Olivander's and what to do with the wand

From many of the various threads, it appears that there is some consensus to visit Olivander's before riding FJ if you are on-site and get there for the early hour.

I also read that the wands don't fit in the lockers and they don't do package delivery from within WWOHP. So, has anyone figured out a way to deal with this? I'm guessing it may not be a good idea to leave WWOHP to have your packages delivered to the front of the park or the hotels from a shop outside WWOHOP because you might not be able to get back into WWOHP.

We plan on visiting WWOHP the night before we do the early hour, but I'm not confident we'll score wands due to the lines. We're mostly there then to just look around.

We'll be at IOA next week, any help with this is greatly appreciated!

Maybe they've changed their policy since we were there, but we had our son's wand delivered to our room at the Hard Rock Hotel. We were there the week of June 6th...

I'm a bit surprised the wands don't fit in the lockers, they are pretty deep. I also know my friend rode FJ after buying a wand one morning and didn't mention an issue with it not fitting in the locker. Try to lean it diagonally to give it an extra inch. Maybe some wand boxes are longer than others, but her Olivander wand box seemed to be on the longer side and it fit.

Visit Olivander's but don't buy your wand, won't work if your child is picked. Buy your wand from the cart, or go in the store, after you ride FJ. You can ask the guard when you leave Hogmead. They may let you back in if you tell them you're just going to the Poseidon gift shop to ship your package back to your resort.

We went to WWoHP last week in the am and wanted to come back for wands in the pm. The guard I asked was a dork and said if there is a line to get back in, we would have to wait. That is the most absurd thing I have heard all month -- make that all year. Knew there was a reason I have stayed away from Universal for 10 years.

We did go back another night and got wands from the cart.

They really didn't know at that point how long into the day the lines would last, so not really that absurd. I mean how would they know you were in earlier that day to let you in over the line of people waiting. Sounds fair to me.

The wand should fit in the free locker they provide at the begining of the FJ line with no problem. We fit a full back pack and purse into one locker and then shoved a refillable US cup in before locking it up. I think maybe the actual locker on the seat of the ride is the one they said it wouldn't fit in. That is more for sunglasses, hats, etc.

Due to current crowd levels the shops in Hogmead aren't (currently) shipping merchandise to the front of the park or to your resort. You can bring you purchases to Poseidon's gift shop and they will ship it for you.

Maybe there is an exception for wands, which won't fit in the lockers.

Last week, we bought a lot of stuff at Filch's including a framed copy of the Marauder's Map and they delivered it to our room at RPR.

When I was there last Monday they wouldn't ship to the resorts, they said as the area was new it wasn't set up properly yet. I thought this a bit strange, as if they'd over look a detail like that. But hearing that it was about crowd control in a round and about way makes more sense. We did go over to the poseidon gift shop and asked and they said they'd take HP merch from there. But we decided by that point to just hang on to the bags they weren't too much trouble and we were going back to the hotel in about an hour or so later instead of waiting until 9am the next morning.

That's the reason you stayed away from Universal for 10 years? Seriously? Just because a guard told you there may be a wait to get in? I'm sure the guard was just doing his job by telling you that and calling someone a "dork" is not very nice.

We bought 4 wands and put them in the FJ locker. I remember the girls wanted Hermoine's (sorry if that isn't spelled right) wand and they didn't have any more at the shops. But, coming out of the FJ ride, we saw the cart outside there and I did a quick look but then asked myself what the heck would I do even if they did have it--buy another one. I think it may have helped us that we had a butterbeer mug which may have angled the wands from upper corner across to the lower corner. But, they did fit with 3 fanny packs as well.

My post suggested a guard might let you back in if you just wanted to leave for the few minutes it takes to check your purchase at Poseidon's Gift Shop.

That's completely different then asking to be allowed to "cut the line" hours later.

Sorry, I agree with the other posters. The guard didn't do anything wrong. I don't understand why you call him a "dork" and why you think it's absurd to suggest you might have to wait in line if you want to return hours later.

No - we have stayed away because they do not know how to handle crowds. Plain and simple. From the parking garage to the food lines. We have never waited in line so long to pay for parking. Not even peak at Disney.

He was a dork because he was unsure of how to answer the question. Sorry to have left out that detail. He really wasn't sure how to answer it. Why pay someone to stand on the bridge and monitor ? He was about to give a different response and then we walked away. As if not one else had asked that question before.

We went to Olivander's our last night at the park and bought wands before riding Forbidden Journey one last time. Two wands fit in our locker just fine.

Can someone confirm where and how we can get packages sent to the front of the park for pickup when we leave? I'm hearing conflicting reports of this and would love to know for sure. I'm not talking about hotel delivery, but package delivery just to the front of the park.

The rumors may have been true. Some have the packing gene and some people have the shove gene. You never know.
