OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Good morning everyone! We are resting our weary feet at SAB this morning. The pixie dust keeps on coming! First, while waiting for the pool to open, a couple gave us their pool noodles! Then, we were selected to be Family of the Day at SAB! The kids were thrilled. My son remarked, "I don't think we're going to MGM today!". We are in heaven! :)

I will definitely be trying a Sunken Treasure this afternoon ! Woo hoo!

Congrats on being chosen! SAB is amazing. Have fun

Left Syracuse, NY at 3:45 pm yesterday. Made it to south of Jacksonville in a shade over 18 hours! Hanging out in The Avenues mall waiting for our room to be ready so we can crash and wake up early tomorrow to do an early check-in at the Beach Club!!!

Of course, since the fam slept most of the way down, they're up for fun. I'm conscious thanks only to Red Bull, Starbucks and impending Disney Magic!
Soon enough you will be enjoying the good life at BC. Rest up for the fun!

For all of you Y&B guests that know Vic, one of our dispatchers, luggage room CMs and someone who filled in for us as lobby greeters on occasion, I just wanted to let you know that Vic passed away Thursday evening. He actually worked at the Y&B on Thursday. He will be missed so much!!!
Sorry for the loss of your co worker. It must be hard for the whole YC/BC family.

Please let his family know that his guests will miss him and we are sending our love their way. So sorry for the loss to the Yacht & Beach staff as well.

Wow - you don't log on for a few days and you end up 20 pages behind :) I love this thread!
This may well be the least pre-preparation I've done for a trip yet! We leave in just 28 short days but we have been very preoccupied with the potential purchase of our dream home!! It is a lakefront short sale home that we put offer in on in November - yes - last year!! Nothing short about short sales. We JUST heard today that bank is approving with 1 minor glitch we still have to work out but assuming the formal approval comes next week and they want the standard 30 days to close that means closing would be the week we're in Disney so I'm now nervous about needing to extend that. Then there's the little matter of finishing some minor things at our current house in order to put it on the market. But who has time for all of that - i have some serious spreadsheets to finish organizing, color coding, and printing!! :thumbsup2 No time to waste!!

We started on our "short sale" last Sept. About 10 days ago everything got approved and then a week ago, it all went south.:sad2: Things looked better earlier this week, cautiously optomistic, today we are waiting for the sellers to sign. We should know by tonight. After celebrating once, crying twice, today I am sitting back making autograph cards and reading the DIS. We are supposed to settle one week before we go to Disney. It needs painting and carpeting so that can be done while we are away and hopefully we can move when we return home. :thumbsup2 As you said, there is nothing short about a short sale.:lmao: Best of Luck, Penny

Can someone here clarify for me...I would like to ship a box of food to The Beach Cub...do I want to ship UPS, FedEx or USPS....I have heard the BC charges fees for certain methods of shipment! Just want to go with the cheapest way possible :)
Thanks!!
We check in August 19th for the week, yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teena--I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your co-worker. In my experience, co-workers are like a second family. :grouphug:

Teena, I'm so sorry to hear about Vic. His family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I think the last time we saw him in the lobby must have been in March of 2010, if I remember correctly. Not sure on that timing, but I remember once when we were on our way out to the bus stop, Vic asked where we were headed and about our plans for the day. Our youngest son was so involved in telling Vic all about it, and Vic was so engaged with him, that we had to pull our little guy away to let Vic greet other guests! (You, Gary and Richard would also know how it goes with our very talkative little one!) That was one of the many times our boys commented about how much they love greeters in the BC lobby. Please pass along our happy memory of him.

I'm sorry to hear about Vic. What a shock. Best wishes for his family and co-workers as they deal with this loss.

Thanks for those memories. He and his wife (who also works at Disney) just put in for transfers to the cruise line. Vic was telling me on Monday how he thought they would purchase a second home near the port ... a beach home. That way when they worked a few days a week at the Port (when the ships were there - they hoped to do check-ins for the cruises), they could just stay in their beach house.

I'm so sorry to hear that Teena. If I remember correctly wasn't he from Massachusetts? I had a nice conversation with him our last 2 trips. A very nice man.

My condolences.

Jay

Yep, up there somewhere. He was a huge New England football fan!!!

Experts, are there any good requests at BCV? This is our first time staying there and not sure if any areas are better than others? (I know none of the rooms have amazing views, right?)

I think the most popular request would be a view of the Epcot fireworks. But this only works for some rooms on the higher floors.

Some people do not want a room overlooking the road because they worry about noise. Personally, that didn't bother me.

I'm not a view person. I keep the drapes closed. I like the living room/kitchen/washer-dryer that you get in the 1BR and 2BR. That's why I joined DVC. The Beach Club in particular feels like home to me, and of course the location is great. But you don't stay at BCV for the views.

I should be working that Sunday and Monday. I leave on Tuesday (8/21) to go help Jeanne get the classroom ready. Looking forward to seeing you!

Hey, Teena, does Jeanne's school collect Boxtops for Education?

As The Best Aunt In The World, I have to save mine for my nieces for a few more years. But I bet there are some Beach and Yacht FAQ people who throw theirs away.

(Don't know what they are? Look on the bottom of a box of Kleenex, or on a box of Ziploc bags, among other places. This should give a list of products: http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/clip/Default.aspx )
