OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

You can certainly do an on-line check-in but I would recommend the other families not do one since they really want connecting and one full balcony. They will definitely want to talk to the CM at check-in. Tell them if what they want is not available on the day they check-in, they can always ask for a room change the next day if what they want is available then.

Also, please keep in mind that since you are CL and the other two rooms are not, your friends won't be able to use the fifth floor. I don't know if you all have children coming with you or not. Sometimes it's hard to have one set of kids up on 5 running around with all the sodas and snacks and other goodies and the others not on CL not having that access. We've had problems in the past with this and it's really hard to try to explain to children why some can get the goodies and others can't. The poor kids don't understand why CMs are telling them they can't use the lounge when their friends can. We hate tears:sad:. So if your room is ready and the others are not, technically your friends are not suppose to go up to the fifth floor to use your CL facilities.

There are lockers and showers in the health club that you all can use and of course you can keep things with bell services and you can have easy access throughout the day to anything bell services is holding for you.

If we are full or close to full, it's a long shot that any rooms will be available much before 3 PM but you never know. One of you might get lucky and have a room assigned to you where the person that day had a 5 AM flight and they checked out real real early.
Thanks Teena. I've been prepping my boys to not mention the lounge in front of the other kids. I told the other adults that they would not be allowed up there at all... The other 2 families just placed a Garden Grocer order too so they are preparing. They have dining and we don't so I think it will all work out.
I will definitely tell them to not do on line check in.
Can't wait to get there. You have been so helpful.

I say we drag the body over to the slide at BWI and make it look like "Pennywise" did the dirty deed!

Perhaps RoyDavid can be on the look out for us. He's our double agent currently stationed at BWI and is gathering intelligence for us on some way funky lookin chairs rumored to be parked at that resort.

Those chairs are still creepy, laughing at me every time I go back to my room!

:welcome: new friends!!!

Hi all I had a question.. I have a standard view CL room booked for Sept, what kind of view is possible with this?

TIA

:cool1:

Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1? What are your dates?

my daughter uses earplanes. they sell them at the drugstore
they are like earplugs that help with the pressure

10 days til beach club and 3 sets of earplanes

:yay: for your upcoming stay.

Let us know when you will be there if you want to be added to the list.

We will be at YC Dec 10 through 20. Does anyone know what time the usually have the campfire in December? Does anyone have a copy of the December activities from last year to get an idea of what may be going on at the resort? Thanks

:cheer2:

I'll put you on the Be Our Guest list!

We are booked into a standard room at the beach club in two weeks. What's my chances of a room with a full balcony and a day bed with a standard view? I'm most bothered about the day bed as the children don't like sharing. Thanks.

:goodvibes

Let me know your dates and I will add you to the Be Our Guest list.

I'm not really sure how many rooms have daybeds. I think about half of the rooms at the BC have full balconies.

I think the best way to word a request for you would be "Full balcony and daybed, please" or "Full balcony, please, daybed if possible".

If you don't get a daybed in your room, you can request a rollaway cot free of charge.

Per the advice posted earlier, and in the FAQ section on Page 1, do not do the online checkin and discuss attributes of your room when you checkin. The CM can see if there is a room better suited to your needs if your requests were not met.

Just want to say thank you for this thread! After deciding to be more than weekend warriors and start to actually enjoy athe Disney experience we have decided to try out the BC & YC, mostly for SAB. Although I think my kids are pretty excited for Beaches and Cream as well :p

I am hoping that our Oct experience is as good as I think it will be and DH is willing to keep our Feb resies. But we will make a detour in Jan for a Royal Room at POR for DD princess:

:wave2:

What are the dates of your inaugural stay at Y&B?

We are staying the first two weeks of Sept at CR for DH convention. However, I am seriously considering changing our 2nd week to BC. My DD and her family are also going to be at WDW the 2nd week (they are staying at ASMovies since DGS loves Toy Story). DH and I are planning on keeping DGS (age 2) one day while my DD and her hubby tour alone. Would I have a problem taking him to swim at SAB with us? He is under 3 years of age so he won't have a room key or ticket anyway:confused3 Should I add him on to our room?

:thumbsup2

Let us know if you make the switch!

This is our 1st trip to the Yacht club as we ususally stay at the GF but due to all of the consrtuction there we decided to go over to the yacht club, I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any construction scheduled there in september thanks for all of the great info this thread provides :thumbsup2

Let us know your dates if you want to be added to the Be Our Guest list.

I am not aware of any scheduled construction in September.

I'm makin' a list and checking it twice

Actually, I don't have time to check it twice, so please take a moment to look at the Be Our Guest list to make sure your vacation info is listed correctly.

Thanks!

Hi there, Just wanted to stop in to let you know our plans have changed for February 2013, so I (pld5) should be removed from the Be Our Guest page.

