OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Hi everyone! Long time, no post..... I can't get over how quickly Dee has to start up a new thread from all the posts that occur for the YC/BC!

I feel lost since I'm usually planning a trip to the Beach Club for this month, so I'm getting my fix through all of you...keep those pictures and trip reports coming! I can live vicariously through all of you...

For those of you who didn't know, my mother lost her 3.5 year battle with Stage IV breast cancer on June 12 :sad1: She was 61 years young.... My girls and I are trying to keep Dad company as much as possible and my 9 year old hopes that in the coming years, we can bring him with us to the Beach Club (he's only ever stayed at Ft. Wilderness in the cabins when we were kids...)

I just wanted to check in and say that I do enjoy reading all your posts and feel as though I've missed tons! I have a lot of reading to do...

So sorry for your loss. I will keep your family in my prayers.

I'm sure your girls are a big help to your dad. We lost my dad (67 years old - cancer) many years ago and my mom always said that what helped her most was spending a lot of time with her grandchildren.

In hindsight, we should have just stayed at the Hyatt Regency INSIDE the MCO airport and then caught the earliest Magical Express bus straight to the BC! It looks like rooms at the Hyatt are around $140/night.

Just a little advice from someone who walked in your shoes last year!

This is exactly what we are doing on our upcoming trip. We arrive at MCO at midnight. Basically take one elevator and hit the pillows. In the morning one elevator ride to ME counter. On the return flight we are doing the same for our 6am flight. We'll stay until the last ME bus leaves.

I have stayed at this hotel and it is pretty nice. Nicer I am guessing that the Values. (not that we will be there long enough to care)

If anybody has any questions about it, please PM me since this isn't Y&B business. Jeanne said as we were leaving, "I don't care if I have to save for this for ten years, I'm bringing Princess Lily here when she's old enough!!!!!" That pretty much says it all. I'd go again in a second!!!!!!

WELCOME HOME!! So thrilled you has such a great time. Absolutely can't wait to see the pics.

Live update from BC:

Yesterday was another great day. Once again I lost to DH at TSM. Rode RNR and then went back to chill at SAB. It was hot hot hot so we were in and out of the lazy river all day long. Left SAB and went to our room to shower. We could not decide on dinner and so ii looked to see what was available for 7:30 and low and behold a last minute CA Grill was there:goodvibes
We took the monorail to the Contemporary Resort and had a fabulous dinner and watched Wishes. We left a few minutes early and it is good that we did . The monorail from TTC to Epcot was down so they were directing people to buses to Epcot which were busy cause there were EMH there. We arrived before the big rush because we got out early . But as our bus left the line behind was longgggggggg.

This morning we had a fabulous breakfast at Captains Grill . So very good . I highly recommend.

We only have had one slight snafu which has seemingly worked out anyway. A couple days ago DH decided we should add a day . I checked online and there were rooms so I went to the front desk who told me to call the reservation center so I could keep the AP discount on the new day. When I called they told me that I needed to add on at the front desk:confused3 so back to herring desk I went and thy told me the hotel was sold out . I asked if that was for the AP rate or any rate ? They told me every rate , the rooms were oversold and I should try YC. I pulled up the booking page and showed them all room types with and without AP rate show availability. They told me no can do. At this point I was super frustrated so Dh booked through the pass older page with a discount. Now I was like ??? So much for oversold. This morning DH went back to the front dsk and asked if we could keep our room instead of checking out and then back in. They said it was already done in the computer.... Which is awesome but still can. It figure out he 2 hour run around I got with calling and the front desk and being told no room in the inn. All is well that ends well though.
Off to the lazy river:banana:

Hi Everyone!
Do you know if there are any tables with umbrellas and chairs around the pool that you can bring food from Hurricane Hannah's. If there are, where are they located?

Thanks!

I'm sorry for your loss and firsthand know what you are going through. We lost my father on June 3rd to ALS....he was just shy of 67 years young.
Give your father some time, and then bring him along on a family trip. Trust me, the Mouse is good medicine :goodvibes

According to Build a Better Mousetrip, the Movies on the Beach for July are:

Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Movie Schedule
By the Beach ~ 9:00PM

Sundays - Tangled
Mondays - Cars
Tuesdays - Toy Story 3
Wednesdays - Wall-E
Thursdays - Ratatouille
Fridays - The Princess & the Frog
Saturdays - Lilo & Stitch

There is no mention of a special movie for July 4. Last year they showed National Treasure.

