarantee that none of our fans are going to be pulling the hair of ladies with sox outfits on, harrasing fans, etc. like you guys did to the Astros fans in attendance.

Oh please, were you there? I've been to plenty of Sox games in full Cubs gear, and yeah, was teased, but all in good fun.

trust me, when the temp. reaches the triple digits like 105 and above and the humidity is unbearable, you do not want to do anything outdoors! And our neighboring country Mexico doesn't help any bit either. With their factories and our petroleum plants, we suck in smog like you wouldn't believe. So, I happen to enjoy our first class stadium, that way I don't have to rub elbows with smelly, sweat drenched strangers...

I do giggle when I see the signs that say Minute Maid Stadium!!
I know US Cellular took over Comisky, but at least we can call it "the cell".

ah...yes our orange juice stadium is a lil cutesy for baseball but its better than the Enron a**holes who put many out of work and retirement funds...I do love our train with it's cargo of oranges... I take my kids to the games all the time and they go crazy over it

oh BTW what was the actual temp on the last two games? right now its 56 here in Houston and I am freezing! I know many of you in Chicago are laughing... but this is winter for us! I'm getting out the scarves tonight! Does anyone know how long this front will last and if the stadium will be open or closed tomorrow? 70-75 will be perfect for tomorrows game, but unlikely to turn out that way. And i think someone said earlier that football players play in bad weather all the time... but remember they are running 95% of the time, they aren't standing in one place like pitchers are... oh and just curious but are the dugouts heated in Chicago?

It would be a miracle if we saw snow, but i think like a year or two ago there was some snow but once it hit the ground it melted. Does that count?

I find it hard to believe women had their hair pulled because they were rooting for the Astros. I haven't heard anything along those lines. As for the weather, it wouldn't be any better in Boston or New York right now either, the World Series isn't meant to be played in warm climates every year.

Oswalt is a very good pitcher, but you are forgetting that Jon Garland is no slouch either, he led the AL in shutouts this year. It is possible for Oswalt to pitch his a** off and still lose 1-0. Then on Wednesday when you have Backe going, we have Freddy Garcia, who is as good as anyone pitching in this series. The Sox pitching is too deep with a 2-0 lead, but good luck, that's why they play the games.

I just read in the paper today that someone ran up behind Craig Biggio's wife and pulled her hair. He was caught immediately by WS security. No charges were filed. Ozzie said just bring him to me in the dugout.

MLB says roof should be open. I don't get it though. Roof has been closed all through the post season. Why is there a difference now? Sounds like MLB wants to help out the sox, and try to take away the home field advantage. Regarding heaters in the dugouts, I read reports that there were none for the Astros. Where was MLB then.

Tonight it is supposed to be in the 50's by the late innings. If anybody has spent any time in Houston, they would know that this weather is almost "ladies in fur" weather, and, is unusual. It is even more unusual, I think, for MLB to come in and tell a team how to position their stadium. It would be like MLB telling Chicago to cut all that vine off the wall (Opps, thats the other team, without the history of 1919).

I know, low blow, but, what the heck, with MLB acting as they are, and the umps pulling for the sox in this series as well as the last one, maybe MLB has some money on the sox, and history is being re-lived. I know, conspiracy theory, but, it should get some sox lovers hot and bothered.

I took my boys to the St. Louis series in St. Louis, and could not say a bad thing about the St. Louis Fans. Everybody went out of their way to treat us nice. I did not go to Chicago for the simple reason that I was unsure of what the atmosphere would be like. I think I made the right choice. Besides Biggio's wife having her hair pulled, and then slapped, other wives reported being cursed at, flipped off, kids of course, being there. Other Astros fans have reported having food thrown at them. I know its a few people doing it, but it is something that casts a black eye over the city. I for one know that I am not going to slap.throw etc. anything at the sox fans that may be around tonight. How will I know they are sox fans----they won't be shivering and their teeth won't be chattering....

Doesn't MLB have to approve of a stadium before it is even built? Why did they allow us to build it this way if we can't even open and close it when we feel like it? I guess they thought we'd never make it this far, so they said do what you want... and I don't think the open and closing of the stadium is just for the comfort of the players, most Houstonians are not comfortable in temps below 70 and plus there would be no stadium if it weren't for our taxes.

Well, the hair pulling and slap to Biggio's wife was on the news and not just the local news... so that's probably where he heard it from

Here's a link to the story about Biggio's wife in the Houston Chronicle. It sounds like there were a few bad fans that nobody would want to claim. Both cities and baseball organizations are class acts.

As for the roof being open or closed, it is largely for the comfort of the fans, the consistency of conditions like wind, etc. If you're not from here, you forget that we've played baseball inside since 1965! It's actually unusual for us to play outside! I don't think mlb should have a say about it, but we'll live with it, won't we?
