Olivias Questions...

We will be arriving March 18 for our second stay at OKW We did not get a chance to dine at Olivia's last summer. Would you make reservations for breakfast, lunch or dinner? Are the waits normally long with or without a reservation?

I also have two picky eaters (my husband being the pickiest ), would they allow him to order a burger for dinner? Will they allow my 15 year old picky daughter to order the mickey pasta from the childs menu? Thanks

If you are doing the DDP, I'd bet no. And if it isn't on the menu, again, I'd bet no.

I've ordered a burger for dinner before, but we've never used the DDP.

I bet they would allow both choices but it wouldn't be a smart move for the DDP. If you do this for the DDP you might want to pay OOP and save those credits for signature or dinner show options. I know they will generally allow adults to order kids meals. Also, some of the nicer locations will allow children to order regular meals for a reduced price. Artist point has allowed kids to order essentially anything from the menu for half price plus $1, don't know if they still do or not.

With those kinds of eaters, I would probably opt to pay cash for bkfast there and eat dinner at a more casual type burger joint/meat and potatoes place for dinner. It all really depends if you're doing the dining plan-are you?

Thanks everyone for your replies. We are not doing the dining plan. We have considered it, it is just way too much food for the way we eat while at WDW! The restaurants we have eaten at have always been accommadating. My husband did not want any of the dinner choices at CRT and they allowed him to order a burger off the kids menu

I have a hard time even making ressies because we do not like to have to eat at a given time, we eat when hungry or get the munchies That is why I was asking about making ressies at Olivia's. Do you think I would be o.k. without any for breakfast, lunch or dinner? Thanks again!

In the past, we just called Dining on the day we wanted to go to Olivia's. This was before the DDP, so I don't know if it would still work, but I would bet Olivia's doesn't get booked solid.

Breakfast and lunch shouldn't be a problem at Olivia's. Rarely there have been times they are booked up for dinner. You could always call the restaurant directly from your room to see if they have space available. Most times they'll say "come on down."

We enjoy Olivia's, and especially like lunch there. When it's nice, it great to be seated outdoors. I did notice the menu was a bit "weak" this last trip, but the food is always well prepared.

Hi. What do you mean by "weak"? Has the menu changed from what Deb's site shows? I do wish they offered more on the dinner menu, such as a burger, maybe spaghetti and meatballs! Thanks

We loved Olivia's our 1st time there in January! My dad had some awesome onion rings, and DS ate his entire hamburger. DM and I wanted to try the soup of the day, and our server brought us samples (she didn't care for it herself and didn't want us to be unhappy!) It was a great meal and nice atmosphere. I'd do a meal when you can relax - service is not speedy, which can be frustrating if you're on your way somewhere (we weren't so we didn't care)!

Enjoy - we will def. eat here again!

Olivia's is great! On our last trip there, their were 8 of us and everyone enjoyed their lunch. Real laid back place, seated right away, without an ADR...

I'm going to be opposite and say that it's "ok" now but it used to be better. Whats odd about that is that if you search these forums to just a few years ago, you'll read more people complaining about Olivia's and that's when I liked it most.

For several years, DW and I had a tradition of getting to WDW at noon and going straight there to order a cuban, conch fritters, and a turtle crawl to drink, no matter what resort we were staying at, we went there first for lunch to "start" our trip. For breakfast I ordered french toast with a mango rum spread. One by one all of those things have gone by the wayside including the drink which no one seemed to have even heard f for the last year or so, much less knew how to make it, with one exception. We went down for a spur of the moment trip 2 weeks ago and walked into the GS and low and behold it was actually written on the drink board as a special.

The complaints used to be about the food, service, noise because there is nothing to absorb sound, and when they took the pictures down everyone FLIPPED out . Maybe this was when I started going there and they were trying to better their reputation.
