OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Maybe we'll do Jellyrolls the first night, after dinner at Flying Fish.

That's exactly what we are doing on our trip in September. We have planned to go after our Flying Fish dinner! We can enjoy the boardwalk for the night! So much fun. I can't wait for our trip - wish it was closer

I've been to both water parks, but hubby has only been to BB because both times we went, TL was refurbing. We originally thought we might skip the water parks in Oct. because of SAB, but then we thought maybe we'd try to get to Typhoon Lagoon. Then we heard that it is closing for refurb the day after we get there, so now the day we arrive, we're heading right to TL because with our luck, next time it will be closed too.

I am still trying to decide if I'm going to try one (or more) of those rides that I always avoid...RnR, TOT, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain...I probably won't decide that until we get there. Hubby always rides them, but I never have. He hasn't done EE yet though, so maybe we'll both do that as a "something new".

I am extremely :scared1: of heights but I seem to manage (even love) to ride most of the rides you mentioned. But I will warn that ToT was an awful, one time only experience for me!! We rode it right after rope drop one year and it was so bad we had to take the kids back to the resort because my youngest was very ill afterwards and to be honest, so was I!:rotfl: We ride all of the others with ease and RnR and EE have to be our top two. I say go for it!

We love spending a night at Jellyrolls. I'm not a big drinker either ( :lmao: ) but really love Jellyrolls. I love hearing all the different songs - new and old. I love it when they play the older songs that I haven't heard in years.

Anyone who hasn't been really should plan a couple of hours one night and go! I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. There is a JellyRolls thread on here somewhere that explains it all and also recommends some great songs to request.

We had a great time the last time we went. The big thing to remember is there is no food served there (only popcorn) so make sure you have dinner first!

And you can't beat the walk home to the BC after! No busses involved!

Thanks for the info on Jellyrolls!! DH and I are going to check it out for date night. Our kids are old enough now that they can stay in the room for a few hours by themselves and, like you said, it is a short walk back home to BC so if they need us we won't be far. Now off to check out the Jellyrolls thread!:goodvibes

Back to one of my favourite topics, evilly delicious sweet treats! Did you see the S'More's Cupcake from Boardwalk Bakery in Cinderumbrella's link? :faint:

Surprisingly, that one looked WAY better than it tasted...

Cripes! already up to page 16 without me. Had such fantastic weather here in the UK that we spent most of the weekend in the garden with our new "family swim centre" - well that's what it says on the side of the box of our 10 foot by 6 foot paddling pool :cool2:

Unfortunately things went downhill from there with my MIL 2B passing out in her kitchen on Monday which has resulted in an operation to replace her hip ball joint as she broke her femur right at the very top

We are only ten weeks and 1 day out from our wedding trip so its kinda hectic what with hubby to be being the only one and MIL 2B being 82. We are hoping that they will transfer her to the Community Hospital where she lives so that she can have plenty of visitors and take some of the pressure from us as we both work and its a 40 minute drive to hers.

I'm also hoping that she can stay in the Hospital for her rehab until we are safely back from out trip as we dont want to spend three weeks in Florida worrying about her.

I am SO sorry to hear that

*OK, question for you all*:

When I'm walking to HS from the BC, where is the cut-through at the BWI? I understand that I don't have to walk all the way around toward the Swan, but can cut through somewhere near the BWI and come out on the walking path to HS. Where do I make that turn?

When we do it, we cut through the Luna Pool area. Head towards BWI, and walk towards the gallery (to the right of the big porch when you are facing it), and walk down the hallway, past the fitness center & aracade and you will be in the pool area. Walk out the back and you will be on the path to DHS (turn left ;))

We'll be celebrating 8 years...and I'm the best thing that ever happened to my husband. :rotfl:

Aren't we all?? :rolleyes::rotfl:

Quick question about my upcoming ever -lengthening trip  I recently added a day on the front end of my trip at the Dolphin ( I know but it was free with points)

I am tranfering the next morning for our 7 night stay at BC:cool1:. I know I could walk there but do not want to haul our stuff over there in the hot humid summer heat.
I heard somewhere that sometimes the S/D will do a luggage transfer to a WDW resort but I don't really want to do it that way.

Has anyone ever taken a taxi the short distance between the Dolphin and the BC? How much is it? Is this a ridiculous question? :confused3

Dee - if you going to be around pre-teen/teen girls make sure you practice the mandatory eye rolling. Just watch a teen girl when her mother is trying to tell her something and you'll get the full effect!

I have one I could video tape if needed. :rolleyes1

Unfortunately, the eye rolling is not restricted to the female gender. I am all too familiar with this habit!

In the other thread I posted how my DBF and I were going though some financial problems and there was a chance we'd have to move from NJ/PA to CO... This wouldn't effect our trip (save for airfair... this trip is a 30th birthday gift from my parents who have passed away :littleangel::littleangel: and DBF doesn't want to sacrifice this unless it's life or death ) but would have been hard on both of us.

I'm VERY happy to update that a place he has been doing some consulting at is about 85-90% there of offering him a full time job :cheer2::dance3::banana:.

We still may do the move to CO one day, but it's one we can now plan for rather than do out of necessity.

I know it has nothing to do with BC/YC but I needed to share because DBF is a good old fashioned guy (very hard to find these days) and I wanted to share our good news!

Back to normal thread stalking now till my trip is a wee bit closer and I start to stress out that we made the right decisions :rolleyes1

Thanks for sharing your news with us. Sending positive thoughts.

Hmmmm... I'm not sure if this is better (or even allowed) but how about taking the boat? If there is not too much luggage, and it is not a terribly crowded time of day, I don't think there would be any objections.