DH and DS asked me to change our resort to WL because we all loved it there in January 2012. Since the trip is for DS's birthday, I couldn't say no. We will definitely be taking a day trip during our time there to explore YC and hopefully stay there on a future visit. Thanks for being so welcoming on your thread here!

7 days!! Only 7 more days until we arrive at our home away from home!!:beach:

All I have left to do is laundry, pack, get prescriptions refilled and we are ready to roll! School shopping is done, oil change and tire rotation completed for a safe drive. Oh, and I will also clean the house top to bottem just before we leave so it is perfect when we get back home. That way I only have laundry to face when we get back.;)

Wishing everyone safe travels that are on their way and magical times for those who are already there!:cool1:

Hopefully one day your travel plans will bring you back here!

We're at the airport now about to leave on our 3 part vacation. One week until we check in at BCV. Thanks again for all the tips and help. If anyone staying the same time as us hears some strange screaming , not to worry it's just my 15 month old and yes he does it all the time.

Wishing everyone leaving soon a magical vacation!!

Well, your post prompted me to call into DVC to see about our wait list and we got our wish and will check into BCV on 9/2. SOOOOO, in your spare time :rotfl2:you can delete BLT and have us coming into BCV on 9/2. I want you to know that originally I was not so excited about staying at BCV. I own at Boardwalk and like it there. I only booked at BCV because Boardwalk standard rooms were booked. So I thought I would take the opportunity to try BVC. I am so glad I did after being a member of the board for a few months. You are all most kind and friendly and I am looking forward to my trip. Thank you all, Penny:goodvibes

Well, we got back home yesterday. :sad1: I just wanted to report that the BC was great again. The CMs throughout Disney were wonderful. However, I wanted to especially thank Teena, Lauren and Pete at the BC for making our stay wonderful.

Meeting YCFAN and Lauren at the meet and greet was very nice as well. It was nice to see friendly faces around the resort and have somebody to sit and talk with. I wish we could have stuck around a little longer and met some of the others but my OCD for scheduling dinner got the best of me.

A couple of thoughts, the heat wasn't all that bad. We seemed to survive just fine. The crowds in the parks actually seemed larger to me than the last time we went in July 2010. The tour groups seemed to multiply by a huge margin. But we zigged when they zagged and it didn't really affect us much. They only affected us a couple of times when there were several tour groups at the same time tying up a lot of the FP machines with their large number of cards.

One major thing we noticed was the availability of tables at many of the sit-down restaurants. We noticed a lot of availability at Biergarten (6:30), Kouzzina (5:30), Tusker House (11:30am), Whispering Canyon (2:00pm), Hoop Dee Doo Revue (5:00) and ESPN Club (Mon 5-7). These all had plenty of seats available while we were there. So much so that I probably didn't need ADRs at any of them. ESPN doesn't take ADRs but we just walked up and got a table right away.

Now, Chef Mickey's was packed (8:30am) they were actually running about 25 minutes late. Sci-Fi Dine In at HS was also pretty busy, there were tables open when we got there but not many and there were people waiting when we left. Ohana's was not completely packed at 5:00pm, but it seemed like they were pretty busy and they were sitting people in waves.

The PhotoPass+ card worked out well for us. We got three dinner photos (HDDR, Tusker House and Chef Mickey's) which cost I think around $29.95 each or $90. Then we got a total of 26 ride photos. We also found that it was not difficult to add ride photos that my kids were on and didn't have the PP+ card. We returned within 48 hours to that ride and gave them the number and they pulled them up very quickly. So it looks like the card actually was a good value for us. We would have normally purchased one ride photo from each ride so that would have been another $60 at $14.95 for each digital download. When I logged into the Photopass site after entering my PP+ card I received a message on the main page that I had digital files available for download. These were all of my ride photos.

I may put together a complete Trip Report. But not sure when that will happen.

Thanks for the info on Photopass +. We pre-ordered the photopass for our upcoming trip before the price increase and addition of the + and I've been debating if we want to upgrade to the +.

Great report! We are also looking at the Photopass + for our next trip since we are going with my niece and nephew and it will be their first trip.

I was at the DIS meet, too. I just missed you!

I agree about the heat.....it wasn't too terribly bad. My hair and the humidity do not mix well so I apologize to anyone who saw my crazy-looking hair! It was much hotter in June 2010.

