We were seeing ads for the Olympics in High Definition. There was the hype "See the Olympics in HDTV!" Well, we keep checking & all they're doing is showing the Opening Ceremonies in HD, over and over and over... So far, we have NOT seen any events in HD! Is this just our local NBC affiliate doing this, or is there really no Olympic coverage in HD?

I've been seeing the same thing. I'm really bummed, I've been waiting for this. DISH Network has been advertising this as 24hr coverage in HD, you'd think they would actually show some events.

Do you both have adelphia cable by any chance? We had that same problem, but only on our regular NBC station. When the opening ceremonies started at 8pm Friday night, we saw an hour of the Salt Lake City games, then the opening ceremonies from Athens. It then proceeded to loop continuously. I went to the Cable office on Saturday to complain, and they looked at me like I was nuts. They then said that they have been having trouble with NBC, both regular and High-Def. They had been feeding the High-Def. channel to the regular channel assuming it would be the same. So for 24 hours we got to watch Todd and his neighbors(the only commercial shown), and the opening ceremonies. Good Luck!

We are watching the Olympics as I type this in HDTV, it's through a comcast box channel 807. It is just like you are in the pool with them:D
Hope you get to experience it soon!

I think NBC is trying not to compete with itself. When the regular network NBC is showing events, I've noticed that the HD channel shows the opening ceremony over and over. They're not filming everything in HD just certain events.

Don't forget about CNBC, MSNBC and Bravo. Right now I'm flipping between swimming (HD), tennis (BRAVO) and mens' basketball (CNBC) along with the Today coverage on NBC.

Our cable company has put an "Olympic" topic on the main menu which is very handy. If you have digital cable you should check your main menu.

Yeah, it's really annoying, isn't it? I watched part of the opening ceremonies again yesterday in HDTV (skipped the parade of nations 'cuz it's soooo boring), but I wanted to watch some sports, so we switched to the regular channel.

I love having HDTV, it looks so much better. The opening ceremonies looked spectacular and it was great to be able to watch in HD. But not over and over and over and over!

OMG!! I know!! How annoying is that!? And the regular network isn't broadcasting them in hi def!! Ugh!

The 2002 games were the same way. It is annoying to have to watch it 'secondhand'. But one day (hopefully), everything will be HD, and this delay will be a thing of the past.

I don't mean to insult anyone...but

Do you all have an HD receiver (either "over the air" or through satellite or cable)?

Many people don't know you need a receiver box if your tv doesn't come with one (they usually don't).

The "regular" affiliate never broadcasts in HD, it's a separate channel.

We live in Indianapolis and have HD with BrightHouse cable. Coverage has been fine, Saturday night saw swimming, biking, etc.

The service guys told me they only service 1 or 2 HD customers a week, they do about 100 calls a piece, so that's 1-2% with HD. Therefore, we have no "power" to get more channels.

Does anyone else have trouble with their CBS HD channel having the audio go in and out every few minutes? We moved, the problem remained, cable company thinks I'm nuts even though they hear it too at my house!

I have HD through DISH Network.

I believe Kasar is right that NBC owns all the channels that the Olympics are being broadcast on and they are trying not to have them completing with each other.

DISH also has a special interactive program where you can see all 6 channels at once to get a preview of what is on each channel(not including HD channel 148 or 9425)).

I have seen some events in HD now, but they are still running the opening ceremonies in between.

Is anyone else sick to death of that commercial yet? The ONLY commercial? We mute it and make up our own script.

The HD coverage is being done by a Japanese company hired by NBC. You can check out the TV schedule on NBC's Olympic website. It appears that they are doing 6 hour blocks on the HD channel and there are some repeats.

I haven't seen any HD coverage because of Charley. It seems our local affiliates HD station is not a priority for them. ;)
