We haven't been to Disney in a few yeas and have three days left on our no expiration tickets. I am thinking that we need to bring our paper tickets (I feel old) to guest services and switch for the bracelet. But I think you can't make FP reservations unless you have the bracelet? Is that true?

We'll visiting on what we are hoping to be slow 5 day period in May. Will be need the FP. We haven't been since all of the reserve add FP -- does it make a large difference?

Any advice would be helpful! Thank you.

The easiest thing to do is to add your old Non-Expire tickets in MDE and it will confirm the number of days remaining and let you make your FP+ reservations for the number of days remaining on your tickets.

Link your tickets to MDE if you can so you can make FP+. Magic bands and booking FP+ have nothing to do with each other. If you are staying on site you will get bands, if not you can buy them if you want. The only glitch is if your tickets are paper, as you say, you will have to exchange them to a credit card form of ticket once you arrive or you wont be able to use your FP+s since you have to tap to activate at the machines (its free to do).

You need to have a MDE account set up and link your tickets to it to be able to make FPs at 30 days out for offsite stays and 60 for onsite. If you are offsite you will have to change your paper tickets to the plastic RFID card at GR at the parks. You will only get MBs if you are staying onsite, otherwise you would have to purchase them for $12.95 if you wanted them. They are not required.
I would link my tickets and make FPs as soon as I could to get the things that I wanted, If I were you.
