We are looking at doing dinner at either Olivia's (at Old Key West) or Wispering Canyon (at Wilderness Lodge)? Any recommendations for one over the other? We haven't done either.

Olivia's has fantastic onion rings and key lime pie. Other than that I haven't been impressed with their food. Whispering Canyon Cafe has good options for the family style shared food and a la carte. I LOVE their cornbread... the best in the world! I personally would choose the WCC

If you have kids, do WCC for the fun. The food is average, but the fun is over the top.

I have enjoyed some awesome prime rib at Olivia's and am looking forward to having it again in April :dance3:

I don't know how we didn't go to WC ever before our last trip. We've gone practically every year for the last 12 years. My kids LOVED it and was the first restaurant they said they want to go back to. I can honestly say I don't remember what the food was like but the fun was OUT of THIS WORLD!!

We went to Whispering Canyon our last trip and loved it. It has been longer since we have been to Olivia's, but I think the food options and atmosphere were better at Whispering Canyon. Olivia's isn't bad if you are staying at the resort, but if you are going out of your way, I would say WC.

I've been to both, and both are good. It depends on the kind of experience you are looking for.

Honestly, I wouldn't go out of my way for either. I would picked based on what your plans are for that day, and the ease of getting back and forth to either restaurant.

We were just looking for a resort table service that was one that we haven't already planned on doing and since that will be our "rest at the resort day" it will be a pretty easy day. (We have already planned on Boma, Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Faire and O'hanas) We will have our two boys with us aged 4 and 7, so if the atmosphere is more "exciting" at Whispering Canyon we might plan on going there.

Your boys will enjoy WC more than Olivias. I personally like both restaurants for different reasons. Olivia's is more laid back and calm, WC is a much louder restaurant that encourages the kids to have fun.

Another vote for WCC, especially if you have children that are outgoing. WCC has a lot of "antics" that children can participate in. I remember seeing a line of children riding wooden stick horse going around the restaurant, the calls for ketchup, and loud (slightly off key) birthday singing. If you children are shyer or do not like loud(ish) places, then WCC might not be the best choice.

In terms of food, I like WCC better than Olivia's. The skillet has a lot of really yummy options. I've eaten once at Olivia's and the food was good, but nothing special. Mostly, it reminded me of things I can cook myself at home, so when I'm going out I would prefer things that I either cannot cook or do not cook.

Olivia's is better for breakfast. I would choose WCC because its definitely more popular, and WL is more fun to walk around at than OKW IMO.