I tried emailing the Yacht & Beach IPO this morning, explained who I am and sent links of this forum and requested a copy of the Activities schedule for July. They wrote back and said they were not able to accomodate my request :sad1: but I could try WDW Guest Communications.

I just did that, so we will see how that goes.

But for any of you who will be staying club level in July, if you receive a copy of the Activities Schedule by email, could you please forward it to me at beachclubdee@yahoo.com

Many thanks!

I can do you one better, or maybe I should say, more embarrassing. I kept looking for the slot to put the key in and opened the sensor looking for it. I could have broken the darn thing. Finally figured it out.

:rotfl: This happened to my DS. He went up to the room while I was still at the front desk. He called my cell and said he didn't see a place to put the key in. I asked the CM about it & then laughed as I told my DS what to do. All of the sudden, my DS starts laughing & says he's all set. :lmao:

When we went to our room at BLT, we were surprised they had the old ones. FYI: BLT is changing over soon.

There are several places with tables and umbrellas to eat food:thumbsup2

Back from our wonderful WDW vacation. We were so happy to get two nights at BCV and enjoyed our time there. We loved our view of the Epcot ball! BC & BCV are top on our list of favorite resorts! We enjoy the lobby, rooms, SAB, friendly CMs, the wonderful smell, easy walk to Epcot, boat to Studios....

On arrival night (Fri.) we ate at ESPN Zone and had a nice time eating and participating in a "game show". SAB after dinner.

I got up early in the morning (Sat.) and walked around the boardwalk. Very enjoyable. Had planned a day at TL but the weather changed our minds and we went to Epcot for most of the day. Good choice. We went to SAB in the on & off rain and had so much fun! Ate at Cape May and enjoyed a nice dinner. We LOVE seafood and this hits the spot. Sorry to hear Teena and Bob didn't enjoy their meal there. I would be so dissapointed if the items we like were changed.

Woke up to rain on Sun., so decided against our planned Sea World day (my DH enjoys SW), we checked out of BCV and checked into BLT and then went to MK. We went to GF Cafe for dinner and had a lovely time.

Mon. we went to the Studios and had fun, rain and all. Had lunch at Le Cellier. We did enjoy it, but not as much as in the past. Not sure if this will make our ADR list next trip.

Tuesday we went to Sea World. Happy day for DH! We saw all the shows and our kids went on the rides. The rain slowed things down a bit, but it was fine. I do enjoy it there, but prefer to stay at WDW.

Wed. we went to AK and had an enjoyable day. Hoop Dee Doo for dinner and loved it as much as past times! So much fun and we enjoyed the food.

Thurs. we started off at MK and then headed to Epcot for lunch at Le Chefs. My family enjoys this restaurant for its food, atmosphere and Remy! Had dinner at Tutto Italia and while it was good, not sure it will make the cut next trip.

Fri. we went to Typhoon Lagoon and had a blast! Spent most of the day there. I agree with others who say the wave pool is rough and saw many guests bleeding. I do suggest footwear as the walkways get so hot! We had dinner a Via Napoli and loved it! We decided we like this better than Tutto Italia.

Sat. we went to Epcot (my favorite park). We had lunch at Teppan Edo and even though we enjoyed it, this also might not make the cut next time.

Sun. was our last day. Always makes me sad no matter how long we stay. We had breakfast at Chef Mickey's and my youngest DS said "Its like a dream come true!" Glad he enjoyed it so much! Spent a little time at MK and then one last time at the pool.

Welcome home Teena! Missed you on the boards while you were away! So happy you had a great time! Love Mom and Daughter trips!!

KidMom2000 so sorry for your loss.

We are traveling with two other families, but they are on the dining plan and not CL, while we are CL with no dining. The other families are placing a GG order and getting beer.
Should I order some beer, or if we ask a CM would we be able to get a beer or two prior to 5pm?

You should have no trouble getting a beer earlier than 5 PM. Keep in mind that they are starting to really crack down on people not booking CL going into the lounge so your friends should not visit you on the fifth floor. Also, the beers in the lounge are glass bottles and they can't be taken to the pool. At least they were glass bottles last summer when we stayed CL. If your friends are getting beers for the pool (which is a really good idea since the prices at the pool are really high IMO), make sure they order the bottles/cans that are safe and allowed at pools. And if that's when you'll be using them, it might be a good idea to order some for yourself unless you want to poor the beer into your refillable mug and take that to the pool ... that would work.