We didn't encounter as many tour groups as we have in the past. We saw them sitting in stores and on grassy areas, but really didn't have too much of a problem with them in line. I was ready to shoot some dude (non-tour group) in line behind us for RnR. He was saying to his companion how he had broken all of the roller coaster records in Orlando (whatever that means!) and how underneath the ENTIRE WDW property, there are tunnels and stores and restaurants for the employees. He kept going on and on and on about it. Aftewards, my kids asked me why I didn't correct him (even they knew he was full of baloney). I told them sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut. ;)

I'm not too surprised about the restaurants not being crowded. Normally, we do lots of TS meals but didn't this trip. I wanted to stay on vacation longer and at a deluxe resort more than I wanted to have ADR's. We used the QSDP instead. We shared lots of meals because the portions are so big. We are all sick of hamburgers and chicken strips but we did manage to have some Mexican food, ribs and pasta. I highly recommend the QSDP! Missing out on the character interaction was something I did miss, though. :(

Glad you had a great trip!

I'm so glad your whole stay will be at BCV and you won't have to change resorts!

Thanks for the kind words- hope your stay is wonderful!!!

DisneyDadin PA and Catho72- Thank you both for your reports from your trips last week!

DDiPA- the info about PP+ was very helpful

Just curious if any of you that have been recently noticed or took advantage of any Bounceback offers, if there were any in the rooms?

Does anyone know what the in-resort shop gift offer is this year? I know in previous years at FQ its been a resort bag, then its been watches and more recently suitcases.

There was a bounceback offer in our room. I believe it was 35% off, but I'm not sure if it was only deluxe at 35% or all resorts. I didn't look too carefully at it. Sorry!

Just had to post and say, I am getting really excited for our first stay at the Yacht Club. :) We are staying CL lagoon view. When we first booked that is what it said on our reservation but recently online it changed to waterview. We did call and confirm that our reservation is lagoon view. The past 2 years we stayed at the Dolphin. Both years we were lucky to get a room with two balconies one look towards HS and the other towards Epcot. We loved sitting out on our balcony both in the morning and evening. Enjoyed watching the boats and illuminations at night. Dolphin doesn't have club level so looking forward to trying this out at the Yacht Club. Love reading everyones posts here!!

We're back home and finally finished with laundry:laundy:, etc. and ready to get back to the normal routine tomorrow.:sad1:

We had a wonderful vacation at BC and got to see some great friends as well as make a few new ones!:grouphug: Seeing Teena and Lauren was great as usual. They are really part of BCs hidden gems!:cheer2: I got to see DisneyMomX7 again for the third year in a row :thumbsup2 and even ran into her at Sci-Fi also. She has such a nice family. :goodvibes I also got to meet catho72 at the Dis meet :wave2: and DisneyDadinPA and his lovely wife. It was really nice talking to them in the lounge several times at the end of our days in the park. It felt like coming home each day.

The CMs in the lounge were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! I have to give a big shout out to Pete, Neil, Ricky, Kerry and Jean (who is normally over at the YC). They were great!

We had a great time at SAB, eating ice cream at Beaches & Cream, and watching a movie on the beach. We couldn't have been happier with our resort stay. We had a great time in the parks too. We even rode Splash Mountain in the rain and thought it was the best ride we had ever had on it!!!!!!:jumping3:

OK, people are always wanting comparisons between YC/BC. So here goes......remember, this is a PERSONAL opinion and everyone has different opinions. The rooms on the 5th floor are bigger and roomier at YC because of the architectural details (dormers) at the BC. The room at BC was gorgeous and was certainly big enough for the two of us but if four of us had gone this time I think the room would have felt too cramped. We had a great view of SAB and Crescent Lake but again the balcony was smaller than those at the YC. I'll try to post a picture this week of our view when I get a chance to upload my pics. It really was beautiful. I liked the lobby of the BC better this time because it is light and airy feeling but it is usually a little too busy for me but with Cape May closed on this trip it made the lobby lively but not overly crowded with people. Of course, BC had Teena and that trumps the greeter at YC. :snooty: I also (in general) enjoy the veiws at YC more because they are more directly facing Crescent Lake with fewer trees. I found the CMs on CL to be more outgoing at BC than at YC. I have made some great friends over the years at YC CL so I am not knocking the ones over there just noting that the CMs at BC seem friendlier as a whole. I will make the disclaimer here that they sometimes switch back and forth like on the first day I was there, as soon as I got off the elevator to check in I saw Jean and he recognized me immediately. He's usually at YC and went back to the dark side after that first day. I'm a balcony person so the full balconies take it for me at YC. I like being closer to the boats at YC but I will admit that even though it's not a lot further from the YC, the BC proximity to Epcot makes for a nice short walk after a long day at the World Showcase.

So there are some of my comparisons. I still think overall I would book YC but if it was not available (as in this case), I would not think twice about booking BC. Other than decor and a few of the items I listed above there really is no difference in being at one or the other. You have all the same amenities and what I believe to be the BEST location on Disney property.

Thanks for listening and I can't wait until I can swing another trip to my happy place.

If anyone has any specific questions, I'll be glad to try and help.
