OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

I was only able to get standard view. I did call and request full balcony and was told it had already been noted. I am going to continue to try to get garden view but can you tell me what standard was really like? I normally do not care about view but DH and I really like to sit on the balcony together when we are at Disney. I'll look at a parking lot if I have to but hope that there might be a little more in store

We had a standard view BC CL room last September. It was the room that is right outside the Stone Harbor Club Lounge (I can't remember the number!). It was a corner room with a Juliet balcony and we had views of the BCV and at night we could see Wishes from one window and the higher fireworks from Illuminations from the other. I thought we would miss having a full balcony, because we really enjoyed one on our first trip, but I was happy to be able to see Hallowishes and regular Wishes!

I booked standard view again this year, so we will see what we have this time!

View straight ahead from the Juliet Balcony (it looked suspiciously like the "Matthew McConaughey" view....but try as I did, I could not find him in there! :) )

FYI on BC CL GV - they all have full balconies - so I have been assured by IPO room assigner anyway....But there are only 5 GV rooms so that is sort of nuts.....But at any rate the price diff between standard and GV is so tiny - so if you ever have the option, book it over standard if possible - at least it alievates the balcony worry. i have stayed YC CL the last three summers and next week is my first BC CL check in....(gv so I will report back on the balcony...). I made NO REQUESTS....Usually I am all worked up for the gazebo view but this year the chips fall where they may. THE ONE YEAR I made no requests we got a bump to a 2 bedroom suite on CL...:goodvibes

All the room view pics from my TR were from our YC CL Standard View room - including the pictures of the Wishes Fireworks which were taken without any zoom on the camera. :)

I like that when you get your purchases sent back to the hotel, CL staff will put them in the room so you don't have to pick them up from the gift store.

Lovely view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that it will be nice to have purchases taken care of. We always pick them up and while it is better than lugging them around all day having them brought "home" is better :thumbsup2

For us it was also the small things. It was the CM who made sure DS and DD had chocolate milk whenever we needed it. Or the CM who packed up the kids favorite snacks for the plane ride after watching what they liked while we were there. Or the balloons sent to say goodbye to the kids from Mickey. It just made it even more magical from start to finish.

Oh, what a nice way to treat people!

Gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!

So the rooms are larger than a standard?

Thank you for the feedback!!

When I said extra space, I meant the extra space in the lounge. We used it like our living room and kitchen (with a staff, of course!!! :lmao:)

Good luck with your decision!

Thanks everyone for the feedback :thumbsup2

We still have time, but I really like the sound of the convenience that CL offers.

Fellow cupcake lovers, The Disney Food Blog has a cupcake crawl posted!!

http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2012/...sney-food-blog-2012-cupcake-crawl/#more-57297

Honestly, I don't know that I could do all 7 cupcakes without passing out from a sugar induced coma, but perhaps some of you with bigger traveling groups can tackle it!!

Oh my!! I see some new ones that I MUST try!! And some good reasons to go resort-hopping at some point....I love anything with lemon filling, so that one is definitely on my radar, as well as the Chocolate Peanut Butter! More reasons to get out and exercise, so I can indulge without guilt! The Disney walking program started tonight...DH is working til midnight, so DS4, DD8, and I went for a nice walk after dinner. Now if we can only keep it up! ;)

Hmmm, that's good to know. When I made my reservation by phone 6 months ago, I requested a full balcony and was intending on NOT doing online check-in. However, we won't arrive until around 7:00 pm-ish, and I started thinking that online check-in might actually be a good thing in my case before they give out all of the GV full balcony rooms for the day. If you do actually have an option re: balcony requests on the online check-in (even though I did mention that already on the phone), maybe I should do that after all. :confused3

We did online check-in for our recent stay at BLT for the same reason, and every request (we only had 2) was met. In fact, I've had better luck with online check-in than waiting most times.

Can anyone tell me if the BC room safes are big enough for 2 Ipads? Also, are they the set-your-combination type, or are they keyed? Thanks!

We fit 2 iPads in our safe at the BCV without any problem.

BTW- who is requesting the small balcony???
My thoughts exactly.:confused3

Thanks for the advice. I think I will go with this over MCO hyatt as there seems to be not much to do there except for the great access to planes. Do you prefer BC or YC? Funny thing is when the kids were little they were selling time share for $3k for a week there. This trip it is $500 + night just for a standard room. How often do they do discounts for this hotel? As I said we are frequent visitors to WL. I would stay there for the price but looking for new and exciting. If I have a standard room does the balcony make a difference. Is the view really that bad? I would stay at BLT again as we had a MK view once but I think that would be mean to DD (my disney nut). Looking forward to our trip in Aug WL and this trip in April on the Fantasy. I figure I have these two more vacations before they no longer want to go away with us.

Keep watching for discounts. If you book a room, hopefully you will be able to take advantage of future discounts. I'm not sure if you will have a bounceback in your room when you stay at the WL, or more importantly if your April date(s) will be included, but that is another possibility. Good luck!

I always book a Standard room, I don't mind a view overlooking the parking lot or rooftops of the resort. I do enjoy the balcony- I am an early riser, so it is nice to have someplace to go with my coffee and book in the morning.

Just doing a quick check in!!! Loving our vacation so far.

Thanks for checking in! Hope things are drying up for you and that you are having a great time!!!

Hello,

We just came back from our 2 weeks at BCV and it was great!!!

Glad to hear you had a great trip!!!

For us, the biggest perk of staying CL is in the intangibles. A few examples; getting our MNSSHP tickets changed to a different date when my mom got sick on our scheduled day, getting a pump so we could fill up a flat stroller tire, letting us borrow a small screwdriver to take the battery cover off of a stroller fan to change the batteries. The list goes on, but I don't want to ramble.

I look at CL as paying for convenience and an extra level of comfort! :cool1:

We didn't use the CL for much else, but I've heard that Dee likes to get them to sharpen pencils for her.

See above posts about the intangibles.

Just 4 months and 20 some-odd days until we're headed to the Yacht Club for our first ever stay at a Deluxe.

So tell me all you experts...what is the one thing that you think I should know about the Yacht Club, the YC/BC, the area around the place or staying Deluxe in general. Just throw out any little tidbit, piece of advice, hidden gem...anything.

My favorite deluxe tip (which I think someone mentioned here yesterday) is that turn down service isn't just for CL. You can call mousekeeping from your room and request it :cloud9: We request it for the duration and have had success with it 99% of the time (but don't leave a lot of stuff on the bed when you leave, as that may be an issue).

Thank you! Never would have thought of that.

I try to take everything off the bed when we leave any hotel room each day just so it's easier for them to make up the beds.

We do too. But the 2 times I can recall not getting turndown was when something was on the bed. 1) at CR when the white chocolate monorail was delivered by private dining and placed on the bed 2) during a CL stay when our delivered park purchases had been placed on the bed before turndown had arrived.

White Chocolate Monorail!?! Do you have a photo of this?
