We have some old park hopper tickets - some still have days on them and other do not. Is there a way to determine which ones have days on them - besides trying to use them at the gate?

Any guest relations window can tell you but there is nowhere outside "The World" to do so.

We just returned and had the same thing- 5 old park hoppers. Only the ticket windows at the parks can check for you, not the hotels. Also, we had the tickets before AK was opened so we had to go to the ticket window there and was issued another ticket free of charge-ours wouldn't work at the AK gate.

According to allearsnet.com:

"The only way that you can find out what is left on old tickets is in person at WDW. Any resort front desk, Guest Services, or Guest Relations window can scan them and tell you what remians unused on them. The Disney Stores cannot tell you nor can you find out over the telephone."

I phoned Disney and they confirmed what minniestheone said. I apologize for giving incorrect information - usually allearsnet.com is pretty darned reliable.

The resorts can check them - both the front desk and Guest Services. Apparantly you encountered a CM who didn't know how, want to, or have the time.

If your old tickets did not carry the magnetic strip on the back (begun in 1996) then you did indeed have to exchange the ticket for another one to go into AK. If the old ticket had the magnetic strip, then they would work just fine in the turnstiles as is.

Boy, if I understand what you said, then the old hopper passes bought before Animal Kingdom opened can be used for entry into Animal Kingdom?

Man, that is just great! I remember when buying them they warned us when AK opened (which it was soon going to) it could not be used there. I thought that was odd.

I was there on Monday, March 18, and went to Guest Services at All-Star Movies, and the CM was able to tell me how many days were left on each one.

Can the Disney Welcome Center off I-75 in Ocala FL check the old tickets that have the magnetic strip for the number of park and plus days remaining?

The way I was told...

A few years ago, to simplify the system by reducing the number of different kinds of passes on file, a policy change was made so hopper passes of any vintage have been allowed as admission to all theme parks.

This is subject to further change in the future.

A demagnetized or non-mag-stripe pass should be exchanged at no cost for a new pass with the same remaining days and plusses.