Would you be able to go to BC first and check the majority of your luggage with Bell Services for the night and then just have an overnight bag for SD?

Thanks! I used your instructions and looked it up on a Bing map and I think I know what to do. Are you going to walk to HS on 6/8? I would love to take the boat (to save my feet), but I don't think they'll be running early enough for us to get there at 7:15 that morning. Better off just walking, huh?

Surprisingly, that one looked WAY better than it tasted...

Oh no. :sad2: That's strike 2 for Boardwalk Bakery! First, a sub-par Oreo Bon Bon and now a S'mores. I'm going to have to focus my taste-testings on the offerings at the Marketplace, Starring Rolls and Main Street, methinks.

I'm currently in discussions with the hubs on upgrading our park tickets to APs. We're contemplating a second trip right after the New Year. Wish me luck, YC/BCers.

I'll see your teen eye rolling girl and raise you TWO teen eye rolling girls!

You can just imagine how stress free mornings are at my house. I thank God every day they wear uniforms because the amount of time they spend doing their hair and bickering is already more than I can handle. Add in picking out clothes and I would definitely be in the asylum by now!

Dee - Not to wish your trip away but I can't wait to read your trip report!

Yes, we will definitely walk that day. We will be in the lounge when it opens at 7am to grab a quick bite and out the door by 7:10 at the latest. Last year, we raced a boat and we got there about the same time, but we still made it to bag check first ;) (This was about 8am).

Hi All,
I just want to say I love this thread, I just want on here to explore different resorts and fell in love with this "chatty group" I am hoping my job gives me enough overtime or some pixie dust from the pin code fairy godmothers LOL !! :wizard: For me to be able to stay at this resort ! Your Thread has made me realize it is worth paying for deluxe resorts due to the location, as well as the BC and YC is the best deluxe resort. Stormalong bay looks amazing and I love the noodle story !!!! Well, I will let you all know if some overtime or Pixie Dust comes my way to be able to stay at this lovely resort ! :hourglass

So, is it really faster to cut through the BWI? We just took the footpath over the bridge near the S/D and kept on going... Is there a better way?

I looked on Google maps and it looks like the distance would be the same, but I figure I'm missing something important here!

I was lucky to get a 30% pin and have decided on yacht club over beach club due to the full size balcony. I hope I made the right choice! We are booked for garden view, what section or room should we request? I like high floors but hoping I do not get An obstructed view. Thanks all , love reading the posts. My four year old is going to love the pool.

I know, right!?!

You are sooooo lame!

Seriously?

You're not even tough!!!

:rolleyes1

Sorry for going off-topic, just practicing my teen-speak so I can communicate with my charges in 5 more days.

:banana::banana::banana:

Dee - And my 16 year-old's newest "you are so salty". What does this mean?

Again.....just let me know if my chaperoning services are needed!!

Not so much from the YC, but from the BC yes. I am walking for SWW simply because we need to be there so early and I am not sure if the boats will be running yet.

Request - "wedding gazebo" view - this will give you a nice garden view. Also, could request "upper floor" if this is important to you. 4th floor would be highest floor possible for garden view room.

Congrats on the pin code!

Gone for two days and this thread has moved along!!!!! :)

Dee, good luck next week with those boys and girls! I'm wondering how well they'll get up in the morning to get moving???? I've been lucky over the years that my oldest boys weren't sleepers (until they hit their 20's). Our youngest DS14 isn't too bad either. Are you bringing a pot or pan or two for alarm purposes? :) Either way I'm sure it will be trip of a lifetime! :thumbsup2

We leave in I think 11 days. I'm excited I think. Lots to do as usual and still not getting overly worked up about it. I'm not sure what my problem is. Is there a cover charge for Jellyrolls. It sounds as if a great place for the DH and myself to visit one evening. With all the talk about balconies etc. I'll be interested to see what we end up with. We've book BC CL standard view and put in no requests.

Happy a great Disney day Everyone!!!!

Not to wish the start of summer away but is it August yet?????

I need my vacation now!!!:hourglass

Just 4 months and 20 some-odd days until we're headed to the Yacht Club for our first ever stay at a Deluxe.

So tell me all you experts...what is the one thing that you think I should know about the Yacht Club, the YC/BC, the area around the place or staying Deluxe in general. Just throw out any little tidbit, piece of advice, hidden gem...anything.

Make time to enjoy the resort itself -- a lounge, the pool pool, dining (Yachtsmans or Beaches and Cream...) I figure that if we are paying deluxe prices we should really enjoy the resort itself.

Dee - if you going to be around pre-teen/teen girls make sure you practice the mandatory eye rolling. Just watch a teen girl when her mother is trying to tell her something and you'll get the full effect!

:rotfl: As the mother of a teenage girl I concur (unfortunately...) Whatever! :rolleyes1

Our entire trip is going to be about new things. Every ADR is at a new place that we've never dined before. That's one of the reasons we are so excited about this trip.

I'll have to add JellyRolls to the list. We have a dueling piano bar in Boston that I went to with some friends after work. It was a lot of fun. Hubby hasn't been though. We aren't really drinkers, but we like music so I'm sure we'll enjoy it.

Hello Fellow MA disser:)

There is a lot to do at the BC area. Walking around the resort in the evening is very romantic. My DH and I stayed there before kids and it was great. We enjoyed the Boardwalk at night. The walk to Epcot is also a nice perk of the resort. If you are lucky to have a room that faces Epcot you will be able see fireworks from your balcony. There are hidden hot tubs in SAB so make sure you find them :cloud9:.

Have a great trip!!
