Old Typhoon Lagoon passes

HI, I am new to the Forum and I thought that someone out there may be able to help me out.
About 12 years ago i worked for The Disney Store in MA. At that time, my husband and i took a trip to WDW and purchased 2 Typhoon Lagoon Tickets at the CM discounted price. We never did use them. We have been back to WDW several times since, but this will be the first time that our daughters are really old enough to enjoy TL. I no longer work for The Disney Store, but my question is whether i will still be able to use the passes? They do say that they are CM tickets and at the time we bought them the Cm told us that I would have to show my store I.D. Does anyone know if i can trade them in or would i be able to upgrade them at guest services? I would hate to think that they would be a waste. I appreciate any thoughts about this.

12 years ago would put them in the pre-magnetic strip era. That means that you will have to exchange them at Guest Relations or the TL ticket booth for the current magnetic strip ones.

As far as the CM asking for your cast ID, it should not be a problem. In the event they do ask, simply tell them the truth. You aren't scamming anyone. You were entitled to that ticket when you bought it. My one caveat that I add to all these unique situations: not all Guest Relation CM's will be accommodating. Ask at the window what you can do with the ticket. If you don't like the answer, go to another Guest Relations location and ask there. Quite often, the answer at #2 will not be the same as at #1.

I agree with asking more than one person if the first answer is No, but I'd be ready for the second and third answer to be No as well.

Because it's a CM perk (and from so long ago) I'd be inclined to think they are no longer valid, especially since you haven't been a CM for many years. Have you checked the back of the ticket? Often there will be an expiration date, which could answer the question right away.

I want to say I am absolutely positively sure those tickets can be used by somebody, if they have not yet expired and the person who first received them has not died*. Tickets that were valid when paid for cannot become worthless just because circumstances such as employment change. So either you may use them or you may sell them to someone else who "qualifies".

Do bring proof of original qualification, such as a pay stub from that era, in case Guest Relations asks.

* Sometime in the late 1980's I recall reading a brochure describing multi-day tickets, "good for any [x number of] days out of the rest of your life". However Disney has been known to transfer unused admissions to next of kin.

I appreciate all your thoughts and suggestions. I checked the back of the passes and there is not an expiration date. At the time i did intend to use them, but we ended up coming home early due to a family emergency. I did pay for them (i think $11.00) at the time. If they are no longer valid, i would hope that they would at least let me use them towards the purchase of a new ticket. I don't even think i have a pay stub from when i worked there or even my company I.D. That was 12 years ago and i have since moved. I do remember the store I.D. number so maybe they can look it up. As long as the ticket is good for something i will be happy. Well, again i appreciate the responses that i received.

Bingo! Your absolute worst case scenario is that they will allow you to apply what you originally paid for the ticket towards the purchase of a new one. That original ticket will never be worthless until it's used or exchanged towards a new one.
